Edit: I went ahead and started manually updating hotkeys according to the google doc. I finished all Protoss and Global keys with no problem. I then went through zerg and had to make a couple decisions there. Queen's transfuse conflicted with burrow, so I took a guess and switched transfuse to 2. Swarm Host doesn't take on the general burrow/unburrow keys, I guess because the burrowed state would be its default state, so they need to be set manually on that unit. Terran: Raven seeker missile on 3 conflicted with Patrol, probably a typo that meant to be 2. The general command Halt conflicts with Neosteel Frame on Engineering Bay on X. I wasn't sure what would make sense here, so I just tossed it on Q for now.

Edit: Ah, the original post was updated with a download for 2.0 while I was working on updating manually. My notes above are probably irrelevant already, haha. Edit2: The Hotkeys screen will sometimes show old abilities that were taken out during the beta long ago and not show current abilities that were added later in the beta. I thought maybe it would depend on whether or not you are in the campaign, but that is not the case. What is going on? I can't figure out the behavior here, so I can test if fixing the Chameleon 2.0 hotkeys for campaign is going to cause conflicts with multiplayer.

Reason: 6 is rather far and uncomfortable to press. 2) Use same modifiers as in The Core Reason: they are better in The Core There are more things that I had set differently, but they are mostly personal preference.

This is a change in 2.0 that stood out to me the most. I've used 3 as one of my main convenient hotkeys for any game for years now (mmo or rts) and have been wondering if patrol is really used that much. Maybe I don't use it as often as I should. I figured I'd leave it at default for now until I play multiplayer a bit. Jak must have made the change due to some data and experience from this project so far. Maybe it ties into ergonomics that I'm not seeing yet. 2) Use same modifiers as in The Core Reason: they are better in The Core What are you referring to here?

1) The reason why we now have 3 as an ability and not a CG is because we now need 11 ability keys instead of 9 (thanks to larva...) We could make tab an ability and have one less free cam if you're interested. 2) We can't use the same modifiers as TheCore. The only way to use these modifiers is to have the thumb on the modifiers, which is the one thing that we can't do with Chameleon. Or.... wait... You wanna get really crazy? We could do it. But, we'd have to switch sides. The left side would have to be CGs and the right side would have to be Abilities. Actually, that would be a good move because then if they add more abilities we can easily expand out to the right side whereas the left side ends right there. That would be like... Chameleon 3.0

2) Well, I use alternate modifiers with much success, setting groups with ctrl (new CG at start of the game) or shift+ctrl when I need to clear an existing CG. Using pinkie for ctrl and both pinkie and ring finger for ctrl+shift. (12 QW AS ZX CV and said tab for viper) as unit abilities. (34 ERT DFG B ) as CG. Thumb on alt when setting cameras.

This is 2.0. We are still considering making some changes but Chameleon 2.0 is HotS ready right now ![]()

edit: Will have to say this much, it was extremely easy to pick up compared to Dark Grid for some reason. Another thing. Supply depots raise with W, lower with S. It is the opposite case with Seige Tanks. Perhaps it might be better to have W for setting up, and S for mobilizing. Same logic could apply for burrow but I haven't touched Z yet.

Messed with my brain a little, the basic construction should be used more often, why not have it right under your primary finger? Is your hand facing "\" direction? That's the only way I can think when your point finger is naturally going from homerow to "V" key.

For me, basic construction is V and advanced construction is C...what am I missing here? and as for W and S, I feel ok with how things are right now: S is the key that is easier to get to, so it's assigned to the function that's more commonly used (lower depot) or you need to be able to access quickly (siege).
