I just found this thread! This is the sort of thing I have been looking for. Pretty much all guides say work on your macro, hit the injects, do not get supply capped, but how do you know when you are doing it good enough to start work on other parts of your game? The benchmark thing is really really good!! I'll tell how it goes, it would be nice to get out of silver league.

As a zerg working on these benchmarks, I keep running into terrans on the ladder that tell me that this 1/1 with speed roach push is an all-in... Would you guys characterize it as such? I am able to transition and populate my third quite quickly and hitting the benchmarks gives me a nice cushion. I definitely push hard at 11min if I scout a meching (heavy hellion and 1-2 banshee) terran and delay populating my third at that point.

At higher levels, it's pretty all-in, yes. You're on 2 bases for a very long time against a 2 base T/P, and so if your opponent is macroing well, you really need to do a lot of damage to even out. At lower levels however, you can get away with it by simply macroing better than them, which you almost certainly will with these benchmarks. In ZvZ, it's less all-in because of the nature of the matchup.

lol thanks everyone who gave me shit for having 49 scvs rather than 50. Turns out I was building a depot on 9 instead of 10 because I had literally forgotten. Messing up the whole build.

Just got cannon rushed lol. Totally my fault, I had all the time in the world to react, I had just forgotten how exactly to react to a cannon rush and my marine died to a cannon a second before he wouldve killed the probe. Lol oh well.

My question is, can I send out the SCV at 11 to scout without hurting my macro timings? Just to scout for cheese and such

I just went from silver to gold as Zerg thanks to this guide and I am very happy about that (soon to be Plat I hope)!

After hitting the benchmarks in the first episode regularly I started with the build in the second. Those benchmarks are much harder especially on ladder. ;-) I have managed to hit all but one during about 20 games (around 5 against the AI). The one I haven't managed to hit is the 60 drones @ 8:00 benchmark. Now I am wondering if I am doing the build wrong, the other possibility is that I am just bad (which is perfectly possible). ;-) Since I have extracted the build from the videos where filter
don't hit that benchmark either I feel I need a better source. Does someone have a replay or something when doing the silver level Zerg build and hitting that benchmark?

I love the guide I just want to say again

I switched race to Terran at the end of the last season placed into bronze and am now upto gold

the only trouble I have really is TvZ I just ruined by lings and banelings no matter how much i try to split or micro against the lings I just feel like there is nothing I can do

I'm a platinum zerg and currently working on hitting the zerg episode 3 benchmarks reliably. My game is improving already, even in areas you don't even directly touch in that video, like doing stuff quicker in general, scrolling less and using location hotkeys more.

So I wanted to say: great job, Filter, this was really needed. It's exactly as you said in the Terran series. I've heard a thousand times that macro is important and that I need to hit injects and make a lot of drones and so on, but what was missing is something that shows how to make it happen on a practical level.

I'll report back when I've finished the zerg tutorial. My goal is to get to diamond (wouldn't mind masters though ^^), and I think I will. Thanks a bunch!

A suggestion: You have a link to your Youtube in the OP, but you might want to update it so that people clearly see there is a zerg series as well. I watched three of the terran episodes before I found out by accident.

You are terran with floating buildings that can switch addons. Use this build to mix in your own stuff, like tanks or helions. Filter even has videos with variations. One variation includes helions.

When you know these builds you can easily steal similar builds from replays too, like from IEM. MVP has a similar fast expand but with earlier medivacs and push vs Protoss for instance. Builds like that are so easy to copy when you already know Filter's builds.

Beta, no. When it goes live I will do though. I don't really see the point in looking at the HoTS beta that in depth just yet, things are still changing rapidly.

As far as streaming goes, I'm pretty inconsistent with it right now but I will start to pick it up soon. I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD on it's own isn't that big of a deal, but when you're 28 it starts to put some pieces of the puzzle together as far as inconsistency and all that. Hopefully some treatment will help me be more consistent with how I play.

Take it easy dude and be gentle with yourself as you adjust to whatever treatment you choose. It's a big transition and you should prioritize yourself before anything else... I'm glad to hear it and I wish you the best!

Have you tried putting marines on another hotkey as well as your main army? Then when banelings come you micro them back. If there is too many banelings you pick up with medivacs if your opponent does not have air.

So what's a good counter to this PvT? Assuming similar skill levels and constant production I feel toss has difficulty fighting these 10 minute pushes simply because we can't early harass because we'll just get owned by range and number. I'm asking because as p I've used similar strategy, and noticed many many many terrans are using your "just macro and push at 10" strategy... Multiple times I've talked to t post game and they say they're using what they learned from you. Anyways as toss I feel I just have an extremely difficult time fending off so many marines and medivacs. If I try rushing colossi. I can't have many units and colossi will die quick. If I make too many units I won't be able to compete in macro... While I can win sometimes, its only because my opponent really took your videos to heart and made marines with no upgrades, but sucked at macro..

However against players who macro nearly perfectly I have a hell of a time against it often losing... On top of the fact that I don't want to do any sort of cheesy all ins which are probably the best solutions.

The counter to this build is Nexus. We can not punish you until 10 min either. P have chronoboost. Look at how Parting plays!
