When I run the "Unit Preloader" map (i.e., whenever I start up SC2): is it okay to minimize SC2 while Unit Preloader is running? Or does minimizing SC2 negate the pre-loading benefit?

Q: I am looking for pro ZvP reps from after the SH-nerf where toss goes gateway-expand into 6+ gate pressure and the zerg holds. But I can't find any. Can anyone help? A VOD would be nice too, but a replay would be preferable.

So I got really into SC2 around last summer but life got in the way and had to stop for a while, now I'm back and have switched from terran to zerg but Im just getting my ass kicked. I'm also pretty new to the SC2 community and theres so much information I'm lost 6_9

Hey guys, with WCS releasing replays, we have a lot of tools to improve in our hands. What do you think would be the best way to improve a match-up using those? Are there any ressources about how to learn effictively from pro replays?

Quick PvP question: when to scout for proxies? Untill now, I've always scouted after gateway, however, it has been brought up to my attention that this is rather useless.

where did u get that? scouting after 13 is absolutely fine. almost every pro will at LEAST scout for inbase proxies after gateway unless ur herO or something.

This was my mistake, it's something you should definitely do, I'll retract my earlier statement

Is drone scouting worth it as zerg in any matchup?

Is there a good way to learn to keep an eye on the minimap? My overlord placement is good I think but I never see drops coming anyway.

As a lowly metal league player, I've found that overlord redundancy helps increase the odds that I spot a drop coming and spot it early enough to do anything about it.

By redundancy I mean not just having an overlord just outside the edge of your base where a drop will come in, but, for example, an overlord just outside of the enemy base that might spot the dropships on the way out, and one or two along the edges of the map where they are likely to fly when the player is trying to be sneaky. If your creep spread is good you have less need to place overlords around the middle of the map.

I figure if I just have the scouting overlords near my base then even if I spot it I will probably not respond quickly enough with my metal league reactions to defend properly.

So if there are at least two or 3 points where it will pass through the vision of your overlord or creep tumor, it increases the odds greatly that you will see it and see it in time to react.

I'm not particularly great as a player but by trying to be redundant with overlords as I have more of them, I've found that I identify and intercept a decent percentage of drops, and often can at least have ground army in my main in time to defend etc.

Obviously any player roaming the map with a few vikings can seriously put a cramp in this, but many players do not do this.

Often I will notice a little blip of red pass near one of my overlords out on the map and I can glimpse that there are one or two dropships there and get a sense of the direction they are moving. Then my brain is alerted to the fact there are dropships on the move and then I am highly likely to notice them passing near a second overlord or creep tumor and get a fix on their direction and be in position to intercept or defend.

I went from never intercepting drops to doing it a decent amount of the time now because of this. There's little better feeling in the game than intercepting a 4 medivac doom drop and killing it with almost no losses, that's serious damage that in most instances should pretty much win you the game.

I know that we like to say to "macro out of BSG", and I think I've almost done it! I'm tenth in gold, and feeling good. My question is, what happens next? I have good fundamentals, but I'm not sure what to work on next. Is there a standard "next step" to the game, or is there no particular route to go down, and I just work on specific things that bother me (mech play)?

There no true answer to this question, but I can promise you your fundamentals aren't as good as you think they are. You can get to master with a good buildorder and good execution. Yet macro alone isn't all that's required to get good at this game, so obviously you should look at other aspects as well.

Hello, I just wanted to know if anyone knows if it is possible to visually display detection range of a building, like a turret? A bit like range of siege tanks are displayed, so I could know if key buildings of my infrastructure are covered or not by the detection range of a turret. TY.

A: i guess the best way is to extract the script of x player then copy it on sc2scrapbook. You can also take all the repalys in sc2gears in order to see what BO proplayer choose according to what they scout(BO).

A: if u have supply next to ramp, ez, just close^^ if not bunker behind mineral line. Good way to defend is, asa you have unit pull scv(good tanks), micro, you'll have more harvester. A: dont forget with scout after gate to check for inbase, natural and obvious(b3) proxy spots. Sooner it costs a lot of mineral, later stalker will be out. You just want to scout gas and probe/gas and to check late proxy spots then to hide in a corner. After that, stalker can scout too but be careful, u may need it to defend^^

A: I like you^^ If you think that you have good fundamentals for your level, you should try tournaments or ums(Use Map Settings ) to understand how to play Bo3/5/7/etc. There is basicly two choices: grid 1 BO per race until you reach master (effective but boring), BO wheel = first you need to gather all the BO you can, and at each game, run a random function, apply the BO, try to win (funny, exhausting, slow progress). There is a third when you play ladder games with no real strategy, scouting and trying to react to your opponent (no progression, frustrating)
edit: ums = Use Map Settings / a tournament takes 2 hours to 6 hours so a good evening you can strat with one with a leaguecap

A: I dont think so but i dont understand very well the question. Turret sight is display because it's usefull, production building sight are not usefull. You could select a turret in you building menu, place it on the one you have already build to recheck range. However i think most people will tell you to train your eyes. In tvt, you cant click on your tanks every time to see if they are in range and it's good practice for banshee micro.
edit: seems there is no way ig but u can see a good example with an editor map, just build one tower to see how much detection range it got.
