Who said the quote "you play Terran if your micro orientated you play Protoss of something something, and you play Zerg if you have self respect" I'm trying to find the whole quote, I forgot the Protoss part.

I have a question:
How come some Pro Players won't even spend 100 minerals at the beginning of the game for a simple Spine Crawler (for zerg)....Like "just in case". I've seen so many times where a single spine would fend off hellions/reapers etc..

I mean isn't it a good idea to have at least one in ur main/expansion "just in case" or is it a giant waste?

It tends to be for a combination of 2 reasons. The main reason is that they tend to be working to specific builds and timings were losing a Drone, it's mining and 100 minerals sat at home doing nothing "just in case" might actually make a difference. The second reason is that the scouting at the top levels of play can be sufficient that they can recognise their opponents builds more or less, and know the approximate timings and so produce defense later, where even then units are often prefered as you can defend or attack with them. When it looks like they lose early because they were just unprepared it'll often be if you really look at their play that they either missed something with scouting or were close to holding it and didn't because they were trying to squeeze everything out of their build possible.

It's true though that there are occasions where one Spine would make the difference which is generally why it's not something you really need to copy until you're at that point where 100 minerals and a Drone are the biggest issue though, but at the pro level it can matter.

PvT:

I usually go 16 nexus or a similar 1gate FE build vs terran on 4 player maps. Usually they cant stop me if they hit me too early. However, vs a ~15 marine, 3 tank, SCV all in I cant fend it off for the life of me. I dont exactly know what the numbers are specifically, but early'ish game I will get hit with that all in and I cant defend it. Tips? And how do I know its coming exactly? I dont know terran builds at all..

Aa far as I am aware they do it because than roaches (16 dmg +2 per upgrade ) can 2 shot banelings(35 hp) and that makes their sniping much more easier. Attack also stacks better with higher numbers of units(all attacking(hopefully) not all getting damaged) and is a bit cheaper.

banes have 30hp, lings have 35. Roaches with +1 eat through 0carapace lings like nothing.

Hi! It's been months since I've played SC2 and I was hoping to get back into it. The thing is, since then I've had to reformat my laptop and lost all my links. I had a link to a thread where someone created a web site to help you with your builds. It was really easy, you could just click units you wanted to build, and you would always know how many minerals/gas you had at x minutes. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I tried doing a search but it wasn't fruitful.

I'm an idiot. I just remembered I had posted in the thread, so I found it by looking at my post history. It can be found here:

Don't know is this exactly strategy but I wouldn't like to start new topic on this subject. Also tried to search posts and topics with words "calm" and "excitement". No real hits.

It's about being calm. No I'm not raging when I ladder, I can take defeat and I know there is someone better than I am. This is about staying calm, avoiding the "excitement" and "panic".

I know it's natural for human to get excited if something goes really well and if something goes horrible wrong... or being exact , it's before those moments. Your hearthrate goes up, you start to sweat, adrenaline goes thru your body... those are ok. Tells you're doing something you have passionate for. But for some people it brings mistakes, wrong estimates also... you fall down to the level you have trained for hours and hours to do in that situation.

Giving you example, I'm crushing my enemy with 200/200 army in big fashion, but still I get way too excited about the victory or something that releates to that and I forget my basics; macro, creep, upgrading, expanding, producing -> not good.
Even the worse, if I see beforehand that big attack is coming and I need to prepare. I do basic mistakes... I get supplycapped at critical moment, I missclick, don't inject and etc. I just think "omg, I'm so close of losing now. Panic, panic!".

I know I'm a little bit of that kind of person in real life too, I lose my focus if something "out of the ordinary" happens, and I get my gameplay back up after sometime, normally "too late" for my liking. I want it back right at the instant.

I know training, preparing is the 90% of this process, but there is the 10%. I would like to have tips? Is there somehow I could train mainly focusing on this aspect outside of just when it happens in gamesituation? As this ain't only about the game I have love and passion for, I can take tips in real life too. Situation, things I could do to train myself?

And "breathe calmly" is a good tip, but I'm a familar with that one. What you fellow gamers to do keep yourself as cool as Nestea, after he just rolls over everyone?

I want to succeed and improve in every aspect of my life and that's why I'm asking.

Best regards,
Siune

P.s. Pardon my weak(ish) english, not my native language.

Not exactly simple, I think you can make a thread for this

One thing you can do even in real life, as you would in a starcraft game, try to do your daily things PERFECTLY. Anticipate possible ways of messing something up, even in ways that don't really matter. For example, when you run around a corner, anticipate the possibility of someone walking around that corner as well (and he/she would be walking the right direction, since you should stay on your right side).

I think it just helps you concentrate on things and keep your brain active: What is there that I can do to do better right now?

If you practice and keep this kind of thinking in real life, you should be able to do it well in starcraft, which will help you be ready and stay calm for the 10% of the game where your preparation has not prepared you for.

Thanks for the advice. You don't know actually how meaningful that sentence "Try to do your daily things perfectly" was. Couple of great persons have give me hints about the same thing, but now I see what they exactly meant. As they said; "If you can't clean your house right, or do the dishes right... how are you expected to run a multi-million company right?". Now I got the idea. And I will work on it harder than ever.

-Sincerely,
Siune
Until the very top it's about how much work you put into it.

As a biomech TvT player, should I just transition to marauder–tanks against a meching player? Or at least get lots of marauders and just a few marines (maybe for drops). With vikings for air superiority.

(I don’t want to go mech myself.)

Thanks

Also, in a Roach on Roach battle, +1 attack adds 2 damage per shot, and +1 armor only reduces damage by 1.

I'm guessing you're referring to marine tank pushes that hit around 7:00-7:30. You will not be able to scout this early enough with an obs, in fact it's really hard to scout until he actually shows his hand. You should have map control until he pushes out, make sure you have every tower to see this push as early as possible. Your best option is to chrono an immortal (if you have a robotics), burn spare chronos on warpgates and warp in exclusively zealots. Hopefully you already have early sentries with guardian shield, if not don't bother warping in fresh sentries they won't be doing you too many favours.

You have to micro really well here. He has only one place to attack you, and that's your natural. Send parts of your army elsewhere to flank later, spread well, engage mid-map with stalkers, etc. Even if you do all of this perfectly it can be very very hard to hold.

I just got back to the ladder and I don't know which maps has which spawn point restriction.

Can someone point me out the speciality of the current 1v1 map pool?

Can you spawn close position on Metalapolis/Shattered temple ? What about Tal'Darim?

Anybody know if the Green Tea AI cheats? I heard it does not cheat, but it attacked me with LOTS of units with only 2 bases? I checked the replay but it did not cheat but something feels fishy..
Regarding the imbalance, hilarious to see Zergs defending themselves....

The maps that you can't spawn close positions on are Metal, Shattered and Shakuras.

Hey guys, I play Terran and have been moving up in my leauge lately (just started playing about a week ago) and I've been getting a lot of matches against Protoss. Almost every match I've played against a Toss opponent they try to sneak a proxy pylon into a corner of my base and try to build tons of photon cannons or a gateway in the corner of my main, but every time I counter effectively and it's never worked. Is this a standard Protoss tactic, or just these kids messing around in the lower leauges?

Sorry it's not very short, but I think it's relatively simple...

It's generally done in lower leagues. Just make sure you scout the dark areas of your base, especially if you see a probe come into your base and go into the dark area and not come out. As soon as you scout a proxy gateway or cannons, build a bunker out of range of the cannons but defending your scvs and buildings. Put your first marines directly into that bunker. (wait a second, I just reread your question; are you saying that you can't counter effectively or you always counter effectively?)
