You should be able to kill the first 6 zerglings with just your probes. when you say wall off, do you mean a full wall-in, or a partial wall off with a space for a zealot? I used to do a full wall, but then i couldn't stop the zerglings from jsut chewing at my wall T_T. if I do a partial wall, before the zealot comes out, do I want to plug the hole with probes on hold position, or do i want to try to get the surround with mineral walk and attack? Full wall against 6pool and kill your own wall (preferably the pylon) once you have enough to chase away the lings and before he breaks down your wall. I made a longer post about this on page 545.

Aa far as I am aware they do it because than roaches (16 dmg +2 per upgrade ) can 2 shot banelings(35 hp) and that makes their sniping much more easier. Attack also stacks better with higher numbers of units(all attacking(hopefully) not all getting damaged) and is a bit cheaper. banes have 30hp, lings have 35. Roaches with +1 eat through 0carapace lings like nothing.

I know it's natural for human to get excited if something goes really well and if something goes horrible wrong... or being exact , it's before those moments. Your hearthrate goes up, you start to sweat, adrenaline goes thru your body... those are ok. Tells you're doing something you have passionate for. But for some people it brings mistakes, wrong estimates also... you fall down to the level you have trained for hours and hours to do in that situation. Giving you example, I'm crushing my enemy with 200/200 army in big fashion, but still I get way too excited about the victory or something that releates to that and I forget my basics; macro, creep, upgrading, expanding, producing -> not good. Even the worse, if I see beforehand that big attack is coming and I need to prepare. I do basic mistakes... I get supplycapped at critical moment, I missclick, don't inject and etc. I just think "omg, I'm so close of losing now. Panic, panic!". I know I'm a little bit of that kind of person in real life too, I lose my focus if something "out of the ordinary" happens, and I get my gameplay back up after sometime, normally "too late" for my liking. I want it back right at the instant. I know training, preparing is the 90% of this process, but there is the 10%. I would like to have tips? Is there somehow I could train mainly focusing on this aspect outside of just when it happens in gamesituation? As this ain't only about the game I have love and passion for, I can take tips in real life too. Situation, things I could do to train myself? And "breathe calmly" is a good tip, but I'm a familar with that one. What you fellow gamers to do keep yourself as cool as Nestea, after he just rolls over everyone? I want to succeed and improve in every aspect of my life and that's why I'm asking. Best regards, Siune P.s. Pardon my weak(ish) english, not my native language.
Not exactly simple, I think you can make a thread for this
One thing you can do even in real life, as you would in a starcraft game, try to do your daily things PERFECTLY. Anticipate possible ways of messing something up, even in ways that don't really matter. For example, when you run around a corner, anticipate the possibility of someone walking around that corner as well (and he/she would be walking the right direction, since you should stay on your right side).
I think it just helps you concentrate on things and keep your brain active: What is there that I can do to do better right now?
If you practice and keep this kind of thinking in real life, you should be able to do it well in starcraft, which will help you be ready and stay calm for the 10% of the game where your preparation has not prepared you for.

Something's been bugging me for a while. I'm at the blizzard ui atm, and it says there's 9780 sc2 games worldwide? Is this true?? O_O seems like a really small number to me

Go to multiplayer > create custom game > search for GTAI or the map name that you want to play and click the one with the GTAI tag on it that has the most up to date GTAI version in the description > add an ai in the 2nd player slot and start the game as you normally would.
You wil know it's the correct map because it will prompt you to choose a commander (ie a strategy that the bot will use)
Once you've selected the map and it's downloaded once it should then show up in your single player vs ai list as well if you want to practice offline.
Good luck! Hope this helps.

Is there a good way to check if an overlord (or any unit) is building other than clicking each egg individually or just knowing you are down a hundred minerals?
|
Will try that, thanks.
As a mech player, how do I deal with drops? NOT drop harass in my base etc , but when its a head on battle, my tanks are sieged, and the zerg just charges at me using Overlord drops. Am I suppsoed to make vikings? But then its unfair since I will lose my ground strength a lot, whereas the zerg loses nothing, since OL costs no supply.
Any advice?

Unfortunately, clicking on each egg individually is the only way (that I know of) to see what it is building. In the early game this isn't much of a problem because you will only have about a maximum of 6 eggs morphing at a time. Later game, it becomes very difficult to find a specific egg making a unit, so I go by the idea of "when in doubt, build another one"

Any advice? Getting Thors is really helpful in this situation to shoot down OLs with units in them. If you see more than 10 or so OLs coming and you know that you won't be able to kill a majority of them, then simply unsiege your tanks and let them deal with the roaches as they drop because your dps will be MUCH higher than his while his units are being dropped.

I started playing some team games lately because I've found its an incredibly good way to relax when I'm too tense for my usual 1v1 laddering. However I thought I might use it to toy around with my off-races as well. I've basically played Protoss since I bought SC2. So I can generally judge how much production I'm going to need there. However I have no idea how it translates to Terran or Zerg.
So my question is basically how much can you support per base with Terran and Zerg? Particularly Zerg, whenever I've tried vs AI as zerg I tend to find I end up floating absolutely tons of minerals and gas surprisingly quickly. And I'm pretty sure its way more than can just be explained away by missing a few injects.

1 basing Zergs going ling heavy require a macro hatch + 2 queens to spend all their minerals. 1 base pure roach can use at leat 90% of your money without. You take gas earlier and stay on it, so your mineral intake is slightly lower. 1 gas is usually enough + mineral saturation. You can't really support lair tech (mutas, infestors) on one base, you need that 400 gas income, else..that's 2 mutalisks (228 gas) per minute. Ugh. By the time your spire is ready on 2 base, you have 800-1200 gas in comparison, and usually you need to start floating money as well. Not all 2v2 maps have good expansions for Zerg. If you can't win outright with banelings/speedlings/roaches you need to secure than expo asap.
As for Terran....3 rax constant production or 4 rax (with 4 rax, you stop producing to get the 4th rax up, so you have less units early on, which is bad because in 2v2 rushes are common) - also it seriously delays your factory/starport. I can almost always squeeze in an in-base orbital on 3 rax. 1-1-1 (tank+banshee+reactor marines) can keep your money down, 2 factories per base is ok for mech. 3 when you start floating minerals for reactored hellions burn through the rest, you'd be gas limited with 2 tech lab facts or starports on any 1 base.

What is the general timing for a 7gate +2 blink stalker build after a FFE? When to build the first 3 additional gates, when the council and when the last gates? How many probes should I get? Against what builds can I use it?

Spread out your tanks and use a higher Thor count.
Also if a majority of their army is loaded up into overlords, then there's very little stopping your hellions from making an easy run by and annihilating their drone line.
At that point even if you lose your army you've dealt a serious blow to their economy. As always when playing TvZ you always want to leave some defense back at home to repel counter attacks and ling runbys.

I have been using a phenix build lately and it has been working really well against toss and zerg (also have a few void against zerg) but after i push them back into their base with the phenix harass i do not know when to expand correctly. my build order is 13 gate, 14 gas, 16 pylon, cyber when gate is done, gas asap, zelot then stargate. i end up with 3 wg and a sg. The real problem is is that they usually all in after i do a lot of dmg to their mineral line...should i even expo at all? If so how do i protect it efficiently?

I played this game on shakuras it was a PvZ. My opponent opened 3 hat, mass spines, double spire into mass mutas. It seems almost impossible to defend 3 bases on shakuras, so how should I go about doing it? I had lots of upgraded blink stalkers, lots of cannons and HT with storm at each base but still could not defend all three bases at once. I scouted the spires as he started morphing them and I felt like I was prepared, but no luck....
Basically he built like 20 lings total, 30 spines and nothing but mutas with double upgrades while getting a fourth base. I tried to put pressure on his expansions using warpprism but too many spines and I couldn't really attack up the ramp without losing my entire army. Trying to harrass his fourth was pretty difficult seeing as he had 35+ mutas with 2/2 upgrades at that point.
There has to be something I'm missing because when I watch high level pro streams, zergs never just goes mutalols but always roach/hydra/infestor on that map.I've watched alot of players for example WhiteRa play on Shakuras, but he never seems to be facing mutas I have no idea how he would fend it off.
Anyways, I just feel lost right now, I can deal with mutas fine on other maps but on shakuras it dosen't make any sense to me. Any protosses that could shed some light on PvZ on shakuras for me would be amazing!
Right now I've boiled my choices down to:
1) The cowards way out, veto it... 2) Double stargate every game. 3) Some sort of gateway timing all in. 4) One base all in. 5) Play normal and just pray he doesn't go mutas.
Any help is appreciated!

use a few high templar in your army to storm his mutas. it will tear them apart and make it very easy to clean up....you just have to make sure you dont get your templar sniped before they get their storms off. also i would expand at least to three if he is getting four. just sit back and defend your base with a HT at each base to storm them if they come to harrass, photon cannons/blink stalkers would also be nice. iv seen whiteRah do this and it worked pretty well for him. also if it comes down to it and you have the mutas flying over you, it is better to storm them while they are on you then not storming them at all. it will do more dmg to them then it will to you...relative to unit health

1. I seem to get mutas 2-5 minutes too late, sometimes too late for harassment to be successful, when do you time your lair, and how do you get mutas out faster? 2. I'm at this stage where I'm constantly afraid of some kind of attack, all-in, or air/stealth, so I end up underdroning and losing sometimes because of it, how do you guys feel comfortable in these situations? 3. How do you improve your ability to use multiple hotkeys (and how do you control) with compositions like Ling bling muta, and infestors. 4. What's better, queens on 4,5,6 or backspace, I currently use backspace but I'm not sure which one is better. 5. What builds and transition comps do you find to be most safe in the three matchups currently (especially ZvZ which I feel very rock paper scissory in right now).
