Question: Do we still hate on banelings? If so, may I ask why?

You burrow a Banling into the ground, it becomes a mine,
You put a Baneling into an overlord, it becomes a bomb,
now Banelings can scare and scatter bio balls,
or elevate BW ZvZ.

So I assume mass banelings has proven to be a problem at the higher levels of play. Just in the unlikely case it is not based on a balance problem but some players opinion, I wanted to let you know that in my opinion the baneling is awesome. Thanks for the update.

Some ideas on reinvigorating Starbow:
  • Consolidate
    Starbow feels like a large nightclub with not enough clubbers and everyone spread out too far. The other Starbow thread should be closed and concentrate all discussion here. Also set the starbow reddit to private (its a ghost town) and close the Facebook page.

  • Reconnect
    Attract new people by moving some of the website activity back here, maybe with regards to game design and news discussion. Find a way to reengage with the community on reddit as all starbow content is currently instantly downvoted (I'm not sure if people hate the game or feel it's a threat to sc2).

  • Website Changes
    Replace the "KR Ladder Coming Soon" from the front page as over promising looks bad and hide the "Board Statistics" panel to remove the incentive for people to add fake members to the site. Also adding all the remaining forum profile pictures and publicly releasing all the replays either as a file dump or on replay sharing site would attract interest.

  • Client Changes
    Rebuild the experience around team games to attract new members. If it could search on more than one game mode (e.g. I want to play either a 1v1, 2v2 or a Big Game Hunters game (on any server) it would reduce the wait time. Consider adding a calendar option to the client to select your future availability. This data could be integrated on the website to calculate happy hours when a lot of people will be online to play. Making the client simpler and more idiot proof would help new users get into the game.

  • Game Changes
    Redesigning the game as an Extension Mod would make it easier for map designers to test ideas and also create new game modes (e.g. Starbow Macro Micro). Integrating with GameHeart would improve the spectator experience for tournaments and help sell it to sponsors.

I partially think in a similar way you do, HirO. I'll give your post a well thought trough and talk with the other members of the team and community about how they feel regarding the "thining out" and the extension.

I'd like to have the client changes as well, but he have just picked up new people and it will take some time get new stuff. On the other side, web client might be closer than we think.

Yes, its still fairly active with a stable niche community. To find people to play with, go to the Chatchannel "StarBow" in Bnet (Not the Group chat channel). You can also visit the forums: http://starbowmod.com/ and play ranked ladder. To actually play the game you have to look for "Starbow" in the Arcade.

I enjoyed this game a lot. I have a couple of questions:
- why Void Ray was removed?( Terran has banshee for midgame air-to-ground pressure, zerh has muta, while toss...
- dont warp gate seem a bit useless compared to normal ones (time of accesability, recharge, no dragoons)?
- do you plan to add Ravager/Cyclone/Disruptor/Adept in the mod?

1)Protoss has cheaper scouts and Sentinels
2) Gateways should be better and warpgates are still not useless.
3) no the only unit from LotV that made it in some form in the game was the Herc (although there isnt a Herc anymore in LotV), which we renamed Merc.
