Why is the base in the middle not applicable? Understanding that would maybe help me undertand it all.
But look even at Lost Temple ("the most default map ever") in BW, the 3rds are way more towards the center than the golds on Shattered Temple. From current SL maps - look at Monte Cristo and Outlier (I don't know personally, them just browsed Liquipedia). But basically every map that came with BW from Blizzard was like that! But I think they are not too relevant now ...

Well first of all, center bases were already terrible in BW. A player that could take and hold them was already winning anyway. The only "good" use was for Zerg to take a reasonable proxy hatch to have faster reinforcement, however strategies like that were mostly used for Hydra all- ins and therefore the hatch would usually be placed even closer to the enemy (only talking about games I've seen myself, so not older than 3 years).
In SC2 center bases too strong for Terrans because of Planetary Fortresses. Still, it's just a pretty bad feature overall. And yes, the maps you named do have a couple bases towards the middle, however they are everything but standart for BW maps. Also no maps have been made by Blizzard for the last 10 years
EDIT: Almost forgot, don't ever look at Lost Temple as a standart map, it's actually pretty weird in BW. It's not positionally balanced at all. It's neither reflective nor rotational symmetry, therefore the 3rds are very different between the 4 starting positions.

Important Question!
I have a tourny starting in a few days featuring one of my maps.
the problem is that the first time I start the map I get get dropped instantly, after that everything seems fine?
does anyone know what could cause this?

Guys, I uploaded some SC2-Blizzard maps with my own mod on Battlenet, having them opened for public, however when I play on them, I cannot save replay. Other players dont have that problem. For older versions, it worked, but I did not used original Blizz maps but old map versions like Metal 1.0. How can I fix this problem?
Edit: I realised, asking another friend(this time not dumb friend) that it is actully impossible for anyone who played it to save replay. Anyone can provide help?
Edit 2: I found that all maps have not "Replay Recording" disabled, which is really wierd because on battlenet, they acts like that. Any idea about that?
Edit 3: Solved. Problem was in use of symbol ":" in name of map. Still names of players who played in replay do not appear.

I recently got an amazing computer, and the ingame graphics settings are at max, but when I use the map editor it won't show the models on the max graphics like I want them to. What's the problem and how do I fix it?

It is possible to change the graphics settings in the editor by going to "file->preferences" then selecting the combo item named "video" then changing the settings to whatever.
or have you done that, yet the editor still seems to have low detail models, even on high/ultra graphics settings?

Thank you very much, I just wanted to know whether the editor settings were independent of the game settings, and if so how to change them.

Anyone know any good SC2 singleplayer custom maps that are just build up an army and go kill/defend against an AI? Something kinda like a few of the campaign maps just harder preferably.

What's the RE and TE mean at the end of some map names? Are there other tags similar to these? ♥ Thanks

RE = REmake TE = Tournament Edition (I think) LE = Ladder Edition (Tal'darim Altar LE)
also
the map making teams (tpw, los, iccup, crux, etc) also sometimes tag maps with the team name in front (TPW Ohana)
tournaments and organizations will sometimes put other tags onto maps as well (WCG2011 GF Shakuras Plateau)

I'm not sure how many of those exist, but basically E is always = Edition and the first letter is something that makes sense^^

you get those little critters at your base for getting "achievements" in that custom like win 10 games, winning a lot of money etc. etc.

Pretty sure it's like a cloaked unit in that you need to have detection currently on them to see which is hallucinated.

Hi, I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I'm very new to mapmaking, but I'm eager to learn. I usually cruise to Starcraft and Starcraft Strategy forums, but the mapmaking section looks awesome.. if there are some links that are available to get me started, that'd be great. =) thank youuu
