I have quite some experience regarding map making AND i think it is currently not possible making a APM Counter, From all the maps i played none had them, And since its not a thing inside the editor but a observer/rplay thing. People are free to correct my post tough.

1. Click "Show More" on the custom maps menu on Bnet.
2. Should happen automatically when you join the game.
3. You can thank BNet 2.0 for that

My Simple Question:
- Is there a wiki or something of that nature about the SC2 Editor? Is there a forum subsection that i cant find on here? I want to learn a lot more than what i am doing right now in the editor but i cant seem to find a good database of information.
- My main problem is how to add in menus / Dialog boxes while the map is running. Similar to the Unit tester where you can just pick what to spawn. Where are dialog boxes and the like located or how do i go about designing them?
Thanks if anyone could answer my questions

I am trying to work on an idea for a game mode, but I am quite bad at using the editor. How would I go about coding/triggering a unit so that based of kills/points, it gets an upgrade (specific to that type of unit ie marine) at a certain number of kills or points? How would I go about making a "point" system and utilizing it in the previous question? Are these things possible? Is there a way to make it global? If I said any marine gets, say, a combat sheild if they get 3 kills, can I do that without making a trigger for each individual unit?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

hi. this will be my 2nd post here. the first got ignored, must be my bad breath... I would like to know what to tag my mele mod? It's an add on on the mele... so technicaly not a ums...?
thank you for anyone answering

While I'm not sure if this is right, if its not melee, its UMS. UMS pretty much means it's not what the regular game is, as far as I know.

how do I remove abilities from the game? I want to remove chrono boost/calldown mule/warpgate/spawn larva among others
i went to data module and tried all i could but i couldnt seem to remove any abilities
edit, i used a blizzard melee ladder map as the base to edit from. then i changed name and some map info and published it. still cant remove stuff

The easiest way is to just remove the ability from the unit that can use it. This keeps it in game, but is not accessible.
In the data module, units tab, select the unit. Then select the "Ability" tab. Click the ability you want to remove. Below it on the right there's a red 'x'. Click that, and the ability can no longer be used in game

Thanks, could you reference from where you got that? I'm obviously looking for a specific name. Not to be blunt, but "altered" has a bad "press/ambiance" ring to it... but I'm still interested in where you got that "altered melee" from (w3?).
Just to be clear: the melee option in sc sets a number of specific game options... mod is a generic name, basically means you're changing stats (for instance: lowering destructible rocks hp is an interesting borderline example: the gameplay remains unaltered but is expanded to new potential heights.. so it is changed, just not in the same way as a ums trigger rigged map would change the gameplay). mod is like map or file or other... by the way I'm aware that they are a bunch of those "melee mod" out there, but in my view they're not identified in "layman's term' form"...

All that you describe seems doable, albeit as anything in the editor it's tedious and long (particularly the testing it out so it works part). I'm not sure you would need triggers most of the time (maybe for "point system"), for starters I'd suggest you duplicate and "scale" already existing data... a few pointers: 1/just remember to change the copy you made and not try on the original (abilities upgrade units whatever), cause you (obviously) can't change the "original stats"... also the editor has a habit of duplicating all over the place so do it neat or else you'll get lost... 2/most units or "specifics" have "actors" attached to them (that's one of the pains and joy of this version of blizz's latest work) they have to be taken into account... 3/finally all the different data (unit actor behavior doodad whathaveyou...) are all in tight relationships... and we all know what those are like, so good luck...
Crafting a functionnal experience system is what most mod mappers are really into, start with toying around with the heroes who "showcase" a functional system to see what's what and see where that gets you...
I concur, go to sc2mapster (BEST mapmaking help site)... and most of all keep asking questions (cause mappers are dry on answers if you have not dabbled in the editor already)...

Do you mean the units or cinematics?
If yu mean the units: in order to get the campaign units, you must have a map or mod with the campaign dependencies... in short, if you create a new map, when selecting data at the first dialog window, you select "campaign", hence the units should be accessible in the unit window.

You can add this to a file you want in file dependencies (but this is not as good a method after changing/tampering with the data)

Of course some specific units might take time to find if their name or placement in the different folders might be ludicrously difficult to find... zeratul and the battlecruiser should be a piece of cake (favour using the SEARCH to save time) ...also great mappers have added models that will of course not be accessible.
oh ... bitte canst du "glhf" aus deutsch fur mich Übersetzen (so bad at german sorry)
