variations are bugged, has been for a couple versions. i havent been able to remove them so i just start a new map file and copy everything over.

I'm not sure where to ask this but I need some volunteer players to test a rebalanced melee map. Can anyone help? pm me pls. Only EU.

yes, this is where you should ask..
since a while has passed without any answer(s) and you are talking to players more than mapmakers, you should post a thread
good luck, testers are hard to come by

Yea, it's hard to get testers. Your best bet, as silly as it sounds, is to just go open up a lobby and hope someone joins. If you go an actually ask people in chat they'll mostly just assume your map is garbage.

+ Show Spoiler [figured this all out, nvm] +Ok stupid question, probably answered before, but I can't find it online anywhere:
You know how maps have previews in the arcade, like a title screen or whatever and then they have more screenshots when you click into them etc? I am doing a melee map and I just want the preview to be the map itself, and then when you click in to have maybe a couple shots of the map in game view or whatever like how map threads show maps on TL. How do I do that?
Do I go Map>Battle.net Info>How To Play Screenshots>Import ? The problem I'm running into is that the size requires 800x600 and the file size won't resize properly. It either cuts off too much or is way too small.. And how do I denote which file goes where in the previews or whatever if I have multiple pics?
PS- Under Map properties, there is a toggle for preview map image, game minimap image, and minimap resolution which are all on. What does this do, because it isn't doing anything from what I can tell.
PPS- What do all the battle.net info tabs do? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

What are these flying insects in my map?
|
possibly Hyperion interceptors (can't remember their actual names)

Nah, those are just little things that occur in that particular skybox. They've been pointed out by somebody before, I forget who, and they're just a little easter-egg sort of thing.

Hey, I want to submit a few maps of mine to the RB contest but I have a problem. My hard drive failed and I lost everything on it, I'm getting it replaced and getting my laptop back today. So I need to install SC2 and the editor.
The maps are already uploaded onto Bnet as unlocked. I don't have any of the information from them though. Once I have the editor and SC2 back on my computer, is there a way to download my map from Bnet to the editor so I can make changes and take pictures for submission? Could someone explain it to me in detail please?
Thank you - Roy

you open map editor
file open maps / online / your published
if it is unlocked AND published publicly, it should appear

I didn't know if where to post this, so i'll ask here.
Would it be possible to create a 3v3 map or 4v4 map that allows the player to choose their spawn location before the match starts?

Is there a YABOT type map for HOTS? All the ones that come up on the search seems to be for WoL

yes it is possible, via triggers, but you would "choose" once "in" the map.. not in the lobby
the map would load and then you would have a "pre game window" that allows for this option

How do you change the minimap on the loading screen to an actual picture of the map? Or is it just like that for all maps nowadays?

I believe a custom image can be used by opening the map menu (same menu to swap textures, symetry tool etc) and then press map loading screen.

Is there a way to save my map without publishing to bnet? If so, where is it stored locally? I often try to save my maps, but when I open it again the changes are not saved, or there is simply no file to be found.
Right now I am simply using File + Save As (User/MyDocuments/Starcraft2/Maps), but it is resulting in the problems stated above. Is there something I am missing in the process? Note that this happens for both melee and arcade maps.

When you save as User/MyDocuments/Starcraft2/Maps the file will be saved to that directory. You can then make a copy of the file yourself for your own back up purposes.
Then if this problem occurs you can open the backup file using the editor.
This hasn't happened to me for a long time but the editor used to not save my maps properly. So I would be editing a file and saving regularly then the next day go to load the file and would have lost several hours of work because there was some bug in the editor when it came to saving. This has been reported by many people since SC2 first came out but doesn't seem to happen to everyone so there are people doubting the problem existed and saying "oh, you just forgot to save" but it has happened to me (and others) many times.
I got around this by saving regularly, making backup copies of the file and every hour or so I would restart the editor. It's a pain to have to close the editor and then load it back up again every hour but it solved the problem for me.
But like I said, this hasn't happened to me for a long time so I figured it had been patched.
