Boxer, Savior, Nada, iloveoov) Right now, all pro's are too close in play skill, that a bonjwa will statistically never happen though Flash is kinda making me reconisder Um, I wasn't seriously suggesting Light was a bonjwa. I said it would be hilarious if he suddenly became one after years of being the quintessential invisible and mediocre player. Light was never mediocre. Just invisible lol.

I always felt he was like the perfect definition of mediocre. Good enough to rack up wins somewhat consistently in PL and qualify for SLs every now and then, but never good enough to make any kind of run for a SL title. Perfectly showed by his barely above 50% winrate up until WL started. Maybe this season will change it.

Unfortunately he flared in the era of IPX_Zerg aka jesus zerg. He's been a solid player for a while but always behind Sea in MBC.
He's kinda like Hwasin and Sea in my book. A solid player with great mechanics but never the "star power" to strike it deep in SL's. (okay well.. Hwasin aside)

So...remember when we were all waiting with bated breath for Flash to briefly break 2400 Elo?
Yeah...he's at 2417 now. You need to maintain like an 85% winrate to keep that.
|
Next month flash is gonna be top of the PR, and there won't even be an entry for the explanation.
|
Now he just to win another final, which seems very likely.

Nope, to maintain this he has to never lose. Any loss to anyone, Jaedong included, will drop him down 10 points because he's over a hundred points above his competition.

I'm pretty sure Flash is hacking. Or he's a robot. No human can play this well...
|
flash and jaedong both looked solid today imo

I hope he keeps it up so we can see another Flash vs JD finals. This time in the OSL.

Flash at 1 is of course 100% given. But I'd like to see some Shuttle love on the next rank, the guy has been beasting it up pretty good lately, 12-3 in the last 15 games. Maybe 3-6 somewhere?
|
I'm amazed he's kept his 2400ish elo around for months...
No one was even close to 2400 and thats like his standard now...
|
Yay JD finally starting to protect his #2.

No one was even close to JD's ELO.

shuttle should be 9th or 10th if anything and it's kind of early to speculate anyway. but leta is obviously off lol

JD still loses to way too many scrubs to maintain a really high ELO. He did even when he was at his most dominant.
Also, even Flash said that Zerg is a difficult race to play. Flash's ideal reactive mindset, his unparalleled micro/macro and terran's defensive nature, make it like a perfect storm. When Flash is behind, he can turtle, when he's ahead, he can micro (even rines against lurks). I can't see any zerg ever doing that. Nobody else will ever be able to break 2400, I think.

That was before top players all started playing over 100 sanctioned games per year, with the tip-top players playing more like 150 games per year.
There's a higher number of data points, more progamers playing more games, especially top players, who have a better chance than ever before of attaining a long win streak (Starcraft progaming is extremely dependent on the metagame -- a metagame shift can earn you a good win record over a short time period if it plays to your advantage). Situations like WL tend to be particularly advantageous.
Regarding Light: he's always been like Sea, someone with a very strong overall game play, but never able to cut his way too deep into the individual leagues. He tends to be strong in PL and early tournament stages, but then fall off somewhere around Ro16/Ro8. That's been his MO for years.
