Same player, same skills, different letters in front of his name. More money in Huk's pocket too. What is the bad part?
Sorry all the EG anti-fans, it seems Huk didn't really take you into consideration when choosing what to do with HIS life... the tragedy, the horror! Better go cry some more, maybe that plus a million whiny posts will make him change his mind?
Edit: I love Liquid' but I love them for more than just having Huk on their team, in fact I am more excited about Sheth/Hero/Ret than I ever was about Huk
Dear, new guy.
Did it ever occur to you that some people might have been fans of Liquid as a whole team? and not just the player HuK? For the people that have been on Liquid and followed them for years, this is a pretty big deal.
For the people who have followed Liquid for years, this shouldn't be a very HUGE ordeal as Huk is a newer member of TL, and if you love TL then you realize Huk came and left but TL is still there and just as strong with Ret and Sheth both taking Blizz-Con spots, and HerO just joining. TL looks to be in a great position with or without Huk. Just my opinion. Don't think 1 year (don't believe it was even a full year yet) should be warranting this emotional "my team is Liquid" response.
I don't know if this has occurred to you or not, but seeing as how SC2 has only been around for a little more than a year, a year is actually quite a bit of time. Even TL as a whole has been around for about a decade? 1 year is still 10% of TL's existence. Time wise, it would be the equivalent of a player putting in 5-10 years on a pro sports team. Maybe not enough to qualify them as a lifer but definitely long enough to make an impact on the fans and become a fan fave.
It occured to me, I'm pretty good with basic arithmetic. 1 year being equivalent to 5-10 years is a pretty significant gap to try and use as an analogy. Team Liquid remains Team Liquid with or without Huk. If I'm a TL fan right now I'm pretty excited about the rest of the team and the direction things are going with some new blood and Ret playing very solid. Huk wasn't with TL before his MLG win. I'm not saying that TL fans shouldn't be upset to an extent, but to the extent that some people are taking it is entirely absurd. Huk could have been your favorite TL'er, but if you're a TL fan you realize there's more to the team than Huk.

dear,,,,,, guy who doesn't read,
what does the edit say (that you quoted which means it was there when you read the first line and hit reply)
I know what it said, if you love Liquid so much you would know that HuK was a huge part of Liquids success and it's a huge loss to have him switch team. I still love every single Liquid player but don't deny the fact that HuK was a huge part of their success.
I think Liquid was a huge part of Huk's success, not the other way around. And while it was nice to have the dream team for a week with Sheth/Ret/Hero/Huk I think Liquid will be just fine without him. It seems to be you that isn't a fan of the whole team, in contradiction to your original post. You seem to be saying "Liquid's future is bleak without Huk" which I refuse to agree with, I think Liquid will continue to build on their past successes.
The only thing that got harder is now they have to play against Huk lol
I agree that HuK benefited from Liquid more than the other way around but I don't think you can find fault with saying that HuK leaving is a big hit to the team...Results-wise he was one of their top 3 players atm, and currently, their only Code S player (here's to hoping that HerO steps it up). While Liquid's future is not bleak without HuK, it is a big hit to the strength of their team.
Best of luck, HuK! What others - and yourself - have written here is true testimony to the fact that you rock not only as a player, but far more importantly as a person.
Hope you continue to go from strength to strength with EG and build upon the nurturing you've had in TL!
If TeamLiquid can send him support and love than I can as well. I enjoy watching EG play but I'm not a real fan. I will always be a fan of Huk's and I will love watching him play even if he is on team EG or any other team, but Liquid is the team I love the most and to see one of the players I love the most is a sad day for me. I hope HuK does well and continues to win. I also hope that one day he will return to Liquid but until then when I see that "EG" before the HuK I'll remember this page and remember the words of Liquid posted here. GLHF Liquid'HuK. To me, you'll always be Liquid.

That's obvious and I never said anything to disagree with that. My point is, it's not just "Oh, it's only been a year, shouldn't be getting all emotional." when the entire scene is only about a year old and TL itself isn't that old. For people that started following TL with SC2, HuK has basically been part of "Their Team" for the entire duration of them being an esports fan. For someone who has followed TL for longer, Liquid'HuK is still a significant chunk of time that they have invested in.
Its impossible to please everyone. Regardless of the announcement people would have complained.
That being said congrats to Huk and EG. Big fan of both so I'm quite excited to see how Puma/Huk/Idra house will go down. They'll each have very strong practice partners.
Sorry to Liquid. Still a great team and a big fan as well.
fly to US for NA bnet invitational fly back to korea for code S code S matches move up for no apparent reason (gomtv wanted to troll the big announcement) win code S and move on to RO16 fly to IEM cologne 1 day of rest before playing in tournament community backlash for joining EG (lol)

I hear you entirely. Just think if people took a step back and looked at the picture on a broader scale, things would become much clearer for the pure TL fans.
maybe huk should've seen this video before making his decision edit: skip to 2:06 for the part i'm referring to.
though we're not privy to all of the information and grubby's situation is a bit different, grubby stayed loyal to his clan despite poor management and lack of salary because it was his 'home.' im pretty sure team liquid has great management and im certain there is not a lack of salary... it's sad to see huk be bought out this way. leaves a bitter taste in my mouth....
The last few weeks were the negotiation period of Huk's contract. We had known since a few months ago that it would be a difficult period. Coming off winning championships at Dreamhack and HSC, and with a legion of fans supporting him, it was obvious that there would be a lot of interest in acquiring HuK. For us, this meant making him an offer that we felt would rival any other offer that we thought could be made. To the furthest extent our finances would allow, we tried to keep HuK with the team. HuK, too, wanted to stay very much. He loved being a part of Liquid, and was willing to stay with us for significantly less than other teams. However, the offer that he received from EG wasn't just significant, it was potentially life-changing.
EG fully recognized HuK's value as a player, and were absolutely single-minded in making sure they received his signature. Huk was placed at a crossroads that could influence the rest of his life and made the choice that he thought was best for him. I understand EG's reasoning in going after NA's best player and biggest superstar, and HuK's decision for joining them.
I want to know how much his salary is!! It must be massive
This is definitely around 150,000USD or more. This means that HuK will be able to buy a car, put a down payment on a house and have enough money to live extremely comfortable.
The only problem is, if this contract over a period of at least 3 years, its not that great. If EG suddenly disappeared next year (not saying it will), he'd be out of a 6 figure salary to support his lifestyle.
Anything less than 100,000, I would consider not life that changing since you could probably just get a paper pushing job somewhere for close to that much with room for advancement.
HuK is at the peak of the professionals within his region/country (US/Canada/South-America) and anything less than 150-200k would be a huge disappointment since most top tier professionals in a respectable paper pushing company make around 750-1000k / year. That is TOP professional (as in top 1%) which HuK is at in his career.
