Towns overall activity has tended towards lurky, without compensation from many analytical posts. How does one self motivate themselves and bring the thread back to active? I faced this scenario in nomination. So it is a recurring scenario.:-) | ||

However they kind of lack synergy and that's not that good I'd advise to create a framework for PTP games There can be different frameworks for it depending on each game. I already expanded this a little bit on the actual Themed Game Mafia game: Basically the hosts provides the "foundation" for roles to be created. For instance, the host can say: "You can create roles that use points. These points can be used in a special hidden way, and in a known market/way to use points/etc. Points can be exchanged in different ways, and there is no limit to how roles can interact with them. Use this information wisely. Also there will be time travel. This mechanic will be included and any role can use it. However you can't use time travel and have a point-related role at the same time bla bla bla [more stuff]" After that framework is created, people have a better idea of what roles to create, and these will synergize better between each other. For instance, someone can create a role that gives you double points, while someone else creates a role to steal points. Someone can create a role that can transfer X points between 2 other players, someone can create roles that use points to force people to use points on their abilities that manipulate points that use points to point pointy points. You can't create stuff like that with normal PTP, which are usually just unrelated roles doing separate stuff that can just be described as "Conditional Vigs, conditional DTs, creates a super amazing mechanic but only your role can use it so it sucks and nobody will pay attention to it, and you will most likely not even use it (because it's unlikely you would if the role is balanced), etc". Of course you don't need to use points or time travel. That's where the framework stuff comes in. A new host can introduce other aspects to it, or stuff. There needs to be synchronization for role synergy in PTP, which doesn't exist at all in real games (nobody can communicate ideas with anybody before creating roles). The host seems to be the perfect role to include this synchronization....unless you guys can think a new way to do so | ||

Town Role: "Thrifty JOTA" You get points by having the other players in the game give them to you, similar to the way mayoral votes work You can spend those points on night actions similar to JOTA The interesting part for that player is analyzing who is giving him points in the thread (ie will the mafia not give him points in the thread out of fear of his power or will they blend by also giving the points-JOTA credits to use. Role starts with 0 points, so they must be earned/garnered in the thread. Encourages good play and interaction with many players. Possible downside could be this role is given to a weaker/newer player who does not have the thread presence/charisma to obtain those points. | ||
