Posting it is absolutely crossing the line and violates the spirit and rules of the game, I feel, in a very serious manner. Don't do that.

The vets don't jerk each other off - but you have to understand that some people listen to others more than they're gonna listen to you no matter how well reasoned you are (or perceive yourself to be). It's a byproduct of being more familiar with someone's playstyle, or having a better read on someone than on you, or something else usually. It has nothing to do with "newbie hate" or "vet circle-jerking" or whatever you perceive it to be. It's just playing the game of Mafia with people who know each other better than they know you. Give it time - you'll be one of the people listen to more than others soon enough.

Yeah, look that vet comment was in haste... but if you must know

it was a crumb i was town.. cos i did the exact same thing (to better reviews) in amfia LIX

mind you .. that game.. it was pretty much Bugs/Toads/Marv just ignoring everyone else.. so teh situation wasnt identical.

This is something I wanted to talk about on the podcast. If you go after lurkers early you're never put in the situation you just described, and you get links to the scummy deflection to boot.

Obviously if the whole fucking town lurks there's nothing you can do, but I feel like some lurker death early on would dissuade those kinds of shady tactics in future games...

I've also started to think we need to punish bad town play more. People like grush57 surviving to endgame is an atrocity and having this attitude of "Well, that's just what he does" is really hurting TL Mafia as a whole. If the level of play is going to increase, resulting in better and more entertaining games, there has to be punishment for effortless and bad play and not permissiveness. If not lynches, then temporary bans or forcing these players to play with a coach/shadow in their next game.

I've seen people posting out of game stuff like that before and it never was a problem. No matter if we're talking about stuff like irc logs to prove someone is actively lurking and not just buisy, or showing posts someone did on TL outside the mafia thread to show the same or whatever else, or posting old pm's between people from older games / discussions about other games.

All happened before and it's not against the rules though I do admit I made it to the rules for the games I'm hosting that posting out of thread "logs" isn't allowed anymore, no matter if mason logs, irc logs or whatever else. In this game it was fine. I don't see a problem with what you're referring to at all.

If you want to talk about how I was a dick to you / VE on purpose I totally agree, that shouldn't have happened and I apologize for that. I don't think I was cheating at all though.

All game I was asking myself how this attitude ever became prominent. Seems really anti-town to not kill him every game for playing that way.

You then shared the information with the thread though. I would not have pursued a ban had you just ignored hassy or not posted about what had happened, but you felt compeled to "save him" by posting why you had a town read. This violates the integrety of the game and is cheating.

You seriously think that telling the thread what happened had no influence on the game or people's reads? You cannot tell me you actually believe that.

No, I don't care if you're a dick Toadesstern but I strongly oppose the reference of outside material to create doubt about your alignment. Marvellosity PM'd me at the beginning of the game saying he was sure I'm town and was playing very well. If I posted that, it would absolutely be cheating and if I wasn't modkilled it would be a problem.

In fact, it was the only reason I even considered for a moment that you were town.

Lynching lurkers can lead to a lot of short term failure but I think the state of TL Mafia as a whole is more important now watching how this game deflated. I apologize to town for losing us this game. By the end of the game I looked at my Day 1 filter and was blown away by how well I played in comparison. This trend continues with my town play.

You were sort of a lurker. I think the problem with you was you seemed way too interested in doing what you thought town wanted you to do which implies guilt/fear.

I think what you said about Hassy was commendable tbh although I would have talked about it with a mod first. It was using those logs and referencing outside conversations to try to convince people that you are town. Games need to be insulated.

I need a ban past Day 1 or some kind of clause where I have to list all my reads at the end of Day 1 and I'm never allowed to vote for anyone else

I think in Insane Mafia I PM'd a guess list of the scumteam to Artanis at the end of Day 1 that was 100% correct then voted for mislynches every single day following that

thing is, Gremyst is saying I'm getting banned for using my information on painting hassy green which I did not do imo, you are saying I'm getting banned because I did something that is fine by the rules and done in pretty much every single game and if it's not needs to be added to the rules as no posting out of thread information and I'm saying I'm fine with being banned for being a dick.

I shadowed Promethelax in this game, lol.

I learned that if you are scum and you decide to say something stupid, you should stick with it, or backpedal in the least suspicious way possible.

Good game folks. I enjoyed following it. Thanks players and hosts.
It puts the GG in the basket. It does this whenever it's told or else it gets the Mutalisks again.
