You can personally prefer some more than others but to make such a negative statement about a sport is to disrespect the hard work the athletes put in irrespective of their profession.

Everyone involved is very emotionally invested into the competition and will try to protest anything to get an advantage. I don't know the exact procedure for the Olympics but sometimes these payments are just deposits and are given back if you win the appeal.

They didn't work that hard and make that goddamn awesome performance, that you wouldn't be able with all the steroids in the world, for you to shittalk about politics instead of sports. Did they actually fail any drug test? Can you prove any of the nonsense you're saying? Give the men some damn respect, they definitely earned it. Effects of steroids: Random rage and small genitals! And then to the more serious part: First of all: Talking about someone not able to compete at the olympics is just another way of saying shut up. It is ridiculously abused and complete non-sense. Let me show you another example of the same logic: "How the hell can you critizise the great leader if you have never been one?". Second, there is something to be said about understanding a charicature. I am sorry you did not grasp it, but I do not know how to make it any more clear: Weightlifting = doping and North Korea = great leader. and extremism. Third: I do know a few things about doping, though not from experience. If you are smart about it, it is almost impossible to trace because of it leaving the body or getting degraded or something third. Look at Fuerto: He is convicted of supplying doping to enough people to start a Tour de France. The man was caught because of tattletales and his careless name-giving lead to a sleugh of professional athletes getting caught with their hand in the cookie-jar. That these highprofile athletes was never tested positive is a testiment to how little the doping tests can reveal. Fourth: Who said the burden of proof is on me? Demanding proof of abuse is approaching me like a judge who have to weigh in on the side of caution. (Everybody is innocent untill proven guilty.) While I am flattered, it is not what I am so I see it as a privilegue to be proven wrong on occations. The suspicion on weightlifting is not getting weaker with very few and less good participants from countries with an anti-doping history.

Then there are spoilers on the front page of every news site since it all happened 6 hours prior. There a stream somewhere that I'm missing out on? You'd think in 2012 I could just pick the sport I wanted to watch and be on my way.

It's not live, they jump between things almost at random, never repeat what stage the event is at, hardly ever show another country, interviews suck, and the announcers for everything are just awful -- except the gymnastics guy. Website is a fucking mess. Then there are spoilers on the front page of every news site since it all happened 6 hours prior. There a stream somewhere that I'm missing out on? You'd think in 2012 I could just pick the sport I wanted to watch and be on my way. NBC has live stream coverage of basically everything(mostly without commentators), Their content on their tv channel is crap, but their online coverage is pretty conclusive, although seems to be worse than other countries still. Go to nbcolympics.com and then go to live coverage, then go to full schedule.(you need to have cable or what not that gets this coverage, I dont have any but my mom does so I'm using her info) For instance you can watch ONLY mens gymnastics vault, or only archery 1-32 elimination, none of that skipping around that the main channel does. Good luck avoiding spoilers, idk how to do that if you don't watch it live, you can watch mostly everything live on the site, but you can't watch everything at once, so youll get some things spoiled. http://www.nbcolympics.com/online-listings/day=july-30/index.html (this is the full schedule, you can go rewatch anything from the previous days as well)

I dont see you in the olympics so just shut up and stop looking down and degrading these athletes without any kind of proof. show us proof then you can smack talk but before that please dont...not all weightlifters are dopers. Doping only improves and increases their abilities by a little to gain that edge. Even without dope these are best of the best athletes. Even if you used dope you wouldnt even make it to the olympics so stop degrading them. Every elite athlete use roids, PERIOD. It does NOT invalidate their performance, because their workout is still crazy, and again, everyone uses it. The performance enhacment business is always a step ahead of anti-doping agencies, the Balco scandal is a good example of this.

And addressing the practicality of weightlifting is kind of retarded. Do we still fight ancient wars? Nope so practically speaking training for javelin is useless. Do we need to jump over a tall obstacle in reality? What are stairs, elevators, and escalators. Do we need to row a boat to reach a destination? The invention of cars, ships, and planes made that obsolete Do you see where this is going? TBH the only "useful" sports that people practice for are probably running and swimming.
