People are just disappointed that it wasn't as good as they had hoped it might be, considering it was the major event and the result of many months worth of play.

Yeah thats just silly, if they really need to use soem abbreviation they should pick proper one.

I feel like Jax should have gotten more HP as he was dying very frequently while doing nothing in the early fights. Obviously, his splitpushing was very good, but most top laners can split push. Jax didn't get to make use of his strong dueling capabilities against anyone. It was a big deal in so far as Godlike was completely incapable of dealing with Jax 1v1 in any of the games, which pressured Royal into making really risky choices that never really ended up working out.

"kk" is just colloquially derived from "k". "mm" is actually used as a formal abbreviation for "million", while I doubt you can use "kk" in a document. The latin word for "thousand" is "mille" (numeral - M). So it goes like this: 'million' -> 'M * M' -> 'mm' (because MM would be interpreted as 2000). And it actually makes more sense, because "million" comes from the same Latin root, so why mix it with k/kilo which is Greek. Edit: I'm too lazy to search for a proper source but it says here that "mm = Million in some financial contexts": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mm

However, I have to say this year it's hands down better for LoL than TI. There was just a lot more coverage and improvements overall. TI3 felt really rushed because you had only 3 weeks so it was just game after game after game with not much in between. The fact that someone who wasn't even part of the Dota scene was the highlight of TI3 says a lot imo. The final games were definitely much better though, but that has nothing to do with production. Quality of games is king, but obviously the companies have no control over that. I agree with many of your observations, but I have mostly opposite conclusions. Having a grandiose tournament in which most of the content is games with very little in between seems ideal to me. I don't understand how "just" game-after-game-after-game is a negative here. In fact, my major beef with Riot's tournament was that there weren't enough games, ESPECIALLY for how long they drew the tournament out. That the Kaci interviews were so well-received actually speaks volumes to me. It's pretty universally agreed that Valve had the better tournament structure AND higher game quality, but their non-game content still made waves. The majority of Riot's between-game filler is utterly forgettable. I find the player interviews to be, in general, a horrifying mix of canned questions/answers and awkwardness. The major difference between the two that I noticed was the every single person who talked to Kaci actually wanted to be there, and it showed. Mostly I just think Valve did a masterful job of playing to their audience. Riot threw a lot of money at production, and I think they mostly accomplished their goal of mimicking the sporting industry, and obviously had higher stream numbers and all that. But I think Valve put on the better show given both their target audience and the tournament's integrity.

I remember Navi trying to pull off some Pudge Chen combo which was working at times but not often enough and they were getting more and more behind, then they managed to pull off the combo then got a successful team fight engage and Navi just took over and snowballed to victory despite being behind most of the game. I still much prefer LoL's team fight and action though.

Though as it's been said to death on this forum, a few new slot-inefficient cost-efficient items could probably solve ... etc.

this is why throws in the west are so prominent, because it's kinda easy to throw after a lost fight. a team like c9 stands out precisely because they are not susceptible to this throw mechanic for this particular finals i think people complain about snowballing mostly points to game 2, when the exciting royal come back came up short. but hte fact is, they were actually ahead for a bit, and it took skt amazing plays and royal mistakes for skt to come back again. it wasn't a failed comeback due to snowball mechanics, but 2 opposite comebacks

If these finals happened earlier there would have been more hype and momentum coming off the semis. Meh Riot really fucked up worlds. It's cool that Royal and SKT made it to the finals though I feel like this is only true for people (like you and I, I assume) that looked at the match objectively and knew it would be a 3-0 for an entire week. In the case of people who thought Royal had a chance there was likely some hype created, not sure where they got that idea though. I personally was still really looking foreword to the finals for the spectacle, it was at the Staples center, there was going to be ~30k people there huge moment for league etc. It would be nice if the series could have been closer but for the most part I got what I had adjusted my expectations to want out of the series, got to see Zed one last time(although surprisingly faker Zed was pretty irrelevant that game) and I got to see Bengi solidify his spot in my mind as the tournament MVP.

It was all hype man. That's why you even saw the personalities jump on the underdog. I couldn't help but laugh as they went down the line. They really did hand Monte the silver platter lol. I still found it entertaining regardless and you would hope they might learn something in all those scrims during the week. I still had fun with it but we have a long way to go when it comes to making these sort of tournaments a bit more posh on the production side of things (they aren't really learning as fast as I would want them to be-- it's like they don't watch other events to learn from them). Faker still did his job well and it's more akin to your only as good as your weakest player and everyone on T1 showed up to play. I'd give Bengi the MVP title as well.

If you want good view and sound, it is always better from home on your big screen TV. At least in football/basketball/baseball, you can see everything when you go to a game! And you can hear everything at a concert. This was my view of the stage: + Show Spoiler + There were actually quite a few people who did end up leaving their seats just to watch the games outside, which is kind of sad. It's hard to get excited and into the atmosphere when you can barely see/hear what's going on - which you can do at any other sporting event.
