Probably because Kuro enjoys him in soloQ (and Hecarim with Ignite/TP is popular in soloQ too) and GE Tigers were playing against the 2 worst teams in LCK. It'd be like TSM picking Urgot versus Coast.

Jin Air is not one of the worst teams. Somehow because you play Viktor yourself you acutally think he is a bad champion. I'm pretty sure he is good, but I didn't see/play him enough yet to know why.

Didn't say he's bad, however one of the rules of competitive play is that when two picks do similar things, you take the best one, regardless of whether the other one is good or bad. Viktor isn't the #1 champion in neither a particular field nor a combination of fields (rework removed his lane-bully status, Xerath has stronger poke and AoE, Syndra or Orianna have potentially stronger zoning (Syndra has higher burst too), Ahri is better for picks and safety, etc.)

See when Jayce, still ridiculously strong after his first batch of nerfs, stopped getting picked altogether because he wasn't wttf-broken anymore, same with Kha'Zix. It's not about being good or bad.

I also didn't know about this morning's match-up when posting that, haven't seen the VoD either.

The TP/Ignite Hecarim is clearly a soloQ thing though, been played a bit but without Flash or Ghost and with how much farm he requires it's hard to keep him alive early game.

My question is, why are people picking Hecarim and Viktor together. Almost every time Viktor is picked Hecarim is picked for top lane as well.

I don't think they are connected, teams who want to experiment and find new champions play new experimental champions. Viktor and Hec are the new thing. I actually think they have poor synergy.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

If you red trinket while the enemy has no vision do they see the animation?

What about if you red trinket while the enemy has no vision then they walk into a position where they could see it while it's scanning?

Victor I think is seeing play because he's a strong team fight/utility Mage with decent scaling. The game right now is very heavily teamfight oriented. The objective control, medium range poke and bursty AoE damage all apply well towards winning tea fights and therefore games.

I don't think it's a numbers or OP thing. It's more that his kit brings many things that are worthwhile. Very similar to Lissandra.

No.

Good question. I don't think so. I think if the enemy uses red trinket in front of you, you can't see the particles outside of the pink eye above the champion's head. I could be wrong about that though.

Why doesn't Vayne build Tri Force? She seems like she would like everything on it except for the AP.

Interesting question and I'm not sure if there is really a "simple" answer but I'll try my best.

Let's look at champs that utilize trinity well.

Ezreal and Corki for example:
Trinity generally helps for early power spikes. It gives you a little bit of everything. Both Ezreal and Corki definitely need the mana and have abilities with adequate AP scalings. They benefit from the Phage's passive for chasing down targets and the sheen proc helps with quick trades of over just a few seconds.
So:
Abilities Stronger
Mana
Sheen proc works well for short trades
Phage passive for chasing

Vayne on the other hand gets a lot of her power from her W passive and Ultimate which favor more extended trades and getting as many attacks off as possible. She has no abilities that scale with AP and her kit is very auto attack focused and not ability focused (meaning her spells don't really do damage to other champs, her autos do). Although the sheen proc is nice for a quick Q you will probably lose the trade if you're going for short trades on Vayne because the other bot lane will just use their spells and win the trade and you've purchased wasted stats in the AP as well as mana considering Vayne's negligible mana costs.
On top of all this the Phage's passive isn't really needed as you already have Vayne's chasing passive which is increased in her ult, making the Phage's passive kind of redundant.

So all in all, it's better to spend your gold on attack speed and AD as those will benefit you the most for your money.

Another thing to note is that Vayne isn't nearly as strong early as she is later in the game so spending money on an early power spike item like triforce that is very expensive and has stats you don't use is a fairly inefficient use of gold.

I know this wasn't a simple answer and I apologize but I hope it helps

Is the Trick2g Cinderhulk -> Thornmail build legit? More generally, is Thornmail legit? I feel like there are certain items that have hugely negative stigmas attached to them (Banner of Command, Ohmwrecker, Thornmail), and so no one ever builds them even though they have been buffed either directly or indirectly.

I don't know about the Cinderhulk -> Thornmail combo specifically, but those three items you mentioned are all situationally useful. For example, I really like the combination of Righteous Glory and Ohmwrecker on a tanky support when ahead - it makes breaking inhib turrets and closing out the game so much easier. I only have personal experience with Thornmail as a last item to fight lifestealing ADCs, what kinds of champ is he buying it on, and what is he using it for?

I don't watch his stream but saw some VODs of him building Thornmail as a second item after Cinderhulk. The core concept is basically Cinderhulk/Thornmail/Abyssal/Gromp smite leads to a lot of passive magic damage while keeping you invincible.

Thornmail can be a great item.

I don't love it as a follow-up to Cinderhulk because it doesn't synergize at all with the +25% health, but the damage-to-attacker could be a good synergy as GrandInquisitor pointed out.

I dunno, I don't love it as a theorycraft but Trick2g's mileage may vary.

The concept is that true damage or heavy magic burst will destroy him, he's reliant on getting ahead a bunch to have all these items.
Also he doesn't get any HP if he follows up with Abyssal, which makes it worse.

I actually kinda like thornmail now, especially if I already have randuins. As second item after cinderhulk I would prefer randuins or locket though, depends on the games.

Thornmail can be great, banner can be great, ohmwrecker is crap. I don't think you generally want thornmail directly after cinderhulk though.

Banner is incredible against magic waveclear bullshit. See the game where the only non-magic waveclear that C9's opponent had was The Culling and Meteos just bodyblocked it while the bannered Baron cannon minion demolished their towers.

I'm sure this has been asked before but not trying to go through 55 pages. So is there a complete noob/returning guide, or something similar to a Day9 for LoL. I played like 2 years ago but maybe 50 games, I understand lanes and last hitting but I'm sure the jungle and heroes and meta has changed ( like i knew the meta lol). Maybe some good streamer I've been checking out theoddone, but he's more entertainment IMO which is still good, but looking for things such as what items to get with what heroes and why. Please and Thank you.

I'd be interested in a resource like that as well. A few friends of mine haven't played for years but would be interested in trying out the game again, and some kind of primer would be handy. I've just told them to do whatever they want with teambuilder, and poke the jungle in custom games, to get a grasp on things.

trying to maximize the 25% bonus health passive is silly, i'm more into Frozen Heart than Thornmail, but one of the biggest weaknesses of an early FH/Thornmail is that your health pool is too low to make full use of the armor and getting a solid chunk of HP from Cinderhulk helps mitigate that a lot.
