On the other hand you also can't lose damage anymore by refreshing too early (see what Naut's W used to do when you had too much AS).

I think Blitzcrank is the best candidate for a Smite support. Not only do you get cheesey Smite-grabs, he's also one of the best supports at fucking with the other jungler.

So even if it replaces your sightstone you're also lacking in vision and 200 HP behind. And considering how an early all-in can snowball a bunch of duo lanes, you're asking your opponents to push and all-in you at level 2 or something. Champions taking Smite in the off lane have Teleport to offset a bad trade/gank, and replace Flash with Smite because their mobility allows them to be safer from ganks/all-ins too (try finishing of a Shyvana who presses W and zoom zooms away).

OK, so it seems like a big part of it is that up top smite is replacing flash rather than a combat spell and the supports all need flash. And replacing a combat spell with smite as support doesn't work because it leave you weak early until you finally build the jungle item. considering you have nami as a icon I assume you are a support player, try to realize how often did you not have money for sightstone when you go base(it will be often) and its even worse if you go smite because you only have one summoner spell and as already said you wont have any sightstone. In addition to that how often can you as a support go to jungle camps and clear them? very very rarely and its also rare that you actually are able to clear jungle camps fast enough to farm them

In a big team fight should I focus a Cho gath? On the one hand he does a lot of damage (and my team had a lot more armor than MR). He was level 18, stacked rod of ages, scepter, hat, and maybe something else. He's got annoying abilities, AoE silence, AoE CC, and, as I said, lots of damage. So the focus damage dealers rule of thumb says focus him. On the other hand, he was huge so he probably had 4-5 stacks from his passive, and he had HP from a stacked rod of ages + crystal scepter, and had frozen heart. So the don't focus tanks rule would say to just ignore him. but I feel like ignoring cho would not go well...

Remember that mid lane mages like Cho'Gath and LeBlanc only need a single combo to deal all their damage. You're rarely going to be able to kill them before they can get that combo off. That's why the ADC is often more important damage-wise because he's putting out sustained damage across your whole team. So if Cho'Gath is coming on your ADC and his team is too far behind to be helpful, have your whole team focus down Cho'Gath. If Cho'Gath's team's backline is exposed and he's not an immediate threat, dive his backline and wipe them.

If after starting gromp or krugs you go to take your buff, some of the time shaco is going to smite your buff then kill you when you are on cool downs. But if you don't take your buff and just go somewhere else to avoid him then you make it easy for him to steal it and set yourself behind.

I took up the mid role as within my group of friends (all dota 2 converts of varying skill levels) no one can play mid well. A while back (around January) I purchased Kassadin as I thought he looked cool and fun to play. However nowadays it seems that every LoL website and tier list I read puts Kass at tier-4, or "unplayable", "not amused", "low benefits" etc. As I don't really understand how balance in League works (for example, I would understand the significance of any particular patch in Dota 2, but in league all of it mystifies me) so I'd like to know why exactly Kass is considered such a low tier champ at the moment.

The fairly recent range nerf to Kassadin's R was extremely unpopular and widely viewed as unrecoverable. The LoL community doesn't take any nerfs well, particularly ones that are considered "core" to a champion. Champs fall out of the meta for FAR less than what Kassadin was hit with. Now I've heard some streaming pros (like Voyboy) give the opinion that Kassadin's play style is merely drastically different and that he wasn't as Olaf'd or Veigar'd as some would like to present. Take that with a grain of salt. Now, it's possible (even likely) that there are some matchups that are harder to play as Kassadin after the nerfs. However, in LoL as in DotA, enough practice and experience with a champion can make up for any perceived weakness up to a certain level of play that's somewhere in high Diamond (probably... I'm a shitter and don't really know where the ceiling is). Basically, if you wanna play Kassadin play Kassadin and fuck the haters. The biggest problem you'll have is running into people who will queue dodge because they blindly believe all the websites you've read.

If can help if you ask your team to get ready to help (for example if they try to get enough wave equilibrium that they won't lose much farm if they come). Of course, most of the time they just won't understand it because try finding people with the slightest hint about momentum, trade-offs, etc. in soloQ but you never know. Re: Kassadin He's one of the most mobile champions in the game (before his jump had 700 range, better or equal with all the point'n'click dashes in the game, but with a 7/5/3s cd and only 12s to lose the stacks) so if he can roam and make plays or just clean-up after a fight he's really hard to deal with (used to have a silence on his Q, so casters couldn't even retaliate before he'd jump away). The issue being his poor early laning, and lack of initiation/burst/whatever it is you can expect from other mages (like Ahri, Annie, etc.) so it's harder for him to get rolling and he doesn't fit as well in some comps, plus you need the compensation to be high enough when he gets going. He works better versus unorganised teams, or fights that tend to scatter so you can pick off someone, which usually works well in pub play for obvious reasons, so it's really a matter of not falling too far behind till the first teamfight where you kill 2-3 people in the later stages and suddenly become a permanent threat, or manage to roam and catch a jungler or finish off some side laner. Edit: laning depends. He used to be smashed by some laners like Orianna whose harass was very strong early. For the same reason, Teemo's high dps is super annoying. Kassadin isn't expected to win lane, more to reach 6 first and foremost, then to get rolling with pick offs. If you can reach 6 on even farm or barely behind, then more power to you. His W makes it rather easy to farm under tower if you can dodge the harass so you don't mind being pushed too much, and the magic damage shield combined with your passive (15% reduced magic damage) actually makes you fairly resilient. Starting flask+3 potions is standard because it gives you the sustain to just stay in lane, and not dying is all you need. The shield from Q is received when you cast, not when the projectile hits the target or anything, so you should be able to use it reactively against most champions provided their damage is not instant (Annie stunning you with W (the cone, not the projectile) will trade before you can get the shield for example). Shield+flask+your W's mana sustain means some champions (especially if your opponent starts dring and misses some farm so he doesn't get that much mana back) will end up oom before they can kill you, while you'll still have enough mana to spam Q at them until they're low enough that they have to go away. Unless super fed, Kassadin isn't about 100-0ing people in the early-midgame, you wear them down then you go in.

On April 26 2015 09:12 xAdra wrote: Thanks guys! I actually thought Kassadin was bad because he seemed like such a weak hero in the lane, before level 6. It just seems like any ranged mid hero can destroy him easily and his spell shield is a pretty feeble, skill-dependent and prediction-dependent defense. Is he expected to actually win lanes? Especially against AD mids like Zed and Jayce? Also, is it expected to be completely destroyed by a teemo? Generally, if you win your lane as Kassadin, you must be playing extremely well. It's possible after 6, but Kassadin is certainly not expected to win lane. Try and farm, focus on not dying and you will be able to make up for it late game. I certainly would avoid picking into an AD lane if you can. Not because you'll be smashed, but playing vs an AD damage dealer means a large part of your kit is invalid. Current build at pro level (he's popped up a few times after a recent buff) seems to be Rod of Ages in Athene's Unholy Grail.
