Everything else aside, I'm realizing that my fundamental disappointment with the removals of Dominion and Twisted Treeline, and the failure of Nexus Blitz, is that Summoner's Rift is the only game type where you can play a champion of your choice.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, I get tired of playing on SR--sometimes the map just feels too slow, laning phase gets boring, or I just don't have at least 25, up to 40, minutes to play. But, whereas 4 years ago I could swap over to Dominion ("it's fast! it's fun!") or to Twisted Treeline ("rip red buff") and still play the champion of my choice; and 3 years ago I could still play Twisted Treeline PvP or Co-Op games; and just 14 months ago I could play Twisted Treeline or Nexus Blitz, today I can only play other game modes where I get a random champion.

My Christmas wish is that Riot would simply consider permanently adding at least one other game mode where I could play a champion of my choice.

Hey guys. Time for a little bump to get some (tiny) activity here again. I have a question.

Do you think it's important to stick to one or two lanes for ranked in order to climb efficiently? Or is it considered better to play more roles than that in order to easier maintain a better understanding of all aspects of this game? I see some high ranked players play all sorts of champs and roles in ranked even though they might have a main champ and a main lane.

Fastest way to rank up? Focus on one or two roles with one or two champs. The less you play against your champ the more you can play against everyone else.

I'd make it 3 champs for 2 roles, that way you reduce the chance of getting banned out or picks taken away. Unless they're unpopular with low ban rates.

Everyone in GM + Challenger plays 4 or 5 roles at Masters level simply due to game knowledge.

You get just as good an understanding of the game if you play one or two roles. Each position have different impact on the game and very different playstyle if you plan to main top and mid you will learn absolutely nothing about how to play them from adding in a jungle or support game here and there.

You dont need to know how to play a role you need to know how to play with and against a role. Which you learn by not playing that role. A striker in football wouldn't practice being a goalie to get a better understanding of football or learn how to get the ball in the net.

The absolutely most important thing if you want to efficiently climb is sadly dodging. Team toxic in champ select? Dodge. A Yasuo or Riven OTP didnt get their champ? Dodge. All lanes are losing match ups? Dodge. Last but most importantly if your jungler is autofilled you should always dodge.

The absolute top players you might watch on Twitch are just simply good at the game. You and me are not. That's why we gotta pick champions and roles that hide our many mistakes the best if we want to climb.
For example, I have 0 mechanics in every single aspect of the game, so I pick stuff like Garen, Sejuani and Skarner and avoid ADCs in soloq. Now I don't know what you're better or worse at but you probably have roles and champions you're better at than others as well. If you focus on those specific champs as well you can get an advantage over people who play all kinds of random shit.
Now at the same time it can be worthwhile to pick up other roles a bit to better understand how they play, but at our level that really doesn't matter and it's way more efficient to just stick to a couple champs.

I mean I would recommend one tricking your favourite champ/role and then when you get other roles you can try to pick from two or three max, so when you offrole you can try to just fill in what the team needs more and not try to carry as much
