Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here. Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk. |

They'll probably make one, but it is just fluff that calls the app to install the game. I used some custom tools to generate the listfile diffs, but installing the game is easy. Just go to your Battle.net app's directory. Hold down SHIFT and right-click in an empty space in the directory and go to "Open command window here". In the command prompt, type "battle.net.exe --game= s2_beta --install" without quotes. The SC2 LotV installer will launch as if you had access (obviously you still don't, it just installs the game). Not works for me, it shows an error that B.net app is maybe outdated but I have the latest one
edit: changed sc2_beta to s2_beta and it worked. ty

Lol, it is playable too. Drag and drop a map file onto SC2Switcher.exe or SC2Switcher_64.exe (in Support/Support64 folder of install).
It treats it like you launched the game via the 'Test Map' command of the SC2 Editor and will launch a single-player game.

Campaign maps aren't valid probably. Also, you need to use a map that has hardcoded AI or removed win conditions otherwise you will instantly win. I just downloaded Cloud Kingdom LE and forced Player 2 to be a Computer, testing if that works.
Edit: No dice, it is playable, but because the map I used was Heart of the Swarm, it was just your standard Cloud Kingdom LE game. Going to do some hex editing to the map to remove/replace Heart of the Swarm dependencies as needed.

If it does work, get us some stats on the Adept, please. :D

Yeah, its in the LotV engine (I have the outlines of probes behind buildings, there is a ping section in the ctrl-alt-F stats panel) but you cant use the LotV dependancies yet. I wonder if someone leaked one of the map files from the beta if you could load it offline like that.

It's kinda annoying it's going to be mandatory on tournament streams but I guess we'll get used to it.

Eh, probably don't need to wait that long. I loaded an SC2 map in the Heroes engine by changing dependencies with a hex editor - this shouldn't be too different.

Okay so, progress. It is loading the tooltips as if they were from LotV - when I mouseover Twilight Council after my changes, it says "Contains upgrades for Zealots, Stalkers, and Adepts." Before changes it just says "Contains upgrades for Zealots and Stalkers."
Now for it to actually load the gamedata xmls properly.

Stucked at Initializing, and the LotV folder changes size from 5Gb to 6.3gb

Edit: Oh, it still downloads huge files at background even when bar shows "initializing"
