Any stats on how many people report others on principle, and how many because they want to fuck the guy? The point of Ansbiled's post is that history of reporting proves that receiving reports is easy and doesn't require anyone to be hurt. zzz just read teut's post.
No hard stats, but I reviewed at least a few hundred tribunal cases back in the day and never saw anyone come up who'd been reported needlessly. Except in a few cases of mild irritation, someone was always hurt.
I'm aware that there have been cases where the system has failed, and that's unfortunate, but they are rare. It takes a persistent, concerted effort to get somebody innocent into trouble. Ultimately I think you're all either up in arms needlessly, or have a far greater negative impact on your games than you suspect.

Everything about that reads like a repeat offender. IDK why people are freaking out like that guy was banned on first offense.

This league autoban shit is pretty funny
-See guy in promos -Feed really hard and throw in a few "where are my ganks" and "wow no mia" -Guy rages -Report him and try to get your team to report him too -"Someone you reported has been banned, thanks for making LoL a better place" -Repeat since you don't get banned for feeding
This measure won't stop toxic people, toxic people will find ways around it. It just stops the baddies that get mad over a video game every once in a while, not the chronic offenders.

"Once in a while" is still probably not often enough to trigger a ban.

That's the real problem isn't it. We have no idea what the line is.

Boy is this filled with some irony right here.

"Once in a while" is still probably not often enough to trigger a ban. That's the real problem isn't it. We have no idea what the line is. The initial system had a pretty simply line. Stuff like "fag", "kill yourself", the n-word and other very offensive terms would get you banned. Pretty simple and straightforward. More "mild" language like "fucking retard" or "gg noobs" didn't do anything, at least in the autodetection.
The new (current) system seems to be different, with all the chat logs we've been seeing. Presumably the old offensive terms are immediate ban, but new terms like "gg easy" as Lyte said ("'gg easy' is considered a very negative phrase by the system today") might be weighed the same as something that's actually offensive, which feels very problematic to me.
The question isn't really about false positives, it's what the threshold is. If I say "fuck this nunu", will I get banned? "Bg"? "Get good kid"? "ff20"? "I'm done"? "This warwick was boosted"? The list goes on. That one game with the log had "bg too ez" might indicate that too ez is a trigger? Who knows? All this does is promote the "mute everyone" mentality which is unhealthy for the game.

Not really, I'd imagine that the people who know they are susceptible to raging will just mute everyone and never chat, especially when it's not clear what will get you banned. I actually know quite a few people that just mute people from the moment the game loads because they get really mad when they are blamed for whatever and have gotten chat restricted in the past. You could argue that these people not talking and responding is good for the game, but then they miss out on the stuff like "ult in 15", "ward here" and other important things that the team mentions. Personally I prefer the communication, even with the shittalking mixed in.

Personally I prefer the communication, even with the shittalking mixed in. interesting cause I have the opposite experience. for me muting everyone at the start of the game was because the chat was just not worth looking at in most of the games and avoid wasting my time listening to ragers affecting my play (ex. feeding top constantly tells me to gank top or he afk's. I know I shouldn't but I naturally feel pressure to gank top because he demands it). the only time I did something like that was in korea because the chatting there was utterly a cesspool. I found it much less distracting to just play with players muted and keeping english settings so that the korean text would come up as boxes. I actually climbed faster with chat off and playing was a lot more pleasant. I didn't feel like I was missing out on much. I don't do that in NA because the chat isn't nearly as bad as it was in KR, but I don't think theres much important information in chat in a normal game of soloqueue anyways. Pings are more than enough and I'm not very talkative in games anyways. If you look at my chatlogs I probably have like 1-2 lines typed in a game on average. Some games I don't say a word and just communicate through pings. Tbh. I'd be okay with this automated system if it was implemented in every single server. Cuz I know for a fact half of kr would get banned. Lol.

I have to admit I once got a chat restriction. My strength in the game is map awareness and knowing where to attack/pull back and which objectives to take. The downside is that when poeple repeatedly get caught despite me warning them enough before or fail to achieve something which was safe to take then I sometimes I have to point it out. People *hate* when you point out their mistakes especially if you told them beforehand. I had to tone that part down significantly because it doesn't work out very well anyways.
I still make the calls but I try to not make comments after they don't follow it. In a real world scenario poeple tend to listen to the guys who make correct calls from my experience, allthough they are exceptions but In my proffession it is very common and detrimental to criticise the ideas of others, take criticism well and follow up on the right call, so it is hard for me to adapt to the mentality of the LoL community.

I would argue that only self righteous people use Tribunal (+ those who just voted "yes" on every case without reading to earn free ip) and thus their standards for what's "toxic" might be lower than for average player.

I don't really care about chat restrictions so I sometimes play with chat on at the risk of getting in a flame fight and getting reported just so I can read timers and calls, but now with the new system I'll probably play entirely without chat to avoid risking a ban.
