Well I dunno maybe it just me but there is no difference between someone implying i am a retard and calling me a retard. There is a filter and a mute button for the people who do care though. The only people that I think should be banned are who intentionally ruin games.
Also I am very surprised you guys have never heard unlucky before playing with me last few weeks lol.
Oh also we are gonna go back to s2 of getting called a nobody/random all the time lol.

Oh, we noticed before, just in the last few weeks you've said it a lot more than usual. I personally think that saying gj after a bad play is a lot better than are you fucking retarded you utter moron.

The difference is in the context of soloq they won't say the first one just because they know they will get banned so it is the same.
On the bright side there should be more creative insults that avoid the use of cancer.
Saying "you are a fucking retard" or "wow what a great player )))))))" after someone does something stupid are both used to show the guy you think he is shit are they not?

On the bright side there should be more creative insults that avoid the use of cancer. Saying "you are a fucking retard" or "wow what a great player )))))))" after someone does something stupid are both used to show the guy you think he is shit are they not? They most certainly do. Not in one, long sentence (though I've seen that as well, it was rather scary), but the end result is the same. Fucking mothers, mothers being whores, cancers, deaths are not rare sightings at all. So the very first question is whether you agree with them being punished, or not, and if not, why not.
The type of player who would say "wow what a great player )))))))" is the one who keeps behaving like that all game long, so there's a big difference between typing out retarded once in a game, and continually keep harassing others, even if they try to be smart and avoid bad words. They should be reported, and the reports should result in a severe punishment, whether it's a result of an automated system or personal overview.
Even if right now Riot's system is weak against these players, it should not stop them battling toxicity. They have to start somewhere, and rooting out the most toxic players who don't even have the self control of being a piece of shit without using extremely offensive words or terms, is a good and safe start.
Edit: oh, and somewhat related: www.reddit.com
It's the funniest post I've seen in rlol, but what I want to mention now is that it reminded me how I got chat restricted because of Vaynes! I couldn't take their shittyness, and every single game where there was a Vayne, I kept harassing them. I remained within the range of "retarded" being my strongest curse word, but it did not take long to be smited. So even while the new system is in development, you can be still punished for less offensive stuff than what the automated system is hunting for.

The argument that conversation A isn't offensive because conversation B is more offensive is pretty dumb. They're both offensive. If somebody calls somebody else a fag, they need to be punished for that, almost regardless of context. Even TL does that and TL is an environment that is basically designed for having frank discussions. I'm not sure how somebody can have the standpoint of "gasp, I can't call strangers faggots anymore?!?!" Like, come on, grow up. should just call people phages ketara is a fucking frozen mallet also with regards to the street basketball comment ima be as racist to everyone as possible and say its filled with a lot of high testosterone black men instead of a bunch of pussies and manchilds who still run to mommy when someone calls them names
Shut up you Zeke's Herald.

Didn't they train their machine learning algorithm based on the old Tribunal? Doesn't that suggest that it's basically just punishing people based on what the community thinks is acceptable or unacceptable?
And if they overcorrected and we all have to be a little too polite ... is that the worst thing in the world?

Might not be the worst thing in the world, but it's not the best thing in the world either. And if you really don't get why that might affect your law abiding citizens:
1) Just like nafta said, A LOT of people will get banned if this comes through and the same criteria is applied to EUW. Enjoy your 2x longer queues, more games with huge mmr disparity and your duoq partner getting banned because he had a worse day.
2) If I understand this correctly, the system is good at targeting blatant rule breaking, but not so much the subtle jabs, ping spamming, small in-game annoyances (someone taking buff/cs just to annoy you) etc. So statistically you will encounter more of those instead of people who only vent on chat, where you can fucking mute them.
3) This is pure speculation but I'm really afraid that there will be a lot more trolls trying to bait you into breaking the rules one way or another. "Hurr durr just don't be toxic" - doesn't matter if I respond or not, that stuff reduces game quality much more than person calling you a fag before you mute him.
all the self-righteousnes is killing me :/

Last I remember, Tribunal only ever punished <2% of players. I find it hard to believe that the punish rate would ever be high enough to affect queue times or game quality to a noticeable extent.

And while not the worst thing in the world, I find it quite lame.

I think more than 20% of EU will get banned if the examples shown count as ban worthy.

I just find that really hard to believe given how low the actual numbers have always been for Tribunal relative to the player base.

because most players dont get mad at report people i think considering how much the average player flames it makes sense they dont report other people for doing the same its usually just the whiners who report
im not sure ive ever reported anyone maybe once or twice for afking or something

im not sure ive ever reported anyone maybe once or twice for afking or something The system is still only activated by reports, so if it generally follows the same ruling as the Tribunal did, I'm not sure how this should be vastly different.

Tribunal only created a case once a person reached certain number/percentage of reports, isn't the whole point of the bot to review every game someone gets reported?

Based on what Riot has said this bot is also meant to take into account how often someone gets reported - and that only in extreme cases would someone get banned off one game?
Poll: Have you ever been banned (perm or temp) on League? No (51) 93% Yes (4) 7% 55 total votes Your vote: Have you ever been banned (perm or temp) on League? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
Let's see how toxic you guys are :>

all the self-righteousnes is killing me :/ I kinda laughed at this one. Another way to look at it is less players, less server stress, less lag. Hurrah for EUW. o/

- I think you're vastly overestimating the impact of the bans. Even if you aren't, I'd rather be in a longer queue and play games with a higher MMR disparity than play with anyone who deserves a ban.
- This is akin to saying "statistically if you remove Clubs from a deck of cards you're more likely to draw the Queen Spades". It's true but misleading, as it completely ignores that you're also more likely to draw everything else.
- Why is that statement more damaging than a slur? Why can't you just mute the troll? If it really becomes a problem people will start getting reported and banned for it, so why be afraid?
Much ado about nothing really.

I voted no but I had ranked restrictions once Didn't choose the thugh life~
Guess my 3rd point kinda overlaps with 2nd because I mean not only chat baiting but also in-game action baiting. Don't have time to list examples will do so in the evening if this cancer talk continues.
