Isn't it more for her e? Her mid-lategame is basically walk around being tanky and e'ing people as often as she can, so you want 40% cdr ASAP Correct, she's a lot weaker without the 15AP early and midgame, CDR isn't important until you get levels in E in.

I think for a fresh account getting high silver/low gold off placements is good. Cool. A couple of my irl friends play League a lot more consistently than I do, and they range from Bronze V - Silver IV. I was previously under the impression that Gold was fairly decent in terms of game skill, but in my (admittedly short) adventures in ranked I was consistently outperforming Gold-level players in a variety of match-ups. Keep in mind that gold and higher is the top, iirc, ~13% of the ladder. If gold is top 13%. How da fuq am I in gold ii? Cuz I'm god damn awful at this game. In the wise words of qtpie, no matter how bad you are, there are at least 20,000 people worse.

And no matter how good you are there is someone in every game who will be convinced you were boosted from bronze.
Edit: on that note, after like a 10 game winstreak I'm d5 again. Why do I always hit diamond the second it no longer matters? And if I climb to, say, d3 before s5 starts, could I still be put in diamond if I do well in placements?

IIRC the highest you can be placed after 5 placements is Plat I.

I think last season the highest you could be placed was in Plat. Even challenger players. I have the memory of a goldfish though so I might be wrong.

That is correct, plat1 was the highest. If your MMR is high enough you'll skip D4 and then D2 and get to D1 in 3 promotion series.

Oh well, might as well raise my mmr during preseason so I have a better chance of getting some lucky promos when s5 starts. I dunno if it's just coincidence but GP seems to be doing very well right now. Last 3 games I hardcarried, went 14 3, 16 6 and 14 2. Then I lost a game playing vlad against someone who picked gp and he hardcarried against me.

Last time I played against a Vlad was after I picked Shen. He'd probably have destroyed me if he played better, as is he just outfarmed me (I kept him pushed but whenever I died/ult'd/had to back he'd farm 2 waves instantly, and at least the next one before I came back) and I died when Yi showed up if I had taunt on cd or he had red. I was winning the trades until a taunt->passive->Q combo (and some hits while W held) didn't do enough damage anymore and he'd mostly heal it back up before taunt was off cd (and I had the energy) again, he started cloth+5 and bought NMM after noticing most of my damage is actually magic and no spellvamp so I assume he should have started bodying me much earlier. He wasn't bodying me so much as rylai made it impossible to stick to him past the taunt and I'd lose a dps race (having to build sunfire to keep the pushing up didn't help).
Not sure which offensive item I should build on Shen in that case. Or just straight-up warmogs and play it out like an attrition wr? It works on stuff with limited sustain like Renekton but I don't believe it'd work on Vlad, though. BotRK I guess as Triforce is manlier but harder to justify? Wit's just isn't good enough anymore.
|
I think Shen vs. Vlad is a losing lane after level 9, I wouldn't build particularly against him and just try to get the other lanes going. Botrk would be my offensive item of choice though, it helps you keep up an advantage if your jungler gets you an early lead.
Edit: Assuming that your jungler keeps ganking top of course.
|
I didn't know either of botrk/tf/wits were even options on shen, but on the other hand I guess I haven't seen a shen in ages. I don't think there's a good reason to not play shen, his kit is pretty sweet still right? I mean they nerfed the taunt hitbox but not being faceroll isn't really a good reason to not play a strong champ.

Botrk is legit on shen, especially with zerkers :>
But for offensive item I'd say triforce most of the time, but I don't like offensive items on shen I'd rather just get tanky. Wits is okay, maybe if it's double AP but I've never felt particularly inclined towards it.
Vs vladimir I'd just forget about offensive item, you really can't do that much more other than to get tanky and roam unless the lane is absurdly one sided from jungle help (We're tallking OMG vs TSM 0/10 dyrus vlad levels of it. Even then iirc gogoing went tanky)

I'm curious about shen. I would like to pick up a full tank top with good utility like he has. I've tried trundle but his kit just feels soooo clunky.
|
I had a lot of fun with Rengar in the new patch. He actually gets quite a bit of love from the Engage Shockwave Item, but I'm pretty sure that's almost everyone.
|
The problem with shen is if you don't get sunfire you are useless. So you are locked into buying it first and then as a bonus he is useless in teamfights unless absurdly fed.

If you want a utility tank top maokai and malphite still exist. I don't think shen is bad but he's never been the greatest lomoQ champion and everyone has a TP so his global isn't as incredible as it used to be. Not that stand united doesn't have its own merits but it's not a big deal compared to season 3 where the renekton with brutalizer and ignite didn't have much recourse if you turned around a fight at bot lane

I don't find Trundle's kit clunky, but he doesn't do that much versus a team full of mobility and burst/assassins. He thrives off of an enemy frontliner, and a team that his pillar will be able to split (a poke comp will want to disengage "as one", compared to a team with a Zed and a Caitlyn where obviously one will go more ham than the other, opening an opportunity to isolate him from his team).
If you can force enemy mobility the pillar is pretty good because even if you don't have the reflexes to cockblock a jump with it the obstruction+slow is enough to catch back up and stick with Q-spam. If you can't, well, the pillar should force it, and hopefully then you can prevent the enemy carry from going back in the fight since he won't have anything to jump back over the pillar. Also Trundle definitely doesn't pass the Gnar test at all if you try to lane him.
Shen did feel clunky, but moreso because it can be hard to make sure to have both passive and Q ready to initiate a trade, without getting pushed in (since you can't decide not to use your passive), and because his energy costs don't really go away: other champions see both their costs go down and their "sustain" mechanic go up ('cept Lee but his is always available), but Shen only gets a meager boon from his passive at levels 7 and 13. At later levels where trades last longer and you can't just fall back and wait to regen energy it you really feel his limitations, let alone teamfights. (Being against mostly ranged champions and a Yi that game, I couldn't auto much to reduce the cd on the passive since Shen doesn't "stick" well, it's probably easier in other situations.)
And yeah you usually don't build an offensive item until you've completed at least 2 major defensive items, since damage is just not your goal. But with a triforce or BotRK Shen's actually a very strong duelist against champions that don't rely on kiting him (so most ranged champions sadly) because he's so hard to kill, and spellblade or BotRK's passive give you non-scaling-reliant damage to complement your kit (since Shen's offensive scaling is pretty bad and mostly reliant on AS, while his base AD is good, and AS decent). But normally you don't need to be able to kill your opponent or force him to retreat, just to keep him busy while you splitpush then ult to your team, so it's not a priority.
Also the current popularity of teleport works against him since there's always someone who can go in lane and still join their ult when you ult.

Watching qtpie stream both bot lanes start by doing jungle camp.Lol.The camps need to give less xp if you don't have machete dunno what is so hard about this so it is implemented.
|
Didn't rito say they were gonna make the camps spawn later to prevent this stuff?
edit: christ I wish they'd remove the shield from the tier2... At least get rid of the visual element, it's really annoying.

what you guys think about mejais 5 stacks? i think its ridiculously broken. at least for soloqueue. i main lux and used to rush it after grail (or even before if the situation appears) and now with 5 stacks its even better. so strong on lux *-*
