Updated TL LoL policy in regards to the use of "lomo"

In regards to theorycrafting and hyperbole, please have firsthand experience of the scenario before giving your input

Pretty sure Jayce does super well vs Ryze and Lulu should also do pretty well, but they aren't the most common toplaners.

You. You are a bad person
Aatrox has a decent time against ryze with his all-in strength and ability to sustain through early harass. Also passive makes for great tower dives if possible

Yorick is a far cry from where he used to be. He's not the lovable lane bully that we all know back in season three, and shouldn't really be considered unless your adc is the only good person playing on your team. Even then you should probably just go Shen in that case.
Hey! How you doin'?

Just played with this Kennen who built Lich Bane and Triforce and did no damage in teamfights and wondered why... I am so glad Kennen is no longer a meta champion. This guy i used to play with then vouched for Gunblade Lucian

Fk I am getting so bad at this game, I should start joining inhouses again. Getting dangerously close to dropping out of Plat. FML.

My decisionmaking needs to become better, and my mechanics are rusty. Time to practice.

You'd need your Elo to drop to Silver-level to drop out of Plat, that's a big leap.
I tried hard and won 5 in a row to climb back to Gold I after a nth loss streak, then 4 straight games with a ragequit, a dc from the start, a botlane feeding 12+ kills under 9 minutes and another one something a bit more tame and I'm demoted right away.
(Edit: make it 5 games, there's a dc again but I'm already demoted tho.)

If it's going to be a yoyo depending on streaks and sheer luck (a jungler can't do much when laners die at level 1), it's not going to give much incentive to actually try when you feel so out of control (of course it's anecdotal short term evidence, but it's still pretty demotivating).

Depends on a lot of factors not just average skill of people in the game.

Well I'm kinda floating between promos and 0 LP Gold I. Thing is I don't think the concept of promo series makes for a good experience because of how streaky it is.

Technically it works, since assuming you're within your promos (say 80+ LP when you get +25 per win for example) you have to win one to get in promos, and then it's a BoX. The "best" you can do while failing is 1-2 or 2-3, which is a win ratio of 50% once you factor in the win you needed to get there.
So to get a promotion you need a win ratio strictly higher than 50%, which is totally reasonable.

However, because it's "needed" on such a small sample size, it increases the meaning of a small sample of games, leading to higher variance. I've had games where I was on tilt, like when I lost the all but won final game of a series due to intentional griefing and dropped straight to 0 LP after 10 other losses, but because I managed to climb back to promos twice after that the significance isn't that high.
However, here I lost 4 in a row, all outside of my control (not necessarily in an absolute sense; but I'm at this Elo because I can win 5v5s, not because I can win 4v5s or even 3v5s), and it was enough to demote me straight away. It went like this:
- demotion (last 3 games were all plagued with griefers, a single ragequit, and flaming)
- lucky streak, 6 wins in a row (promoted back after the 5th, one game had griefer on our team)
- unlucky streak (the 4 losses I just talked about), demoted right away

These 13 games were weighted very heavily because they decided my demotions and promotion, in a yoyo motion. But because every single one weights so much, it makes the experience that much worse when you can basically tell yourself "this is an important game and that guy who just died 4 times before I could even come to his lane and is busy flaming each other with two other teammates is making the outcome pretty miserable" (and on the contrary, when you get a griefer-less game you don't feel particularly happy to counterbalance it—because that'd be expected to be the norm).

TL;DR: You'll answer to all of that by "why do you care about your placement and not just how well you play and improve?", but that's the point (aside from flaming-filled games and 4v5s not being exactly fun nor conducive to measuring one's skill): if the system requires you to ignore the way it functions in order not to feel miserable more often that not, doesn't that mean that it's a bad system?

its not about measuring your dick its about fine tuning your performance with it alaric
if you only care about winning or losing you won't have fun except in the games you win, if you care only about improving you enjoy every game

flaming filled games are just more entertaining versions. if you drop the ego and have nothing to prove you won't feel defensive so you can just enjoy it

That's why I said "aside from the fact that playing 4v5s (when it's a dc) or 2-3v5s (depending on the number too busy flaming to play) isn't exactly fun and doesn't give me too much room to improve".

I don't necessarily mind the flaming itself (apart from how it makes me scroll more to find my timers; I just ask people to play if they sound recoverable and shrug them off otherwise), but people busy flaming don't play nor react to others/their calls.
...
Which strays from my initial point which was that if the tier/division system requires you to willingly ignore the way it works, then it's probably not fulfilling its role too well (because otherwise you're exposed to anecdotal games with a much heavier weight for arbitrary reasons).

playing 4v5s is perfectly fine for the whole laning phase of the game and is good practice to deal with roaming. There are tones of situations where you have members who are either useless or otherwise elsewhere on the map and you are 4v5 temporarily, learing to play in those situations while taking advantage of any opportunities is a perfectly good exercise

people reacting to calls or making calls is irrelevant to improving, you judge the situation and react accordingly, it prepares you for all sorts of situations, even if the call would be optimal its not always going to be the case, its good practice
