Do you guys still start shield or do you start something else? Are we going to see less of Mundo, Shyvanna and Renekton and more of anybody else? I think with the shield change we might see more champions up top lane who have mana pools instead of seeing manaless champions all the time. I also think someone in this thread here said that the shield change was going to buff the Lane bullies and nerf the champions who have slow start up times before they become powerful. I know it's a little early to tell but I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts about this subject.

Basically the closer you are to the feared target the faster they will run from you, starting at about a 17% slow when up close and strengthening to a really strong slow (at least 65%) when they're far. So if you run with your target they will run farther, if you run away from your target they won't run nearly as far. With Fiddle's fear this change takes place over a much longer distance than Nocturne's, the distance is similar to the range of their fears. IDK, while with Fid this might be a bit of a wash (since he has a long range fear and could feasibly flank with it in a gank or send someone into a turret) I think overall this nerfs nocturne, especially since ult places you on the near side of your target. I remember when nocturne fear RNGed an opponent to continue retreated his ganks felt a lot weaker and this almost guarantees that.

It makes Renekton even stronger because Jax, or Nasus would get trucked even harder in the earlygame.

I don't consider myself "League-Smart" so that's why I figured I'd ask the people on the forum who know considerably more than I do. The reason why I think that we might possibly see more mana based champions top lane is for the reason that damage should stick to the enemy champion more easily now. So instead of trying to spend mana trying to bully someone out of lane and then just merely running oom, I thought there might be the possibility now that it might be easier to force people out of lane while not running out of mana as the Doran's Shield became weaker. Just my thoughts.

Just my thoughts. odds are you know just as much as most of us, you just have the courtesy to note your own uncertainty by asking questions rather than asserting everything with regards to the dorans shield nerf, i'm most interested to see what the impact on starting item diversity will be, which of course will change champion viability. the cloth+pots start that was edged out by shield is probably worth considering now, and champions with strong early games who previously defaulted to shield could start blade. a change this big will definitely take a few weeks to be fully worked through, though, so these are tentative thoughts actually, one thing i am fairly confident in saying is that mundo is no more

I understand what they trying to do by removing the RNG but it's just a straight nerf to these heroes for no real reason.

It's pretty good for teemo top but since shrooms were nerfed to the ground I'm not sure if that matters... Kennen might make a comeback though.
