Some Warriors can jungle - most notably Tyr, but Wukong and Herc are good picks too.
I've seen Athena jungle a handful of times. Her early clear is pretty low (though you generally get help til halfway to level 2), but her ganks are really good.

Ares is very good at all levels of play. Sure, his ult is countered by beads, but 1. beads isn't always up and 2. not everyone will have beads.

I guess they're not doing a God reveal video for her? Usually it would be up by now. Also, the new Fenrir skin is like, the best thing.

Smite Repo is an interesting tool. It takes aggregate builds from live servers and puts up the info, so you get a look at what's popular. Since it's average, it can be hit-or-miss, but overall it's fine. What gods were you thinking about? I can give you some pointers.

There are a few ways to build Guardian types, depending on how you want to play and how you're doing in lane. Almost always, you'll want Hand of the Gods as one of your actives (lets you help push the lane and secure jungle), and you can get Eye of Providence for free wards (like Sightstone, it pays itself off over time) to be standard. You can trade Eye out for one of the other Actives that you think you might need (Aegis or Beads if you want to dodge enemy abilities, Girdle if you want to buff your allies, etc). Generally you can start with two rank 1 Actives and one item. Mark of the Vanguard is good for early tankiness (though like a Doran's item, you'll end up selling it), while Watcher's Gift gives some lane sustain and extra income, but can leave you a bit more squishy. There are two real schools of thought when it comes to Sobek or Bacchus (or Ymir/Athena, for that matter). Build tanky because you have CC and can be credit to team, or build damage because even tanks have pretty decent ratios and damage in Smite. Your Boots pick will reflect this, you can go Shoes for damage (MPen is better than CDR on nearly every god), Boots for utility (if you can get Midas early, lots of gold nom nom), or Greaves for tankiness (either are good imo). Void Stone is a good item for either build, but if you want to go more tanky, Bulwark is your big choice. You can get Wall of Absolution for Physical Protection and Magic damage, but Sovereignty and Breastplate of Valor are stronger straight PhysProt options. If you're going more damage, Pen Boots + Void Stone into a straight magic item like Polynomicon or Rod of Tahuti is a solid way to go. If you want more defensiveness, choice boots into Void Stone/Sovereignty and then something like Mystical Mark or Hide of the Leviathan works well. Sorry for rambling, but basically: you can go pew pew and rely on natural defenses or tanky and just be unkillable. Either is relatively competitive. Sovereignty is overall a good item, Void and Bulwark are the only real MagProt choices, you'll generally want health after getting one. Regen items suck 99% of the time.

Do you usually start the game with actives or is it something you pick up later in the game? I've been neglecting to buy actives 'til much later.

You should go through past broadcast of smitepro and find out the gods you like, then learn from those games. Hunters(adc) don't usually need active first. Guardians, solo laner, junglers usually get hands of the god first to clear buffs.

With it, you can get buffs and secure Fire Giant/Gold Fury. Solo laners and Guardians get it to push hard. Even if you have good clear, it's instant wave push once you learn to position it right. As for Mages/Hunters, it depends. You'll almost always have either one of Aegis or Beads, and sometimes both. Sprint is really nice if you can swing it, but since it's not necessary and Beads/Aegis are amazing, you rarely get it. Which Aegis upgrade you get is up to you and the situation you're in. Certain laners will get Teleport, in fact it's almost necessary in some side solo lanes, so you see a lot of HoG/Tele. Mid can get it if you're going back a lot, but some mids only go back once or twice and then can sit in lane and clear without worry (such as Ao). Certain gods like Blink. Ymir gets it for amazing Blink -> Stun -> Ult combos. Ares can grab it to Ult initiate. Tyr gets it for fancy Blink behind -> Offensive 1/2 into your team kills. In certain Situations your team will want Creeping Curse for one of its upgrades. Enfeebling Curse can shut down people like Bakasura, Freya, or many Hunters - while Weakening Curse is highly useful for Hel, Ra, and (less so) Chang'e. If it's necessary, the Jungle or solo laner can grab it, or the Guardian can trade Eye for it. Shard is pretty bad. Girdle is situational, you need to be an all-kill team and rather ahead for it to be super useful. Meditate is only fringe-useful. Picking it up at level 1 will out you as a noob, the only goddess it's even particularly useful on Aphro, on everyone else but her, leave it.
