my motivation cut by half as I discover my League name is taken T-T
so wha'ts the difference between normal, quick, and instant casting?
normal is dumbcasting - "click button, click where to target"
idk what the others are, some variation of smart casting and casting with indicators? I've only used normal.

At 3rd tier of blink you can purchase a combat blink with a much longer cooldown.
Smitefire is bad.
For learning builds, I kinda stuck to some combination of recommended/popular items. Once you start to figure out what items do and what you like, then you can deviate.
Meditation is almost always bad on Conquest. Every other active is fairly good in different ways.

Jesus is actually in the game. He's an easter egg NPC, was located in the crowd on the Joust map. They recently moved him, but I don't know where he is now.

lol ive been using meditation every game... damn recommended items. purification beads seems stronger than cleanse and grants escapes for the squishy characters im enjoying.. but maybe hard for me to remember in the heat of battle while im new.

Did you play WoW? I found that binding Beads to my WoW Trinket hotkey fixed the "forgot about actives" problem instantly.

I did not play wow at all. I'm having enough trouble teaching my hands to press 1-4 while moving as it is.

Meditation isn't necessarily bad, it's just more of a crutch for players who can't manage mana. Since you can't sell actives, and it's horrible later on, it's never recommended to buy it, but it actually is a powerful laning tool, especially for people who have innate health sustain but go through mana fast. Once you get into teamfighting/pushing, you're going to wish you had 2 slots for other actives, though.
For new players, it's not horrible, but it will point you out as a new player to anyone looking.
|
I think some items are just powerhouses, some others are given in certain roles, so your choosable item-pool is 3-4 + actives (which depend on opposition mostly). At least for brawler kind of gods.
|
Hah, yeah, you'll soon learn the art of activating abilities (especially 2) while strafing.
Beads is great. Aegis is really good, especially the new tier they added (lets you move while immune to damage, but still susceptible to CC - basically kayle ult). Sprint is very good on ADCs.
You'll get used to using the actives in fights - they're your summoner spells, except you get to choose mid game based on how things are going.

The teamheal upgrade of meditation can be nice for a supporty god though.

Salvation is great for Assault

If you have mana problem, just get some mana potion. And if you don't want to get mana potion, I think even Teleport to Tower actiive is better than Mediation, it takes a little time, sure, but you get to heal hp and mana and buy stuff too.

On December 11 2013 01:24 Duvon wrote: The teamheal upgrade of meditation can be nice for a supporty god though. In theory, sure. However, it's really not a big enough restore and on too long of a cooldown to be worth the investment most of the time. I mean, Hel's Light Stance 3 can basically heal the same amount on a fraction of the CD. And to buy it you give up Beads, Aegis, Sprint, etc. Mana regen and even heals (especially a huge CD one like Meditate) lose their value as the game goes on. As a support, I'd rather have HoG to help push, Eye for free wards, or Beads/Aegis for myself. If you really want a supporty active, Girdle is amazing to skyrocket your team's damage.

as a side note wukong is really fucking fun in this game

if by "fun" you mean "stupid as all hell" then yes, I agree

Given this discussion, I'll probably do a quick write up of popular/good/bad items per role at some point, unless someone else wants to pitch in.
It's actually rather varied, especially compared to something like League. I often only have 1 or 2 core items per character (aside from boots, obv) and the rest are situational, but there are some items that are better than others.

I can help put my $.02 in probably. I'm still figuring stuff out as well, but I'm trying to catch pro games when I can to get insight on item builds.

It'd be funny if I set up a website for Smite info and it actually got big. Too bad I'm way too lazy.
