The thing is that people attribute "bad" things that happen to them wrongly.
Like, if somebody says "all the traffic lights are always red when I really need to go somewhere" you can be 98% sure that that's not actually the case, it's just that he only remembers those parts because the brain generally remembers things that annoy or stress you far better than it remembers things going smoothly.
You get a feeder in a normal game? whatever it's a normal game You get a feeder in your promotions? OH MY GOD THE UNIVERSE IS OUT TO GET ME THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME
This thinking that cosmic forces align against you just to fuck you over is a very classical case of human egocentricity

The only reason the promo series is a "waste of time" is if you were just going to stop playing League for the rest of the season once you get your promotion. Otherwise, a game is a game, and there's no difference between getting your promotion now or later.
There's nothing that distinguishes a failed promo series from any other game unless it was going to be your last game of League until the end of the season.
Exactly. Even if you keep failing promo series you'll actually be playing in the mmr above that division/league anyone so it's all just graphical.

And if you're winning games in the MMR of the league above you, you will promote anyway eventually. If you're not, then you didn't deserve to promote.
The real problem with the system is that it puts a lot of people into that promotion cusp when they realistically need to improve quite a bit (or get insanely lucky, which is sometimes the case) to actually be good enough to promote--but because they're getting promotion matches they think they are good enough. It's somewhat deceptive because of how the system works.

Yeah, but if i am playing at that MMR, i'd really also like to get the shinies related to that MMR, because i kinda deserve them. Of course this could be solved by just NOT having that shitty league system and instead having a good system that doesn't obscure your MMR with a useless frontend, which would solve all those problems, but we don't have that.

Yes, this is cognitive bias to account for. I have asked twice if people actually check if there are any people in promotion series. If they don't its 99% they look you up and see if you are just so they can make you mad after they are already raging about something.

If you deserve them you would have them. Maybe the luck that got you a promotion series you tried for ages was counterbalanced by the bad luck of getting a feeder, intentional or not, on your team, who you aren't good enough to carry because your performance is only a variance around your mmr and not a few hundred points higher.

Also since you naturally have streaks it's entirely possible you get promoted on a winstreak then get demoted on a loss streak. People then get angry when in fact nothing has actually changed for them and it's just the normal variance in the game. This system is just very ambiguous which leads to people getting needlessly upset

A lot of people tell their team that they are in a promotion series.

intentionally losing any game is being a jerk, the fact that its a promotion series doesn't make it that much worse, certainly slightly worse, but its just people liken it to rolling the stone up the hill and some guy tripping you at the top. I guess the core issue is why people feel like that and mostly its to due with playing games to win without trying to improve specifically.
Skimming through, I didn't see if this was answered.
summoning.net shows if someone in the game is in a promo series

which is a bad idea if you really think griefers are out there
anyway, if people are looking up and targetting people on promotion series, (lol) they would get banned very quickly, as opposed to just regular raging and people trying to make other people angry using anything they can find

The thing is that dickheads are dickheads no matter what.
Even if somebody says they're only trolling to lose somebody the promos, they would have probably done it anyways, because they are dickheads.
And that has nothing to do with you.

pff you complain about griefers? try playing on EUNE with PL in your tag, then we can talk But I have to admit going 8-0 in 10 minutes after all those "oh no PL in our team gg" or better, opponent saying "PL mid free win easy" is very satisfying

If you tag yourself with PL, you're asking for it.

Zac support. He only needs to hard engange with slingshot ult and can then die since he won't do anything else in a fight anyways if build pure tank, except slow people and do minimal aoe? His build is not so much worse than jungle I figured, where he would have Ancient Golem, boots and maybe aegis. As support he would have Sightstone, boots and maybe a Kindlegem?
Why not aatrox. long distance slow, knockup, and then you can use passive on ganks for tower diving fun. Probably just as bad but could be funny Yeah, it's like Alistar support all on 1 button and a passive. OP.

I had someone "grief" in my promo series last night. Except, it was on the other team. Corki ragequit after he died twice at level 1. The rest of the team just stood in fountain and let us take the nexus for free. Easiest ranked win of my life.

lol when I started my account I didn't know how toxic this community is, most of my friends are Poles and none of them trolls/rages etc so I didn't expect so much rage

So what's with this rumored mysterious EU superteam consisting of Froggen/Edward/Shook/Freeze and an unknown Toplaner? I'm really curious and excited what's happening in the offseason. People are speculating that it might be a LoL branch for Alliance.

It's honestly no different than most other games. It's just that the community is so massive and you get exposed to 9 other players at a time, so just by virtue of numbers you see a decent number of people with negative attitudes.
They just stand out to you though (confirmation bias, as we were talking about it yesterday). Percentage-wise, I don't think it's as high as people make it seem.

the best or worst depending on how you look at it is when people spam things like 'ez' when they win a 5v4 ;p.
