Apparently the "unknown toplaner" is TCM Jwaow.
People are doing summoner keybindings/champ pool/login time analysis of the smurf accounts, so I'm inclined to believe that this is true. (i.e. flash on D or F, champs played, whether the smurf's games and the main account's games are mutually exclusive times)

Yeah, well, too bad for you guys, I want not to win! ... is that what they expect? It makes me grin every time it happens because they repeat it like a mantra, as if it was going to make people play better, or try harder just because someone of the team told them he'd want to win ('cause they obviously wouldn't too otherwise).
And in the end it's just a bait for everyone looking to troll somebody instead. x)

ive met people who really do want to lose. i had a nidalee who tried to surrender when we were up over 10 kills and winning every fight because she/he personally only had a 1:1 score. so ye, go figure.

Point is: do you think telling him "plz its the last game of my promo i want to win" will make him change?

Like, if somebody says "all the traffic lights are always red when I really need to go somewhere" you can be 98% sure that that's not actually the case, it's just that he only remembers those parts because the brain generally remembers things that annoy or stress you far better than it remembers things going smoothly.
You get a feeder in a normal game? whatever it's a normal game You get a feeder in your promotions? OH MY GOD THE UNIVERSE IS OUT TO GET ME THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME
This thinking that cosmic forces align against you just to fuck you over is a very classical case of human egocentricity Yes, this is cognitive bias to account for. I have asked twice if people actually check if there are any people in promotion series. If they don't its 99% they look you up and see if you are just so they can make you mad after they are already raging about something. The only reason the promo series is a "waste of time" is if you were just going to stop playing League for the rest of the season once you get your promotion. Otherwise, a game is a game, and there's no difference between getting your promotion now or later.
There's nothing that distinguishes a failed promo series from any other game unless it was going to be your last game of League until the end of the season. Exactly. Even if you keep failing promo series you'll actually be playing in the mmr above that division/league anyone so it's all just graphical. Yeah, but if i am playing at that MMR, i'd really also like to get the shinies related to that MMR, because i kinda deserve them. Of course this could be solved by just NOT having that shitty league system and instead having a good system that doesn't obscure your MMR with a useless frontend, which would solve all those problems, but we don't have that. If you deserve them you would have them. Maybe the luck that got you a promotion series you tried for ages was counterbalanced by the bad luck of getting a feeder, intentional or not, on your team, who you aren't good enough to carry because your performance is only a variance around your mmr and not a few hundred points higher.
I don't see how "if you deserve them you would have them" matches up with the idea that you shouldn't care about promotion series more than any other match because you can judge your own play. As Teut said, one's own judgement of one's play is likely biased and incomplete, and if it's true that "if you deserve them you would have them", then getting promoted can serve as objective evidence of improvement, which is a reason to care about them.
I also want to point out that while there may be no difference between being promoted now and a week from now, there is a difference between being promoted now and a month from now, if you care about end of season rewards.

well i didnt need to because 4 people said no to the surrender and we were winning the fights anyway ;p

If people threaten to AFK, I generally respond with something like "ok, go ahead, really don't care". Trolls do it for the attention and to get a reaction. If you completely cut that out, they generally just play the game.

It's honestly no different than most other games. It's just that the community is so massive and you get exposed to 9 other players at a time, so just by virtue of numbers you see a decent number of people with negative attitudes. They just stand out to you though (confirmation bias, as we were talking about it yesterday). Percentage-wise, I don't think it's as high as people make it seem. don't know about other games, I only played SC and PES/NBA2K online before so I can only compare to those games. I know what cognitive bias is ("Science of Discworld" OP but I don't think it's the case.Maybe it's EUNE-specific but almost every single time I missplay the amount of rage is overwhelming, and most of it includes some mention of me being PL. I'm almost 30 now and have worked in a call center so it doesn't bother me that much personally, it's just pissing me off that they waste my time, because usually when shitstorm starts whole team loses focus and it usually ends badly

Or people can focus on being a better player rather than winning games in the short term and banking on fat variance tails to pull them up.
If you super care about end of season rewards I hear tobi takes $50 per division.

Caveat: calling the bluff sometimes backfires lol You have to know whether they're trying to troll you or they're legit raging their minds out. They require opposite approaches if you want them to not AFK. Of course, muting them generally works in all cases

Tho ofc 1 player less is nothing compared to the LoL population every little bit helps.

your own self judgement being biased is only based on the "blame my teammates" mentality. Once you drop that mentality, it shouldn't be necessary. However getting promoted 1 division doesn't mean much, if you go from gold to plat you can say you improved, but ultimately if you keep finding mistakes in your own game you know you can improve.

It also takes the shitgamer 100+ games to rank up one division.

The thing is that's ass-backwards. "I'm so mad that this griefer didn't let me validate how good I am at this game for being unable to carry him!" You see how ridiculous that sounds?

If you played for a month straight and still didn't get promoted, then you probably weren't good enough at the start of that month to get promoted, assuming you improved over that many games like a normal human being does.
