it's not so much gapclosers on to him as much as if your opponent has good spacing it's easy to skirt Morde's movements. to be specific to howling abyss, you can open Revolver on that map and just shove all day slowly chipping away at their tower and perhaps win, but if they pick somebody who can break your shield from outside of E range like Cait, who is super popular on that map for 1v1s, you would lose to a bronze 5 player. honestly if it's blind pick, anything you choose should not auto lose to Cait. I'm also skeptical of 30/0/0 Fizz for this reason I don't think that match up is auto lose, but with the win conditions you've given you will only ever have starting items reguardless of farm, so she has no incentive to get into Q range and for you to shove back the wave you'll get chipped. Although in early rounds a bad Cait might let you walk up to her and kill her at which point it's lulz.

Aatrox could be interesting too since it's impossible to tower dive but very very easy for him to do it. @Slusher: Don't underestimate Fizz's lvl 3 all-in when you can start with both buff potions, it's rediculously strong. It is a coinflip based entirely on their champion pick, if they are squishy enough it is a free win flash->trickster closes any gap unless they are willing to miss out on exp. In 1v1 on HA, you want a champion with either great shoving and sustain or an assassin with a very strong lvl 3 all-in. Anything in-between loses to the other two if played competently.

if you blow E and/or Q to get into rage for the other she will be able to get you off of her.

Compared to S3, pre-S4 and S4 might have an international scene again. Not quite the caliber of IPL5 but it's a start.

Personally, from my experience - pretty much every week some of my friends and I hold mini-tournaments in 1v1 HA, I've never seen ADCs do too well, they simply rely too much on items and get crushed by any champion that scales well off levels and assassins can be horrible match ups too depending on the champion picks. - another reason I think the lack of ADC results I've seen is we nearly always go for the defensive tree (simply to have a sliver of chance to survive early all-in champions) which together with a DShield can really put a hamper on their damage. Annie could be an interesting choice too, all DRing start and wave clear until level 6 and then combo for the kill.

Good to have some "international scene" back, but with those minuscule amounts of participants, it'll barely be representative. Oh well, we can only hope Riot steps up.. my analysis of the match up is this, Cait can shove forcing you to blow E to midigate tower damage, at which point she can pot shot either you or your tower. your only opportunity for attack is if she casts Q from a poor location. If that does not happen the best way to get to a good positional Cait player will be to stand next to her caster minions, Q through from melee range and E on to her, if she saves net I'll probly lose the trade if she gets nervous and throws it out early (especially if I E it on reaction) she is dead. if she hits me with E she can auto me for free for ~10 seconds before she has to regain positioning. again I assume she will save flash for my flash. so my best bet is to open something where I can absorb some shots from her in order to keep her from autoing my tower (I need to be able to posture if her + minions are hitting my tower I might not get the levels I need) and try to all in her at 6, but I'd much rather just have a different champion. also if she keeps the healths trapped she auto wins all health pickup exchanges.

(and Riot Please, don't screw over Europe again) is there any indication of Riot having an interest in running an international scene? it seems that the siloed regional leagues are here to stay, and bringing top teams to an international circuit would be difficult due to regular seasons. it's also not feasible for teams outside the top tier to afford traveling worldwide, so i'm not sure what the future holds for the international scene

Unless you play with a 100 CS = win (which we stopped with because Yorick is retarded in that case) I don't think Cait or any ADC can handle a Fizz in HA maybe Ezreal with his high(er) mobility starting with Sheen Ezreal is a scary scary poke machine.

She can still Peacemaker the wave from a safe distance. unless you mean you would literally wait for your tower to push back the wave, I mean if she can stomach laming it out she can still win but my god, you'd beat me in that mental battle if there wasn't money on the line.

It would make judging a regions overall skill a little easier. In the Spring Split they had the show matches with Gambit, KT B, dig and Curse. Would have been cool to see something similar in the Summer Split to at least get a hint of where C9 stacks up. Edit: Also, I've mentioned it a fair amount, but if you haven't watched the Gambit vs KT B games, go watch the VODs, that was a great series.

In sc2 I felt that although the game was harder mechanically, it was easier to have a plan, identify my mistakes in different areas and improve upon them, and even if I was still quite bad at it (diamond terran) I was learning from my losses and improving. Slowly, but still improving. In LoL I'm having a really hard time identifying my mistakes, and the few obvious one that I do I find myself repeating them over and over again anyways. I especially suck at laning. Haven't won a lane top or mid by myself against a competent opponent in a looong time. I guess the fact that I never stick to a champion for more than a few games doesn't help. If I were to pick one champion and grind 100+ games on it to learn how to lane correctly, what would be a good choice?
