Only way I've found to shutdown Ahri when I jungle is to have a mid laner with decent kill potential, make sure I help warding, gank her pre-6 trying to get a kill or force her flash, and then just camp her whenever my ult is up (as Vi), because she will try to be cute (especially if baited by my laner) at some point and I'll be there to lock her down.
Because she still has 2 dashes after I go in I really need the laner to have the damage to kill her during the lockdown (Zed, Fizz, etc.), some cc to pin her down (Lissandra, Annie) or both (ironically Lux works pretty well because my ult is a free Q (thus full combo) on Ahri, and because the match-up is naturally fox-inclined they'll be easier to bait/catch diving).
Overall the Ahri I play are really bad, though. They don't try much pre-6 unless their jungler is there (I tend to get camped but it has more to do with Ahri getting wrecked from level 1 onwards than chance I'd say), they don't even try to hit a charm unless I step waaaaay outside of the creep wave or facecheck. Usually they only start trying to roam once they get a kill/farm advantage off a gank, or if I can't get the 2nd blue and start running oom fighting their shoving.
I think I've had more Ahri(s) ult me as a reactive move because just outtraded them and they try to all-in to make up for it, than I've had really try to outright aggro me.
Feels weird because I've seen Ahri(s) on my team play really balls to the wall, roam a ton, make plays, even without the jungler helping them, but I've never face any directly. Since I'm still pretty bad at mid (I'd say I'm somewhat consistent, but I don't have the mechanics/game sense to really convert a good trade into a kill, most of the time I only get a back out of it, or when I pressure a melee as Ori I build up a small cs/exp lead but I never shove them out of lane or kill them and they catch back up later) it's not me being better than even the good Ahri(s), so I'm surprised at the difference.
Guess I'll chalk it up to Viktor scaring people (they don't realise his levels 4-5 are way weaker than his 1 and 3).

Swain's one of my favourite champions but I really don't see him doing well because of how bad he is at pushing (Zed, Ahri, Lux, etc. pretty popular, and they're too mobile for his tether/delayed AoE and/or too long-ranged for him so even if they somehow failed to beat him they can just push, roam and ignore him) and how susceptible he is to early ganks.
With a bunch of the focus in soloQ being on snowballing lanes, Swain falls so hard when he's behind that I really don't see how he would be that successful? Very risky pick anyhow.

I wonder if zilean will come back with these assassins mid being in popularity. He does well against ori (who isn't an assassin but a somewhat common pick), obviously will do well against zed because he has no cc so can't action hero ult and just walk away. Ahri gets much more difficult once her e is maxed, you'll need merc treads. He should be pretty bad against fizz though, with him dodging your bombs, but you won't die to fizz.

I was busy all weekend, only got a few games in - should be streaming tonight I think.
The few games I did play him I did quite well. It requires further testing for variance though. (Keep in mind I went 18 straight games with heimer before I lost, but those losses were crushing).

Even though Corki was the first AD carry i learned... I was so happy not playing him. I didn't want to go back to playing corki!

I fully expect to be called a lemming or whichever the term used in the LoL-community is when I keep banning Corki and people think it's because of tonight (well I only started 4 days ago but still).
I've also seen several (pretty terrible) Ezreal mid last week, with a weak underestanding of why he's played and (especially) the item builds, but I don't have enough bans to make sure they don't.

What did they do to Corki to make him so strong? I'm not sure if I missed it or if it's recent enough and I'm just oblivious to changes.

recent triforce buff combined with latent corki buffs from a few patches ago
mainly some mana cost stuff from a while back and now carries who can use TF well are stronk.

He's also so fucking safe with Valk (now that the mana is possible).

The triforce changes make his kiting even stronger, and put his midgame burst at the very top tier (the proc went from 150% of base AD to 200%, that's a 33% increase and has the most impact in midgame, when you have some levels but people don't have a bunch of armour or multiplicative stats yet, which also happens to be Corki's peak).
The mana cost changes (and several bug fixes) also make his laning much easier, and thus more bullying.
People in general were reminded that Corki exists, and he happens to fit pretty well in the "blow up stuff" with emphasis on snowballing and midgame skirmishes.
All his AoE also makes him a pretty good teamfighter at these stages.

Ah, ok thanks. I noticed people building Triforce more. I certainly don't mind the item being used again, but yeah, Corki is strong as hell. More than once my team and I have gone for clean up in a skirmish only for corki to come in and make us all cry.

That raises an interesting question:
What is the earliest Triforce timing we will see at Worlds?
I would have said sub-10 minutes if Royal was in groups, but otherwise I dunno.

Going to see if I can carry myself to plat with Syndra. I can delete one champ (the ADC or mid) from a teamfight assuming I land a Q+E stun.Stun-DFG-w-r and they disappear. Only problem is she is weak in lane to gapclosing assassins like Fizz/zed who are pretty much FotM
