Obviously there are talks with various companies, and some banks if rumours are to be believed, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It's just common sense. As for the obligatory thoughts on the consequences involving the Starcraft 2 scene, the thing is, the competitive scene involving Starcraft 2 was always going to be more of a global phenomenon, rather than a KeSPA associated professional e-Sport, and was celebrated as such worldwide. KeSPA is making smart business decisions based on simple market research, and I don't know why some people pretend to get surprised that Starcraft 2 was never a thing in Korea, just because it made huge splashes across the globe elsewhere.
Ive read the inven article but wasnt so sure with my translation and was hoping you would post something about it :p
The most important part is that the mobile viewing number is incredible high for LoL. In addition to the amount of young people. Was just a matter of time that big companies want a piece from that pie.

do you mean the trolls part or that they are asleep :p
@Skillceiling discussion: this is absolute bullcrap. It doesnt matter how high a ceiling is if its not getting reached. All people who write that the skillceiling is low and are not professionells are big mouthed.

A lot of amateur mediocre sc2 players (like me) think that skill = MECHANICSMECHANICSMECHANICS because, well, we suck at it lol. And fail to realize how hard it is to actually have a really strong team that can outwit and outplay from champion select all the way till late game. It's really a different genre, and the skills required for the two games are pretty darn different. People should just accept sc2 isn't that popular in Korea, so why not make it more popular in other countries?
It's not that the internet is dumb, it's just human nature to not change haha.

I think a big thing, though, is that Riot can slowly raise the skillceiling, because the way their updates work allow them to totally introduce potentially game-changing mechanics on a regular basis. Blizzard was stuck in the confines of a traditional RTS genre game, and couldn't really transform it save their expansions.

Interesting point would be how much Riot gives up its power in Korea or how they want to keep Kespa in check

According to the numbers, the majority clearly agrees with me. There's no skill ceiling in LoL; it's a person vs person match up.

One of the great mysteries to me is how sc2 players can deride LoL for a low mechanical skill ceiling when they themselves are championing one of the greatest skill ceiling watering-down sequels of all time. Next to melee->brawl of course haha. I mean, I can totally understand since I was initially put off LoL for it's simpler mechanics compared to dota.. but damn, LoL is just good times man.

The thing is, the people that just make fun of LoL for its low mechanical requirement never played Broodwar :3

Ozone vs KTA sounds more like a Matador beating up a bull rather than an equal match lol.

Yep, I dont believe in skill ceilings for games played at a pro level. Also, a lot of the 'skill' differential with e.g. Dota comes from very arbitrary things that are very strong but that you just dont always are in the mood to bother with because they are not fun at all and feel like hoops you have to jump through, like bottle crowing, ancient stacking, tranqs dissassembling, ... Even defensive tri-lanes and the much more snowbally nature of (flash) farming in dota feel like this to me. Its cool to see when its done perfectly by pros but its not a fun 'skill' to acquire as someone who plays for fun

that thead is full of trolls and retards. best to jsut avoid it. on that very same page, someone was saying SC2 was harder than BW.

Not hard to make a game thats harder than another. Pretty sure I could take Minesweeper, black out the screen and omg look its now harder than SC2 or LoL or whatever!!!!, new e-sport imo. A lot more to a game than mechanical difficulty, hell thats basically just another way of saying barrier to entry.
But yes they are obviously right in that LoL is a very easy game to learn, and relatively easy to master (in comparison). I fail to see how thats a downside though...
