So if I press shift at the same time... dindindin To be honest, I don't even see why anyone would argue that /other people/ should not care about pressing some extra keys. Clearly the very fact that so many people do care means that it's not identical. If it doesn't bother you, that doesn't mean it doesn't bother others. SC2 puts a heavy toll on my wrists, LoL not so much so, but it's still noticeable after long bouts of gaming. (My setup isn't particularly ergonomic, so that doesn't help. I also had wrist problems a few years ago, so I'm a lot more sensitive to flare-ups now.) Having awkward modifier keys that you hit very often is a very taxing thing if you're prone to wrist problems. There's no reason to take the toll if you can just reassign keyboard shortcuts, even if there weren't also the awkwardness of basically constantly pressing a key for no reason to cast any spell at all. Otherwise you might as well map your spells to control+alt+shift+q/w/e/r! If you're not crippled you'll still have a finger to spare :-) Edit: But to not derail the thing too much: How bout that AP rengar? I saw people mention it in the Rengar GD thread, that's the only reason I found out about it -- but I didn't see any mentions since.

Also a few blitzes who were amazing at landing grabs. One would grab people as the minions were dying. Scary stuff.

I just don't use non-smartcast for anything. Its not hard to learn moves. I don't think its caused me to miss a Victor laser since the first bot game I played...

I grew up playing fps's so I play centred on the wasd cluster with my ring finger on 1(I use numbers not qwer) and my pinky on shift. I don't see why anyone would use their pinky for Q, if you came from an rts background, your pinky would be stuck on shift/ctrl as well.

I came from playing lots of FPS originally and so I use my ring finger for Q (and in FPS, pinky for shift to crouch). I reach over with my index finger if I need to hit R. I can't imagine using your pinky for Q o.o hitting D is just so unnatural then.

I'm not saying elo hell as all people says exist indeed, but there is indeed a certain level of play where your team mate put you in shit and that shit will depend a lot on the position you play. I was a high master in sc2 before gm came up, I'm confident with my skill, and I clearly see that there are games at low elo that I just cannot win. For exemple, I figured out that playing jungle was great to grind elo, because you can have a huge impact on the game by actually helping your team mate at the right moments and making them at least on par with their opponents. Mid is good too because if you take the edge on your opponent, you can just roam and turn the game upside down. On the other side, as I am now around 1500 elo (which is weak I know, I'm not that good at lol) when I just play support or carry I just lose half the time whatever the skill I deliver. Even if you win your lane, if the other lane just lose, you will eventually get trolled with 4-5 people on your lane and you just cannot take that. The worst is when I play with some of my friends who are around 1100 elo, there is always, always one lane who is feeding on one team or another. TL;DR: all that elo hell crap is a question of what position you play in the team.

Basically you shift the main row (for normal typing) up so it's on the keys that you use the most. It could be interesting to try and place your spells on ASDF...

If you can't carry games as support or ADC the fact is you are not as good at support as you are on other roles. (i.e. your "jungle elo" is 1500 but your "support elo" is 1300 or whatever so it's hard to make an impact when you are simply bad at it)

This is also the reason the default mapping for summoners is D & F (they're just below E and R). Nothing is more natural than pressing QWER with pinky-ring-middle-index. edit: this is so natural that someone actually made a program for Warcraft III that could re-map every single ability so that people could follow this paradigm
