Loll. Nyjacky and Saint at it. That's how you know you fucked up, when Jacky is vocal.

Am I weird for wanting less bans? Honestly I think if bans were more important (via having less of them) you would see a more interesting result.

Also I see the problem he thinks will happen because of interwoven ban/pick but if you limit to 4 bans and do banx2 pickx4 banx2 pickx6 it will really let the game evolve into something a lot greater

Man Saint is dropping the ball today, I can't even imagine how bad Nyjacky will be towards him now. Team cohesion seems pretty awful for Curse with infighting. Can't see this looking too good long-term esspecially when they're trying to play with Salce.

ok let me take for example Fizz, a champion I consider myself to be very good at, I rarely pick him before the other AP is chosen because he has 2 unwinnable matchups, 2, and for a pro, in an actual tournament, you can bet 2 unwinnable matchups is enough to never see the champion used.

As the Yango pointed out more bans actually makes more champions/strats viable, because you can make them safe picks via bans.

this is evident at TI2, where teams picked what they thought was OP combos not worried about matchups because they knew they could cover their ass with the 2nd ban phase (although I realize a lot of this has to do with safe lane / long lane mechanics.)

What exactly are the two unwinnable matchups for Fizz?

I'm not thinking too clearly right now.

TF was zoning Cop from the fight and 4v4 with one team having no ADC can mean a world of difference when you fight to the wire.

Fizz is kind of hard for Swain because of his heal debuff. He has the advantage but one misstep and you get fish'd and die.

Ryze can build Mercs and stack negatrons and still do a million damage.

2 of my games today crashed and you couldn't reconnect back to them. Both games I was Lee Sin and carrying. You can't explain that.

Nah, when you carry with lee, you become one with lee (meaning you can't see anything)

Same thing happens to me when I early snowball with Shyvana. I mean, it's gotta feel really good when you're super behind in a game, but it hasn't happened to me yet. =[

Some of it is interesting, most not. TLDR: They are afraid of interwoven bans stopping non-standards comps (Poke Comps I think they have in mind) as well as making solo lanes even more hard-countery.

I disagree with their line of logic. If a team banned out all of the common supports it'd force some unusual bot lanes or possibly even new comps built around not having a standard support. If we had more bans we wouldn't have instances where pro players on the highest caliber of teams come to tournaments with only three champions prepared to play (I'm not even pulling that number out of my ass, so many players especially AP mids and AD carries play 2-3 champions for an entire tournament).

I think the more likely reason is they don't want to limit ranked more than it already is. Their business model is not conducive to adding more bans or layered bans. I think the competitive scene should consider adding a new ban phase without Riot's consent for tournaments. I remember way back when teams would do picks/bans in pre-game lobby Hotshot mentioned that CLG was working on a program to handle picks/bans for tournaments to speed up the pick/ban process. I'm sure someone could make a program similar to that for tournament organizers to use.

Basically with the large number of champions I don't see any justification not to create more bans. Teams get to come to tournaments with only a handful of champions prepared and that isn't good for the scene at all imo.

I agree with more bans. I kinda agree with the "no second ban" phase though. With the current champ pool it pretty much eliminates most hope of playing a poke comp, the meta gets locked in until they add 2-3 more peeling/kiting/defensive supports and 1-2 more long range ADs.

They need to add more supports and ADs that are actually different into the game regardless. Having the pool be so low is just problematic for the future in terms of strategy.

Well yes. Everyone wants more bans so they can keep banning Morg/Vlad/Shen/Karth/Ali while still being able to ban champs that counterpick what they want to play like banning Nunu or Rumble. I get that mid and top want more bans, honestly I don't care. Maybe if a champ has too many counterpicks in lane you shouldn't instalock it as first pick in SoloQ.

Everyone just forgets that botlane is already lame because of the tiny champ pool. The fact that two of the supports that can force diversity in the pool (Ali/Nunu) because they are both defensive and offensive are banned because of jungle doesn't help either. The next 5 champs they release could be ADs and Supports and botlane still wouldn't be too crowded.
