Now if only Haunting Guise builds into something. What about going giant's belt instead of two doran's? Its only like 2 more minions worth of gold, and gives you faster rylai's/more hp. Chalice + Belt should make you a pain to knock out of lane, but this is just theory crafting. It's like back when everybody was playing sustain top lane, but now its sustain crazy mid lane. Edit: Chalice, Belt, Revolver
Well, that build is meant for the early/mid game at the expense of slower Deathcap. The amount of chasing power and damage you have is nuts. Even post-nerf nothing compares to Dorans. The difference of coming back to lane early with 1-2 Rings vs 1-2 Tomes is huge.
But I see what you're saying...just buy a Chalice instead of Rings, and build AP from there. I can definitely see Chalice>(Revolver if needed)>Haunting Guise builds working.
EDIT: Haunting Guise + Sorc + MPen reds + Abyssal (esp in double AP teams) is 70 MR negated. Wow.

wota still worth the money on a large number of champions, and chalice is irrelevant what aps can go top has always been decided by mobility/durability
I honestly think Haunting Guise is the only item change that makes me think of making changes to some builds.

With the nerf the Doran's I can imagine going Chalice first on a number of mid APs. It amplifies everything from base regen to blue buff, and provides significant survivability against your laning opponent. The big issue with it before was that it didn't build into anything, but Athene's is a very solid item.

I like all the item changes, the new one is basicly an indirect buff to galio and all the manahungry ap carries and maybe bruisers. There is no FoN change. They just reworded the tooltip to be in terms of hp5. The numbers are the exact same. Force of Nature Passive Health Regeneration increased from 0.35% of your maxmium Health every 5 seconds, to 1.75% of your maxmium Health every 5 seconds. I see a buff... Force of nature currently isn't 0.35% HP/5. Currently it's: "Unique: Restores 0.35% of your champion's maximum health every second." Which is 1.75% HP5. Which is the exact same as what's "changed" on PBE. Show nested quote +On April 25 2012 00:19 Wetty wrote: Like LAN cafes in china? All over the place, you just need to know where to look. I think Uni means the team houses for the Chinese pro teams (WE, iG, CLC, etc.). thx for responding to this guy i forgot i made a post lol and yea but no one seems to know so t_t

Effectively, Haunting Guise traded 527 gold worth of HP for 435 gold worth of AP, plus a bit extra MS to fill the gold difference. The "buff" is really overblown. It's really more of a sidegrade--the actual cost-effectiveness barely changed. While it definitely is an improvement, it's hardly enough to rocket an item that was never bought to must-buy status.

Movement speed is really good.

In a game where your blue is being derped...is there any AP mid (mana) where tear is not a good option?

Panky good caster imoimo, though I guess he doesn't really sound excited often.

I'd never build tear on Cass/Morg, for example, since I never find that I need it that much. Or on Annie, and probably a bunch of others I can't think of.

Haunting Guise on Rumble, everything a rumble wants to be even more of a jerk in lane. Kennen as well now that I think about it. Move speed boosts like this work well for both of them. I am even thinking about it on Singed.

Tear doesn't get you mana in the laning phase. It gets you mana in the lategame, when the vast majority of characters don't have mana problems. If you're having mana problems in laning then catalyst/RoA/drings/chalice is what you want.

Good good.
Mana management is my weakness in mid (especially when I don't have blue), so perhaps just hold off my DCap a bit longer.

I think ap corki should get a tears. This is debatable though.
