I don't see why you would get it on champs who don't already need heavy mana or mana regen items and even then on say Kog, or Kass, the fact that it has no baseline mana makes it still inferior to AA+RoA combo due to no actual mana increase on the item. Living Artilery spam for instance chews through mana so quickly I feel like base mana would be more useful in most situations. Swain I can see Anivia I can see probly nice for galio idk I guess I'm surprised people are so exited for this item. When I heard they were making a new AP item I was really hoping to get a selfish upgrade for Revolver for bruiser top comps, and instead I get a wota nerf and this thing...

If a hero already doesn't get chalice then I don't see why they would get this.

nerf base true damage on w and either (read: not both) hit the mana or the range a bit. then with R Increase the mana cap to 250 Edit: I also agree with the post below about ww, I was afraid to comment because I don't even own ww >.> but from observation it seems like the mana cost was already prohibitive the fact that they even hit the mana cost is baffling to me, it's like the recent ww buffs causing a lanewick resurgence was a complete surprise to them and they don't like/want him being used out of the jungle.

But his mana costs were already huge, and Q hard to use prior level 3, I'd only use it if really needed for sustain before level 5, now it'll heal less and cost more... I think it's a very significant nerf to his early game. About MF, isn't it a nerf with the current AD marks trend, when you don't have any arpen aside from those 10% and your lane opponent is likely to run armor seals and thus have more armor than MR? At least in the early game. If it drags long enough for you to get LW it's not like you use your ult anyway. ![]()

Because it builds into something, which is the only limiting factor for chalice right now. Triple Dring chalice will not only win you the lane, but also transition into lategame. If they keep the current numbers, I promise that it will be retardedly OP on any mana-based AP mid (aka: not Kennen) It'd be nice to have something else than Cap to build, tho.

3drings along is already a pretty big commitment to lane dominance.

Not only does "win lane, win game" not always apply as many people think it does, but triple DRing does not necessarily win lane, especially in mid. Not only that, but 3 DRing into chalice is way overkill. That said, I think this new chalice item will be very strong if the current numbers stay. I don't understand why they took the time to be like "We're nerfing blue buff to reduce the mana sustain in late game fights to make it harder for teams to push after a fight." And then and go make an item with a passive that restores obscene amounts of mana and will completely undo (even over correct) the changes made to blue buff. I'm glad they're trying to do something with these mid-game dead end items, but I think they're going about it wrong.

old standard used to be RoA -> got shafted because games now increasingly decided within first 15~20 minutes so people started going drings because drings are good and chalice didnt really build into anything blue buff gets hit hard they now give chalice a viable build path + drings have been nerfed for 20 hp each (small nerf but still !) not much of a stretch to imagine that this new item will be really popular
