The thing about Morgana is if you don't get an early advantage in the lane (and sometimes even if you do), she can just safely farm farm farm and sustain through harass with her passive. One mistake means eating a root and puddle, which can result in getting zoned for a bit because of her flash ult burst. She has a unique ability in her shield, and good zone control in team fights with her puddle. First ban first pick worthy? I don't think so, but the fact remains, it's not a fun lane because of the poor kill potential in her lane. I would rather lane against something I can cc and focus down, then play in a farm fest to see who can get more creeps.
The same thing goes for Shen. When laning vs him you're going to have a hard time killing him, and he can just q and heal up on minions, and with a long taunt you're going to have a hard time diving for a kill. So its another one of those farm fest lanes most of the time, and I just want to kill people and snowball out of control.

Agreed, it's not that Morgana is THAT deadly/dangerous, even when fed she's managable but it's very hard to get her to do badly, and very hard to have a really good lane vs her. Her ability to escape ganks is insane, and her sustain and wave farming is good enough to live trough harass.

When I see the bans at that Elo, it actually reminds me more of the veto system for SC2 maps than a real ban procedure, in that people just select what they don't like, or have been told is imbalanced, without putting much thought into it.
How is it at higher Elo? Do people discuss bans more? Are they more generic or targeted at whatever you don't like when you're first pick (from what I recall, the practices regarding that point are quite split in our subforum)?
I'm always surprised at people banning following exactly the same procedure whether they're first pick or second pick. FP gives you so many opportunities to force "standard" bans on your opponent, thus keeping a number of options open, or being able to ban whatever you don't like. From my perspective as a frequent stream watcher and I watch every big tournie I can, they differ. In solo q, I don't see much discussion at high ELOs. They just ban the pretty gimmicky champs like Shaco and Shen(dat ulti son). You will also see some of the less usual bans like Graves or Ryze, at least compared to the lower ELO. I remember when I had first pick and I banned like Shen, Urgot, and Ryze. Teammates gave me so much shit for banning Ryze+Urgot. Urgot may have been a tad overboard(he was getting REAL popular with the pros at the time though) but Ryze was understandable imo. I mean, sure a lot of people will probably suck using him, but ehh. However, when you see the pros together, its a different story. I hear a LOT of talk during scrims, sometimes they ban at the very last moment. Tournies are usually targeted bans. Take IPL4 for example. CLG vs TSM GFs had CLG banning Nocturne ALL 6 games. It pretty much shut down TOO entirely. Wait, Shen is still ban status? I thought he was considered pretty mediocre since his series of nerfs. I've been playing him and winning, but he never really felt overly strong to me, imo. If you saw my infamous series of posts in the Fiora discussion thread, you would know that I sympathize with you somewhat. I feel hes REALLY strong and perfectly viable, but I don't think I ever felt he was "omg remove from game or we afk" status. Hell, I treat him just like I would Riven really. Try and play passive with a hard-scaling champion into late game like Irelia and run teleport. Once again, hes a great champ that will dominate a lot of top lanes, but he isn't unstoppable. Just extremely hard to kill, and he gets to split push all he wants while his team sits around Baron. Necessary to humble you imo.
Oh, of course. I severely underestimated how much they did buff him that day. Still don't think he was or is as broken as some of the other past champs(Yes you at DH Vlad).

I'm looking for an opinion on a situation I was in last night. I was playing Lulu for the first time ever last night as AP, we invaded and I picked up FB against the Annie was matched up against mid. The team based after FB and I'm on the platform with boots+3 and 420 gold. What would you do/buy?
I ended the game 9-4-12, so I ended up doing okay, but I didn't feel very strong through the early and mid game even after FBing. I know for a fact i was rushing my e-to-minion into q onto annie but I'm mostly concerned with the decision on what to buy after pre-minion FB. Thoughts?

The thing about morgana is she's easy to use, but hard to counter (in terms of relative skill). That's why she often has the stigma of "op'd".

this sounds good, having the extra mana to harass would probably help you push your advantage more than anything else
my first thought though was an amp tome to rush an early revolver

do people actually build those on her? i'm sure nashor's is great on a hybrid lulu, but if i bought a meki pendant i would probably just treat it like a d-ring, the mana regen on either of those big items is almost completely useless by the time you'd finish them and i don't think you'd want to delay her deathcap+wota core for one either.

I would get a codex with it, and sit on the codex for a while. Turning people into bunnies then slowing them and wacking them with pix and a nashor's is fun. I recommend everybody try it at least once.

I don't. Lulu doesn't really have mana issues. I would personally save the money, probably buy a ward, and just have DRings earlier. I play lulu as more of a tanky support mid though. Her ratios are crazy, and it's extremely difficult to kill her in lane.

You're going to be getting DFG with that unless its have fun we're 10+ kills ahead and got all the objectives time. I think death cap wota rushing is over rated, and sitting on a codex/chalice with a hextech revolver is fine.
edit: If you're playing a tanky support, isn't 40% CDR a priority over damage?

but my new love is skarner. he is head and shoulders above the rest of the junglers, even after his nerfs, and he's another one people like to shit on because they can't manage their mana. I KEEP TRUCKING.
