I am sufficiently curious now... I thought that Utility is best because it isn't itemized nearly as much as the offensive tree, and in all my games I have just always felt like my utility was helping me substantially more, especially when it comes to mana regen, summoner CD, CDR, Buff duration, etc.
is offensive really better? hmm... Will have to give a try now. Thanks for responding with so much detail! Overall (IE all mastery points in a given tree) it goes: O>D>>>>>>U Cutting useless ones out into a 21 point tree you get: O=D>>>>U. Well then I have a couple of other questions :D If I were to pick Veigar for instance, would 20/0/10 be acceptable? With Buff Duration? And if i were to pick a melee AD, 21/9/0 or 9/21/0? Thanks! But really, why is Utility so bad? Besides the useless ones ofc What is the 10th point in utility? Nothing low in the tree is worth grabbing over the Execution mastery at 21 O. Just go 21-0-9. It depends. Some bruisers like 21-9, others like 9-21. It depends on who you want to play.
Lol idk what the 10th pt was.... but do you really think Veigar needs Executioner? XD I can honestly say tha I have never once needed that with that purple little devil. 100%-0%. Same reason I don't get ignite with him. With MY DFG and Cap, no one will get below before 40% without already dyingg. I like Veigar :D
|
Well the point is that you might as well, since nothing in the 10th point in utility is better than executioner, and if you're that confident in 1-shotting someone, chances are you might be over-killing them, which is not a good thing either.
Incidentally, I like 9/0/21 on some of my casters. It's mostly because some AP casters benefit a lot more from the summoner spell reduction than the boost in late-game firepower. Just my opinion.
|
Veigar is one of the very few champs you could think about going 9/0/21 on. But then you'd miss out on the 5% AP masteries, so it's terrible again.
Executioner is not really all that great, but since the alternatives are 0.5% movespeed and 1 mp5....

when I'm on a losing spree, I just get pissed off, go into 'i don't give a fuck mode' and play my main (warwick). Works nice evrytime.
But seriously every so offer you get these string of games that make you feel so helplessly mad or just depressed.

I have been trying to jungle with her, and her early game seems descent but doesnt scale well into the late game well. Am I just doing something wrong or is this a common problem? You just building her wrong or something. She scales similarly to a Master Yi, if not even harder imo. Her autos deal tons of damage regardless of items, but you can simply go straight AD on her because her E gives you a ridiculous +120% attack speed and also resets your auto attack timer. That, and her ultimate has an absurdly high AD scaling... things just die.
So wait, she's decent? Should I spend that 6k IP on her after all?

I just remembered what it was. Improved recall XD. My friend, who is a lot better than me, always got it and told me to so that you can leave lane and be back supa fast with TP and get a kill before they even notice you're gone

I have no clue what your 10 points are in now. What my 9 is Your 10? I really think we need a thread to highlight which masteries are absolute trash since some of them aren't obvious. Like is the new deadliness mastery any good or is it actually better to skip that and 10% crit damage for havoc and cdr instead.
|
maybe i will get flamed for this :D but i dont think any of the masteries are 'much' worse than the others. for example i heard people say havok is trash. but if your entire goal with a build/hero is to deal more damage its gonna have its place. i think people say trash when they mean situational.

Well I am an idiot. I accidentally left a point in move speed. And that thread sounds great. Like really good. But who would ever take on such a task?

That was the thread created for the new masteries. On page 11 was my cost efficiency breakdown of the masteries. Also on that page is Mogwai/Smash's link to his similar numbers on the regular boards. I believe that post (and his other posts in that TL thread) explain with analysis the comparative value of the trees.

Important items purchased by your team will now be called out in chat (Aura items, Sight and Vision Wards, top tier items, etc)
Omg love this so much.

Damnit, someone just noticed what my name "HyuK StyLe" was reference to, and someone queue dodged before I could remember their name.

Then I tilt, feed, and carry it to the next game. After a while I get to the point of "well I've lost so many in a row, I'm bound to get carried soon' and I play shut like ap yi or jungle irelia or w/e. Don't do that. It never works. Sometimes you just have Terrible luck - best thing to do is to go and play as an old favorite - for me udyr or skarner - and just clean house with them. For me it's going /ignore all and making sure I get every single buff when it spawns. Get back in rhythm and you can take your streak the other direction. After I basically had 14 straight games with a d/c (I'm not even exaggerating ) I just buckled down with skarner and went from 1350 back to 1650 pretty much without a hitch. You do da aps right? I'm down to duo with you if you'd like
I do this with Karthus, Get a string of bad games while playing your other roles and you didn't play well/had shit team? Jump on Karthus and just carry the fuck out of people. Last time this happened I had lost 6 straight games dropped me down to sub 1100 elo. Jumped back on Karthus and won 14 straight. <3 that damn skeleton.

Last game I played everyone on the team was buying wards pretty continuously and yea it gets old when they are bought that often. And I really don't see the point of announcing items that people get as you should be aware of what your allies and enemies are building anyway.

I'm assuming that they've taken a look at Dota2 and saw that they announce ward purchases. However it doesn't make as much sense in LoL since we can buy unlimited number of wards while Dota(2) has a limited stock that refills over time. Other items can be useful when you don't want to waste time/gold on overlapping oracles or aegis.

Useful when you have that one teammate that yells at the team saying no one is buying wards except him and he doesn't notice anyone else's wards because they keep getting cleared. Now all you have to do is point to the chat XD.

Loving Fiora so far. Played one game in lane with Soraka(built her badly, still did pretty well), and jungled the second game. The jungle route was much more successful. Ended up going something like 12/2/9 both games. Granted it was normal, but still. I find her really fun to play, although I'm not quite sure how to build her item-wise as of now.
Been going something like Wriggles/mercs/brutalizer(eventually ghostblade)/BT/IE/FM. I like the FM for the slow because other than that she has no other CC, but I feel like a PD would be pretty insane with her E and IE.
Thoughts?

Cheesy quote from one of my favorite coaches:
"You can never be tiltless, but you can always tilt less."
...pros tilt less compared to their skill level. That's why they're there. Their A-Game is stronger than most other peoples A-Game and/or they play their A-Game more than other people.

Replace "crutch" with "bad habit" and it should seem easier. If you do it all the time but you can't logically justify it every time it might be a good indicator of a crutch.
I think it's a cool exercise and goes in line with completely focusing on a single aspect of a game for a while which is pretty much one of the most accepted ways of training a bigger thing in anything, but gamers seem to dislike the concept since it requires work & self-reflection and therefore a professional attitude. Something which VERY few "competetive / professional gamers" have anyway.

My crutch is that I have a habit of getting carried every game I win. Does that count?
