To be honest I think the best way for a champion to draw aggro is to simply have low hp. Tanky champions usually eat the harass so when they engage they will already be at lower hp. Once they eat a bit more of the random AoE and AD AA chipping damage people tend to focus on them.

Which is why Janna is the only tank in this game. And this is not my first time saying that.
"Tank" just has no commonly accepted definition in LoL, and the existing definitions are wildly contradicting each other. This is worse than discussing gold/10 because it doesn't even have any meaning for acual gameplay (I don't care what your label is, I might care about your items though).
IMO tank is a champion who has extremely high survivability and in addition wants to draw attention of enemies to yourself. This is generally done by being disruptive in some way or by dealing enough damage that you can't be ignored. Generally the dealing enough damage ones are considered bruisers, but out of disruptive ones I could mention Shen taunt, Galio taunt, Rammus taunt, Malphite AoE attack speed slow, Nautilus mass cc, etc.
Your definition still describes janna. Killing janna is kinda hard (having extremeli high defensive stats on the other hand would make her not qualify to being a tank but then probably there will be other counterexamples)
Not really that difficult, if you catch her she drops like a fly. Escaping isn't tanking, there's some common sense allowed.
You did not use the word "tanky" in your definition tho. And a farmed janna doesn't drop like a fly, same thing could be said about most champs played as a support. She has a cc, a shield (+survivability) and a heal (+survivability)

Okay? That really doesn't add anything unless she's built AP in which case she's a mage and has no survivability, if you build her tanky she's tanky but nothing in comparison to actual tanks.

Aka how Singed tanks.
lol.. How about don't take all the free damage and just build ALL damage items then you'll automatically be low hp and people will focus you!!

I actually played against a twitch who rushed warmogs. It kinda like froggen building hp on casters, it worked pretty well...

Somebody has to stand in the front, can't do that if you are squishy as cabbage.

ye you actually dont want to get focussed as singed. you often are being focussed though because you need to get into ppls faces which is ok until LW happens. After that singed is a push and bait machine.

he was jokeing. It is kind of a misconception that bruisers have to tank damage to protect their teammates. It's rather that they cannot deal damage without tanking alot of it. Anyone who gets focussed by a 5man team dies anyways.

Why do you need to stay in the front? Surely you can get some CC down and stay with the rest of your team, why would you stand there taking damage when you don't have to?

I think there are two types of 5v5 team fights.
One is the Mexican standoff, this could happen at dragon/mid tower/baron whatever. What happens is generally the champions that can poke trying to poke and champions with hard CC(Morgana binding for example) trying to land their skill shots. The support stay in the back while the tanky dps that do not have a dash(Nasus/Garen etc) stay with the squishies. The tanky champions with some form of dash + CC(Irelia/Leona/J4 etc) try to look for an opening. They are the ones who generally get hit by the skills or getting AA'd by the carries. Now unless you do not wish to start a team fight, your front line will take some damage.
The other is the "OH SHIT I JUST RAN INTO THE OTHER TEAM IN THE JUNGLE" or the "HA I GOT YOUR ASS NOW THANKS TO THE WARD". That really is just a clusterfuck.

She's a support.
Please remind me how Riven is squishy. She builds only AD, she must drop like a fly and have 0 «survivability».
Oh wait, your kit can create links between offense and defense :o

riven does drop like a fly when you build AD. which is why she doesn't get played too much in competitive play anymore. she just drop instantly with good focus fire.

Pointless, because even if it were killable, the Nexus Obelisk does way more damage than the fountain in DotA, especially since, IIRC, it does % max HP damage.
Plus Riot would never implement something that exists solely for the purpose of griefing the other team.
Related aside, I thought the best part about this week was the absolutely hilariously facepalm-worthy bonus clip.
