Cause I know imma go 50-50 most the time and that means now I' down 7 elo or 8 elo for 2 games.

whatwhatanut you seriously have no clue how matchmaking works (it tries to put you into games where you are 50/50 to win) and it sounds like you're actually QQing about matchmaking in general more than the issue of +/- 6 elo instead of +/- 12
i think numbers is just suffering from a bad case of TMSQ (too much solo q) syndrome...i've been experiencing it a lot lately as well

Of course, since it's +/- 6 Elo and +/- 12 Elo, this evens out anyway.

I agree with you man. I can carry alot of games if my team doesn't go full retard and feed every lane, but those are few and far between. Most games I do above average and win my lane, not enough to hyper carry of course all the time but just average imo. Thats why elo hell exists.
If you're an average player, not feeding, not hyper-carrying, just doing your job correctly and holding your ground you will not rise in elo. You're simply in the hands of the 4 strangers on your team and hope that between them they don't collectively feed the game out of your hands. Odds are in solo Q that your team will feed and you will lose, it's simply a fact I've grown acustomed too over my 300games in ranked.
Started ranked with no knowledge at lvl30, had a high of 1468 and a low of 900. I don't understand how a system can so consistently give you huge winning and losing streaks with no sign of them stopping. It's kinda like gambling, Q for ranked, hope for jackpot teamates and not dueces all around. Currently happy on a 6game win streak to put me within a win away of breaking my top rating. I have no expectations other than that my streak will end and at anytime I'll jump on a massive lose streak and tank 100-200pts in a week even if I never feed in any game.

The system doesn't. Your own play and mentality going into the game is what causes such variability.

Not sure why that's referred to as "elo hell" there. It's pretty much where you belong if you're playing average. Nothing exceptional but nothing too bad either. You have to realize that laddering and grinding games is more or less a game of averages. Unless you are much more exceptional than your competition where you can win lane and make plays, you're not going to consistently win enough elo to rise higher.
|
its not the system. In starcraft you're all alone so the outcome of your game is your own sole responsibility. In league you have 4 others on your team; 5 on the opposite team.
Match-making can only account for the numerical mathematical algorithms. It can't take in account when one of your teammate decides to derp/feed/disconnect, is having a bad game, feels like being a douche whatever.

So I have around 4k ip saved up, should I keep saving up for Rumble? or that new champ?

See if you like her by watching the spotlight and all the people that will be playing her. If you do then buy her, otherwise you can always buy rumble.

Anyone else noticed this in the Fiora, revealed article?
Being a melee carry is no longer a boy’s club I'm guessing they have short term memory on when they released riven? :O

If you don't hyper carry, and just hold your lane, only going a few cs above or below your opponent then yes you are at the mercy of your allies. Chances are there are inconsistent allies on your team that play a style where they are overaggressive but mechanically sound so they may win some games and carry hard and some games feed really hard. You'll also get people who engage in 3v5's under tower after going 12-1 in lane. It's not that these guys are worse than you, it's that they're just more inconsistent.
Yes I do feel like games are too much of a lottery with all the random dcers and troll leavers. Elo drops and rises with your rating and it feels like you're at a roulette table hoping to win your elo back. But overall the system is fair, if as you've stated, inconsistent.

I wish I had most of my games where all the lanes were just even. It's always a triple feed fest which almost always ends in a game loss. Nothing you can do from the jungle when all your lanes lose against their lane opponents with not a gank from their jungler.
edit: also watching dyrus play poppy is so nice. I think she might still be my most played from S1, and there might still exist my post from the very first general discussion about whoever mentioned poppy and got me to start playing her. I've played one game with her this season, which I did poorly in but still won because my team raped. I was against panth, and because his q doing like 30 damage to me wasn't enough, he leveled E lol, which made him completely worthless in the few teamfights but he did quite a bit of damage to me in lane. I always liked poppy, hopefully I can play her again.

trynd, riven and poppy are like the only melees that work with building for pure AD, oh well and panth/talon, but those are casters.

And riven doesn't work building pure AD?

Poppy clearly isn't a melee carry though, she's an assassin.
Also I think it's silly to choose between rumble and the new champ, they are completely different. Do you even like playing Yi, Tryndamere, maybe Renekton? I think you should just go with Rumble if you like him. The new champ seems like a solo top/jungler melee fighter, and it seems like she's going to be built standard as a bruiser just like about 50 more champions.

Oh, this is what we call a carry :D

what?
Poppy is good at bursting one person down. She can get more kills, but so can akali.
Akali snowballs and quadras every teamfight, but she's carry and not an assassin? Bullshit.
Carry = lots of damage Assassin = good at killing squishies Poppies damage isn't that great, otherwise she'd beat bruisers in 1v1's, which she doesn't. In the same way akali doesn't, unless they are fed.
