Carry is basically a champion who gets better with more items and can effectively carry a team, I wouldn't count cass as a carry(semicarry imo), nor Malphite(initiator), but I would definitely count irelia as a carry because she can basically 1v5 after getting ahead/fed. Ranged DPS I'd call all of them carries except Caitlyn and Kennen, who I'd call semicarries.

Tryndamere I count a carry, the old Jax as well. Current one I'm not sure about.

Nocturne is a ganker, amumu is an initiator(only secondarily a tank).


This also is just the primary role. On some champions, you can actually choose your role up to a certain extent. For instance you can play a Skarner in jungle with Shurelyas as a supportive initiator, or go toplane and go with Trinity Force to become a tanky sustained DPS. You can play taric as botlane support, or solo mid with him and become an aggressive ganker. You can even build DPS with Taric and become a melee DPS. Even though this isn't optimal, this is still going to be the role you have.

To be honest, you shouldn't call specific champions carries. You should only call combinations of builds/playstyles and champions carries.

I've played Swane, Lee Sin (Jungle), Fizz, and Caitlyn during free-week periods also. If it helps the suggestions at all, my runes are a work in progress but I currently have:
Mark: AD/MP
Seal:AR
Glyph:AP/MR
Quint: AD
