I was wondering if there is a particular guide I should be looking at, im browsing solomid is that a good site?
Also is there an equivalent of TL for LoL (I doubt there's an equivalent to tl for most any game out there)

Regarding the 'fixed metagame' - I think that riot tries to make sure that newer releases can fit into the current metagame so people will actually play them, and I think thats fine. I don't think its some conspiracy to enforce the metagame but rather riot reacting to what players are doing. Look at, say, Fizz or Talon - they do work inside the metagame but not cleanly. Fizz especially, they even classify him as a fighter/assassin rather than as a mage. Also I think that the metagame doesn't evolve so much because the focus is solo queue, rather than team games - and that's a result of the player base more than anything riot is doing. In solo queue a 'standard' metagame works because then everyone knows what to expect and what is expected of them, which is required since its 5 strangers (usually). This has gotten kinda long but I'm sick and tired of people harping about the 'static metagame' and of people getting pissy at riot for everything they do. The metagame exists for a reason - and if you look at tournaments its not nearly as fixed as people make it out to be. As for criticisms of riot, yeah sometimes they're valid, but sometimes it feels to me like people are upset riot isn't staffed by weird amalgams of Socrates, da Vinci and Jesus. Perfect game design is hard, yo. Having just played Poppy last night (you know, that super old champ who has literally never been changed) that this is the case. Holy hell late game Poppy is strong... Like... ridiculously stupidly strong. I actually think thats why DoubleLift is so bad at like map awareness. "Four opponents? Only me? Trololololol ultikgburst->two dead and poppy gets away with her life."

Silly riven nerf imo. Such tiny tiny tiny changes to her passive sustain will be barely noticeable. Her damage is unchanged and she'll still be able to wololo most people out of lane super early. Once she gets wriggles and/or a few dorans no one will miss the hp5 "nerf". RIP ap mid shaco T_T;;; sad day for pandas everywhere.

Trololololol ultikgburst->two dead and poppy gets away with her life." When you watch Doublelift play, you can see Poppy/Blitz influencing a lot of what he does. It's not quite as noticeable now since he has CLG teaching him. But during his time on Curse, it was incredibly striking how bad a lot of his plays were (especially his Cait positioning) and you could really see his Blitzcrank mentality behind a lot of those plays. Their Rampage King of the Hill game against Dignitas is a great example during one of their jungle fights where his Blitz style play led to his team getting aced.
