[Patch 1.0.0.131: Ahri] General Discussion - Page 34

Want to rage about your latest loss? Use the QQ thread. If you whine in GD, you'll get warned. ===== + Show Spoiler + If your [Stream] thread was moved to the general TL Stream subforum (aka SC stream land), find your thread and PM it to me and I'll move it back to LoL territory. I can argue with staff that moving a non-SC thread into a SC subforum is just asking for that thread to get buried. - Neo, Dec. 15 2011, 6:33 KST I have admin approval. I'll be moving LoL streams back to the subforum. Stream name will be based on Summoner name. - Neo 7:07 KST

Basically, I had never understood the appeal of replays in LoL until yesterday. I was always like, "Ya, Replays good for esports. Whatever." I just felt like with the constantly changing Meta, tutorial type videos just get outdated too fast. For example, Regi has made some awesome Shaco Jungling videos that are not even close to viable anymore due to all the changes to the champ and the jungle. But as I was browsing streams, I realized that if the streamer wasn't playing a champ I liked, the stream was boring and I didn't want to watch. Then I thought "How cool would it be to just search for good players, playing champs I like or am trying to learn." That is about the time I realized how great replays would be for LoL. So I've seen a couple different names of programs mentioned here on the forums. Can anyone break down pro's and con's for me? Is there a standard? One that works the best? Also, what about libraries of replays. Is there someplace I can go to download Regi's recent games? TL;DR Tell me about replays.

I'm not sure if there are any other programs, but it just went under some nice UI changes recently. The downside is you can only see health bars for where you were currently looking in the game, so it's a bit buggy. I'm really looking forward to drop-in spectating games though. There have been so many times I've been waiting for a friend and want to watch in on how their game is going. Hopefully that's coming soon.

I'm pretty sure replays are going to be added relatively soon after drop-in spectating is added. So you might just have to wait. edit: iirc, CLG's site has LOLReplays you can download but I dunno if they're high level players or not. From what I remember, if they still even have that feature, anyone can upload replays so you never know what you're gonna get if you download one from there.

The health bar "bug" in LOLReplay has to do with the fact that it's all based on what data your client received (actually, what data your client displayed to you) over the course of the game. If you aren't looking at something, the server doesn't bother sending you info on the health bars. It's a hackjob, because we have no real replay system yet, but it's a well-made hackjob that Riot has checked up on and said "yah this is fine and also doesn't keylog you"

But yeah, the program does very well with what resources it has available, especially considering it's a completely 3rd party program.

Balance team has nothing to do with the programmers/development of new features. But it should come out soon. Didn't Moonbear say they *wanted* it to come out with season 2? They normally don't announce stuff officially anymore unless it's actually going to come out within the next 1-2 months. Since the whole community essentially shit talked them for the past 2 years because they thought "hey we want to make a replay system eventually!" and everyone was like "FUCK YOU RIOT, WHY YOU NO GIVE IT TO US YET?!" I know if any of my programmer friends had to work with adobe air for everything Riot has already done for the game they'd probably have killed themselves by now lol. And dominion was released about 1-2 after announced, wasn't it?

I meant, of course, that I thought "mini-ignite" was probably not that strong of a guess for what their hopes for that item are/were.

I mean they could have spend the engineering time making a replay system instead of a new map; yes I was being sarcastic, but do you honestly think people are going to want to watch dominion as much as they're watching games of sr? I absolutely don't think it's going to become big. But is it fun to play when you're sick of getting trolled in solo q? Damn straight it is. They need to come out with replays, it's true. But dear god, whining about it isn't going to make it happen any faster.

Only Marcou has pretty much come out and said Riot doesnt give a shit about replays and thinks that they dont actually need it.

Or is this how it's always been done? I thought I heard Halloween runes last year were ~10% weaker and half price.

I misread it as "50 damage to target" and I missed the "area" part. lol So ignite just came to mind cause itemizing some summoners would be pretty cool to me. D:
