Want to rage about your latest loss? Use the QQ thread. If you whine in GD, you'll get warned. ===== + Show Spoiler +If your [Stream] thread was moved to the general TL Stream subforum (aka SC stream land), find your thread and PM it to me and I'll move it back to LoL territory. I can argue with staff that moving a non-SC thread into a SC subforum is just asking for that thread to get buried.
- Neo, Dec. 15 2011, 6:33 KST I have admin approval. I'll be moving LoL streams back to the subforum. Stream name will be based on Summoner name. - Neo 7:07 KST |
So Riot released stats for the tribunal here : http://riot-web-static.s3.amazonaws.com/images/news/December_2011/2011_12_16_tribunal/Infographic_Tribunal.jpg
The fact that 94% of the cases end up being punished is kinda worrying imo, means that most people just autovote Punish which breaks the point of the tribunal, since if you just get reported by enough raging kiddo for no reason you end up having 94% chances getting a warning/ban...
Also the "Offenders make bad teammates" and "Offenders lose games" seems a bit skewed since a losing team is more prone to rage and report, and enemy team is more prone to not giving a shit about a troll in the opposing team, making them win.
|
A riot employee always reviews the case in the end, might just be that 94% of the reports are actually legitimate reports. Losing a game is no excuse to vent at anyone ingame, deserves a ban. Most of the time when people start raging they spend their time flaming instead of actually playing, basically being afk and losing the game because they're not playing whereas if they would just play you might end up winning.

Heh, I never got warned/banned and very rarely rage in-game, but the number of times I've been threatened to get reported for "Intentionnal Feeding" or other stuff because I had a bad game or some kid doesn't understand that 0/5/23 on a support is not "feeding" worries me a bit.

You won't get banned for being 0/5/23, you won't even get banned for being 0/7/0, you might get banned for being 0/12/2 in a 20min game though.

You know when people get banned for feeding?
When you buy 6 boots and go 0-10, or say "Screw this, I'm feeding".. Anything else, you tend to get pardoned.
Reading the tribunal is so depressing. I havn't gone back after a week when my report was from a clearly new player being reported for feeding intermediate bots. Yes, people actually reported a feeder against bots. That one was depressing.

Huehue xcept bots don't use gold, they gain their items by time gone in the match, so doesn't really matter if someone dies to them or not.
and i have no problem believing those numbers. seem quite spot on according to what I got to vote on in a 3 week period.
|
Bots get items whether they are 50-0 or 0-50. You cannot do anything to change their items, so only their levels are effected. Yes, a level 14 Annie is scary. So is level 11.
In addition, a new player facing intermediate bots? They may die. A lot. Feeding bots has so little impact on a game, the people reporting are trolling more than a person intentionally dying to bots, let alone a new player who has never dealt with Annie Bot having 1.5k burst.

Have you ever voted in the tribunal? It IS pretty much auto-punish, from my experience. 94% sounds about right for the percentage of cases that are a guy genuinely being a dick in some way. The tribunal is more to weed out the very few cases that involve someone who's just inexperienced, but the 'report' function is usually pretty self-selective.
My suspicion is that reports expire, so players who get reported maybe once a month by trolls will never actually see the tribunal.
Edit: also, annie bot OP.

i did my first tribunal a few days ago and i found the vast majority of cases i was pardoning. most of them were about rudeness, but i found the people reporting them to of been either more rude, or rude first. the ones about feeding i only punished if it was some mass ward no items play. 90% of people reported for feeding were like 2/7/7 thats not so bad in a game you are losing anyway, if you are behind and the other team is better its not your fault if you die more than you would.

Just tried Huehuekaizer, HP/5 Quints, 21/9/0 with Vigor and 5 flat MR Glyphs. Constantly taking wraiths seems to constantly put me ahead of the enemy mid laner by a LARGE margin. Essentially, it's about an additional wave every 1 1/2 minutes or so. I had Sorcs, a Revolver and my Rylai's at 16 minutes. Wow, that's nasty.

The tribunal is a joke. I've been banned a fair share of times and sometimes it has been justified, like my previous ban was. But this time it wasn't justified in the slightest. After a day of losing and listening to clueless people going on about how much elo hell sucks and how it was never their fault and how everything is soooo unfair Q_Q Q_Q Q_Q. I decided to just start telling the truth. I didn't call people retards or names I simply called out the truth and I did it bluntly.
and things like "I told you not to go bot, they would do baron and that forced fiddle to suicide trying to steal it then letting them push two inhibs. You lost us the game right there" which is the truth, it's not a very nice thing to say cause people hate to be called out but it was the truth.
Or when people top overextend like crazy and then rip the jungler for not warding their lane or ganking it, telling them that the junglers last concern is top ect ect. Often this lead to people just cursing like mad at me cause they can be the nicest people on the planet, but if you call out their bad plays they will turn on you.
And ofcourse I would call out my own bad plays aswell, if I was the one that caused a loss I would say so or if I did something retarded. This really got people going.
I checked the summoners code and there is nothing that went against it yet I was banned cause I was reported over and over again by super butthurt people that can't take being called out and hence will never ever be decent at this game.
But it really shows how bad the tribunal is. I didn't get banned for breaking rules, I got banned because the people that operate the tribunal is the same people that are terrible players that will never be able to be called out.

you should consider sending this in a ticket to see if a rioter would look over the case again. that'd be really unfortunate if this was all that happened though, because people need to learn to look at themselves and their shortcomings before they can improve

The line between criticism and insults is sometimes thin and the tribunal is made to make a community judgement for these cases. A good guideline is considereing if whatever you say will improve said players performance in any way. There is no point in yelling at people how bad they are, no matter how true it is.

Its like any voting system - it has its flaws & there are cases where people get punished when they shouldn't. But the concept itself isn't bad. And imo if we feel that the tribunal isn't doing its job well enough its more of a reason for us to start voting in it ourselves when we can. if the good level-headed members of the community won't vote in it THEN tribunal is useless - but then we can't say its the system's fault because its just a tool for the players to decide what should be a punishable offence. Its like the situation in india - half the educated people whine about the bad politicians but when elections role in they don't actually go to cast their votes.

Haven't we gone through all this before and concluded that Tribunal doesn't ban anyone, it takes a Riot employee to actually ban you, not the people pushing punish for 5 ip.
