Like I personally like Saintvicious' stream, for pretty much all the reasons riot will NEVER spotlight it. You start getting into a whole big debate over who really should be the face of the game, and maybe the ones riot wants to be the heroes arent actually the ones who DESERVE to be spotlighted. I can EASILY make an argument that HSGG is the single most important streamer in LoL and singlehandedly built the current lol scene. Yet he probably will not get a spotlight. How is that equitable. Riot is paying shushei, but not HSGG. And I dont even LIKE to watch HS, but its obvious the effect he has had. The system arbitrary and stupid.
I just think its kind of grimy for them to pay players, but through an intermediary, in a completely arbitrary way. I don't see why it's bad that it's highly subjective. It's not like they need to publish their criteria for streamers to meet before they get featured.
Why would Hotshot deserve to be featured? He's an important streamer, but maybe not the type of player that Riot wants to raise as an example. After all, they have a Summoner's Code saying what kind of players they want in the game.

We're working with a "banking" system that has the big mobs in jungle camps build XP and gold rewards over time after being there for a bit (currently, one minute). This caps out after a certain amount of time as well, and while farming heavily is greater than waiting for the bank to build, the bank lessens the need to constantly farm to keep up.
Why this system?
* It rewards ganks and is a bit less punishing on gank attempts that don't result in kills for the jungler. After a gank attempt, the jungler can clear the jungle which has scaled a little bit while they were ganking.
* Smart counter-junglers can watch enemy gank patterns, then kill the big monster to steal the bank that's built and reset it. This adds additional value to counter-jungling in the new jungle on the efficiency side. This will encourage more jungler conflict as well as add tons of opportunities for great counter-junglers to pull ahead.
* It allows junglers to farm and catch up a little better if they fall behind early (Of course, enemies can continue to disrupt this and push the advantage as needed), but the option is there, which creates new strategic options for coming back.
There's a few other changes too, but this is the mechanics-level one we're testing right now. While I encourage feedback, I'm excited to see people try this out (if it continues testing well). Interesting, and yet it doesn't really feel like a bandaid. I dig the change, but honestly prefered the way the jungle was before this though that's just crying over spilt milk at this point. Thoughts from other junglers? Link: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=17938707#post17938707
This is pretty good change, I really like it. It really helps the way I've been playing since the recent patch where I get to level 4 with double buffs and then just go gank a lot.

I don't see a problem with the featured streamer at all, Riot is trying to promote their game and their competitive scene, awesome!.. At the end of the day, you have a business and you need people with a good image to promote your business, It's pretty obvious as entertaining as SV and Hotshot might be they are not the desired image that Riot wants out there. Some people are easier to put out in front of the public, you see this with any game that is an e-sport..

the problem is that is RIOT doing everything these days, in other esports such as sc2 is not blizzard doing everything, they have a hands off approach and let the community and tournaments build themselves a sustainable environment, while riot has their hands in everything, which is good short term, but bad long term.

Frankly they only need it to last a few years.

That's because LoL is a new scene, and Riot is really trying to push the esports side. You're making it sound like Riot is trying to control everything, but the reason Riot is involved in most of the LoL esports stuff is because they try harder to promote it than Blizzard so they're naturally more involved. It's not some sort of Riot conspiracy.

number one rule of LoL "friends":
their ranking is higher than yours : you deserve your ranking, get better your ranking is higher than theirs : you dont deserve your ranking, you're just lucky
real.
the one person I could reliably duo queue with got kicked out of his house and now I have to put up with a bunch of jokers. life's cool. Im speculating on the first one, as all of my friends are garbage. mostly going off Riot forums (trololololol)

What's wrong with Riot pushing it's stuff? It's not bad, hell I'd love it if more companies did it. Blizzard could do some excellent crossover stuff if they just did something like post a "HERES SOME sc2 tourny"link in the wow launcher/b.net launcher stuffs. Heck not to even get me started on the many companies who just outright refuse to do anything for the game if it involves esports. It's not like they are exploiting anything, just promotion of good players. If that's bad call me Doctor Forester because I want to be evil.

because riot cant do this forever. 1 day the teemo skin sales are going to dry up. if the community cant sustain itself then either you wont get anything or the quality of content will drop down. the lol scene needs to be weaned off riots money slowly if it can be, then it has a chance to survive in the long term.

I turned on rain man's stream and heard "fuck," "dude," and "bro" about 30 times in two minutes and turned it off. How does he have 5k viewers? How do people watch that? Honestly I feel like a big reason I stopped playing recently is because I'm just fed up with the top elo scene. So many of the well known players are shitty fucking examples of how to compose yourself when you play this game it makes me disgusted. I really thought when I started streaming that I could get a significant number of viewers simply by not being a fucking douche, but I'm so disillusioned right now that I can't even bring myself to stream or play. What an embarrassment.

But we love you! You're stream was the last single glimmering hope of human rational above 1950. Everyone else is a numbers robot.

Well there is always GuardsmanBob who is always held as the shining example of well mannered LoL streaming.
