Oh no im so shocked. Blizzard wants you to spend money on their game. Do you guys really have that many problems with that? Did you ever played any other MOBA? In EVERY fuckin MOBA you essentially have an advantage with owning all heroes. In DotA 2 you gain straight access to all the 100+ heroes and theres no runes etc. There's absolutely nothing you can buy with real money that would gain you any advantage, no heroes no +0.1% damage, nothing. Yet valve manages to make a shit ton of money just out of cosmetic items and other fun stuff. That is because 99% of DOTA2 cosmetics (bar Arcanas) are community-driven (Steam workshop >>>>> SCII editor) whereas Blizz needs to spend incredible amount of resources on making new cosmetics thus driving up their prices. Blizzard could do the same if they wanted. They have a map editor and code for a RMAH.
But again, making HotS not pay to win requires no change to the business model.

Ass-backwards.
I have far fewer hours than you in DOTA2 and cross-team trash talk was constant. Mostly provoked by someone on your own team explaining to the opposing team how terrible someone on your team is and how this loss is in no way his fault.

...I have been guilty of this.

I thought you were done with this game. Why are you still posting?

I think their idea is there is really no benefit to global chat but there are drawbacks to it. The amount of times allchat has been toxic compared to the amount of times it was beneficial is overwhelmingly in favor of the toxic side.

I think doing a combination of the Dota2 chat wheel and Hearthstone emote concepts would be great for HotS all-chat. Honestly the lack of chat between opponents is such a great design decision in HS. So do something like that. No need to be completely mute.

Yeh this was my same impression as well. I actually think most chats I have had with my chat in League has been kinda funny. Like one guy ask me how much HP I have after a battle, and I answer that I have like 5 HP, and he says "so lucky" and I get a bit of a smile on my face.
All kind of conversations you have with the enemy are at worst "friendly" taunting while conversations with allies has a much higher frequency of insults.

The game does have a chat wheel that is pretty much hearthstone emotes, so far they can't be edited. It works well enough to be cheeky and rub some salt into their wounds after a team wipe, and that's really enough for me.

By the way I don't know exactly when it starts but Blizzcon HotS GF is starting "soon" http://www.twitch.tv/blizzheroes

A five minute countdown was just added.
Countdown to the preshow apparently

EG and C9 just took the stage for one of these always-awkward segments.

OK there are players sitting at computers with headsets on I think the match is about to start.

I hate this deathball rat ultra-lategame push turtle meta. Blizzard please.

EG vs C9 live right now.
C9 says: "We outdrafted our opponents".
Yet we have people with their head in the sand denying that picks matter, in denial that having more heroes to pick more gives you an advantage.
If there's no advantage, then why did C9 say: "We outdrafted our opponents".
Had C9 been playing with a limited hero pool, outside of the fair tournament environment, and if they didn't pay as much real money as EG to buy heroes, then they couldn't say "We outdrafted our opponents", if they didn't pay enough real money to buy the right heroes to deal with the opponent's pick. Pay to win.
Now this doesn't mean that C9 will necessarily win the game, because no game literally lets you win by paying more real money, no game literally sells a a button that ends the game with "Victory", but it does give them an advantage, that makes it easier for them to win. That's what pay to win means.
Update: C9 steamrolled EG in that game. Commentators reiterate they outdrafted EG after the end of the game.

kinda confusing that right commentator guy says liquid instead of c9 9/10 times :/

Watching this at BlizzCon only makes me wonder when I will finally get my Alpha invite >.<

Interesting esports aspect of the map symmetry (and it being over Y axis) you can just leave left/right teams on their respective side, so more obvious to a live audience. It's a minor thing but useful for a game that wants to appeal to non-moba-players.

Is it always like this where 3v1 ganks can't kill 1 person? Seems really easy to survive ganks in HOTS
