And while I feel it's not controversial at all to say Hearthstone has a lower skill cap than pretty much any popular esport I have supported the game and esport, played it, watched many hours, mod for about half of Tempo Storm on their Twitch channels. Modded for Chanman for the purpose of modding competitions that take place in his channel. I just don't shy from speaking of things in such terms. I say it's pathetic because he could, right now, be involved with the existing, robust scenes in League or Dota where the talent is but he has chosen this. I stand by that. I also want to see HotS succeed as a game and an esport but that doesn't change my opinion at all. Shit just is how it is. If it changes, great. You're not criticizing a game, you are criticizing someone's choice. So, the opinion card doesn't work here. It doesn't matter what type of irrelevant experience you have. You are not Idra.

Wrong, discussing a person's decisions is 100% valid. I'm not sure on what planet you live that it is not. Exact same thing was said about DotA 2 when it first started (weak players jumping in before the DotA 1 teams could show up), and SC2 (Proleague dropouts looking for easy wins). Skill level grows as the scene and the game grows, and someone has to be the early adopter to start the scene up first. Fair enough. Maybe he sees a future in it that I don't. I expect the competition to be mediocre over a fairly long horizon. I would think people moving over to Dota2 as early adopters had a good reason to believe the competitive scene would thrive but it was certainly a gamble. Is for Idra as well. Who knows what he really thinks.

Who knows what he really thinks. Well...he did an interview...and it was even linked for you. Basic gist of it is that he's going to university, he tried out HotS because he got a key, found it more fun than he expected, made a team with people he knew, and then they wanted to try taking it seriously.

Blizzard has stated they don't want to get involved in e-sports themselves when it comes to HotS. They've made the same statement for Hearthstone, yet it has become a big e-sport. The community will make it happen for HotS as it did for HS. It's how it began, you know. WC3 was a super fun, people loved competing on it, and competitions like WCG, ESWC, Zotac and more sprouted from that. Let the community - and the organizations - take care of that stuff, and just focus on having fun. It's an alpha. Now, to change the topic: I am getting a bit tired of Tychus. Whether he is on the weekly rotation or not, I feel like I see him EVERY SINGLE game. Can't people play something else?! ![]()

Idra thinks the game is worth his time and he is apparently having a lot of fun with it. As someone that found Idra's behavior in SC2 discouraging, it's refreshing to see a glimmer of the old, not-so-self-hating Idra. What exactly is pathetic about playing a video-game, having fun, and seeing where it takes you? That's his perspective. It might be yours that people should only invest their talent in games with a high strategical and mechanical demand that have highly established and competitive professional scenes. Idra was forcing himself to play SC2 for a while and that wasn't working for him. All that might not even be right. But, he has his reasons for his decisions that I doubt you know. Calling his choice pathetic with no basis or understanding of his perspective is the only thing pathetic here. Hence why I say it's pretty pointless and irrelevant to crap on Idra.

more action throughout the game Needs to make good/correct decision Volitale game. You can be behind in the game because early clash was a big loss and you loses lane control. But you won't be behind so much that you can't come back. Sometimes you can ride of momentum and just be on equal footing again. Short game length also means that you cannot really learn to work with eachother imo if you are doing solo queue. No way to discuss your hero pick with your teammate at all.

It was directed at you. Might want to stop posting and continuing to embarrass yourself further. Why would you question my decisions like that, you don't know me or what motivates me, who are you, Captain Analyze Other People? What gives you the right to judge my actions Well...he did an interview...and it was even linked for you. Basic gist of it is that he's going to university, he tried out HotS because he got a key, found it more fun than he expected, made a team with people he knew, and then they wanted to try taking it seriously. But, he has his reasons for his decisions that I doubt you know. Yeah see there are interviews and then there's knowing what a person is thinking and some people recognize this. It might be yours that people should only invest their talent in games with a high strategical and mechanical demand that have highly established and competitive professional scenes. No, not at all. People play World of Tanks competitively with like 17 people watching, it's fine. Idra, specifically, is going from being a big name in a scene so competitive the top players are beyond the comprehension of even highly competent gamers to a scene with huge question marks attached. Competitively it's a huge step down. For me I look at him as a fallen professional and from that perspective it's pretty sad, "pathetic" if you will, but if you are looking at him as a person it's an entirely different discussion. He's not, like, the most well-liked dude in the world so how much empathy people have for his humanity will vary greatly. In any case I have said my piece and explained it pretty thoroughly; if you want to continue on with the "how dare you besmirch Idra-sama" nonsense continue on without me.

Will there be an "all heroes" mode? Or will it be a straight up copy of the LoL model where you have to buy new heroes even for competitive play?

Right, but if you're playing at a high enough level to be playing in tournaments, you have probably played long enough to have unlocked most heroes. At least that's how Riot justifies their model? Unless League has a tournament mode that I'm not aware of

There was also 'he returns' so yeah, IdrA and LZ's team. I'm just curious if it's only a temporary thing for Blizzcon or if they're officially acquired for now.
