Today I feel extraordinarily retarded. After two weeks of non-stop checking my battle.net account page, I decided to check my email. Now, I don't usually check the email address assigned to my b.net account since I've had it for like 10 years and it generates a lot of spam. Well buried under two weeks of spam was a newsletter with links to battle.net etc etc... I'm like: "lol... been checking for days, must be a scam." Well I was about to delete it when I noticed there was a game key.
Turns out I was in the beta since the 16th and didn't notice :\ i feel so much jealousy right now. Don't. It's just closed beta, and while we all want access there is not a need to fret over it Pretty much this. This is the standard friends and family session, just with lots of plugs from streams. Either way, with how the servers went after they handed out the ones they did tonight. I think open beta is still weeks away. This isn't just friends and family, I got a beta invite a week ago and I am in no way affiliated with Blizzard, nor am I a popular streamer. You can't be trusted. Obvious blizzard employee.

And yea ... sameboat. No Key on NA accounts (

Doesn't that just defeat the purpose of wanting to attract a new player base to the game? Not saying your not correct, but might as well say, only people with blizzard games can opt in to this beta.

No, you don't do betas to attract new players, you do them to test stuff, and if you want promotion, you hand out betas to streamers with a decent amount of viewers.

if "new" ppl want into the beta so badly that they create multiple accounts, they are already attracted to the game
|
i'd imagine they get quiet a nice revenue from all the people frantically checking their accounts and inadvertently resubscribing to crack WoW.

You obviously don't understand long proven advertizing techniques...

Just look at it this way -- being in the beta will be a waste of time and effort anyway since you won't be keeping your cards.

Yep. Just gotta keep repeating this over and over.

Reddit is revolting right now by not watching streams, opting out of all giveaways, and unfollowing all because of no beta-keys. Gamers can be so desperate.

Higher chances for the poeple that aren't stupid.

They do have a point though, that giving multiple keys to internet semi-celebreties - now asking to lick their feet for a key - is a bad thing to distribute the keys. I don't get why Blizzard sends keys around instead of simply attaching them to accounts, like they have done before.

Yep. Some of these streamers aren't even that popular. Be a girl, stream 2-3 hours a day, have enough viewers for free beta keys. Reckful was probably 90% of WoW's popularity as it was. Then I'm talking to my old arena mates, and people with incredible in-game achievements are getting totally shafted. Seems legit.
