"Go ahead, remove it." "No, it will bleed a lot." "It's fine." "You need gloves." "Just take it off." (I take it off) "SHit I need gloves."
rofl, epic story, loved that part in particular.

I have at least 10 friends who could do it for me if I needed to. pre-med
big difference.

Hahahahahahaa. You're a great writer, and an absolute idiot.
In all honesty, thanks for the story! I'll keep you in mind the next time I have an urge to chop off any part of my body.

- thanks a lot man, that was hilarous, laughed much, plus I had a similar personal experience except that it was worse and I actually knew what was I was doing. I still laugh about it today.
btw advice for everyone - a lot of sudden hemagiomas dissapear on their own (in fact most do) - the phukcers ALWAYS bleed a LOT if u mess with them - some are deep, i.e. they can go down half an inch or more into ur skin (specially the big purple ones - think of an iceberg, ur only looking at the tip sometimes lol) - never mess with facial hemangiomas - some are may not hemangiomas, but melanomas that look like hemangiomas, in which case self treatment ends up being = suicide due to late treatment - house hold shit u can use to stop minor skin bleeding = deodorant - most of them contain alluminium salts (esp alluminium chloride) that are kick ass hemostatic agents - of course sustained pressure is also needed, use non stick dressing afterwards

antiperspirants contain aluminum salts right? (or at least more than normal deodorants)

Hahah, glad I'm getting some interesting feedback on my heroic/stupid actions.
I figure that when I do finally become a full-fledged MD, I can tell this story to patients who are contemplating doing something like this themselves.
It really would have been nice to know that deodorant had anticoagulants in it, I didn't know it had AlCl.
Another update on the wound...
Took off the bandage yesterday, and my skin is irritated a fuckton from so many bandages. The lady must have applied ten of them, 3 inches thick and 10 inches long, in a crosstitch pattern of a rhinoceros. I've had to use alcohol to dissolve the glue because it's so thick on my skin and it won't come off, and some glue near the hemangioma won't come off until I think it's safe to scrub it.
So the end result to the hemangioma, at the present time, is that it is now the size of your average mole, if not a bit smaller, and is now flush with the surface of my skin. Must have gone deeper than I thought, but at least it isn't as big (probably now 1/6 of its former godzillaesque size).
So for -2 units of blood -$10 medical supplies -$20 copay -1 gallon of gas -1 pissed off girlfriend -10 scoops of poor judgement
You can get a reduced-sized hemangioma!
I guess it beats the price of a surgery for complete removal, because they usually consider it a "cosmetic" surgery. I'm going to tell them this story and convince them that it is life-threatening so it gets removed using my insurance. Dude, I almost bled out on this thing...
I would post pictures but I do not have a digital camera, ever since I broke it while at a party (beer spray owns digital cameras).

Really now, is that safe? I suppose if the bleeding is life threatening, then yes. But to put very soluble aluminum chloride into the bloodstream is something I would not be willing to do. It's not going to get excreted, probably bioaccumulate somewhere.

The entire time I read the OP, all I could think of was super glue. Always fixed my bleeding problems.

Yeah, I was very hesitant to use any sort of "ghetto" coagulant, although if I had lost another unit of blood and was near passing out I might have just done that.
I was counting on the walgreens having styptic if I couldn't stop the bleeding, but they apparently don't like to sell that at many locations anymore.
I actually thought about superglue for some time, but I kept thinking about the infection I could get if the wound wasn't sterile enough and the glue trapped in bacteria. And then how would you remove the superglue once you were done? Order the solvent from the back of the bottle and hope it wouldn't fuck up your skin or be too toxic? Meh....
Plus I wasn't liking the idea of an infection on my chest, so close to my heart and lungs (as someone mentioned earlier here). That is also why I endured multiple IPA scrubbings.
Got some styptic now and I'll be keeping it close. I'm really surprised that Silver Nitrate is prescription only, but then again stupid people might eat it (from my understanding it's usually prepared with some KCl in it, which ingested in high quantities kind of stops your heart...). Plus it tattoos your skin to a slight extent.
