Yeah, I was very hesitant to use any sort of "ghetto" coagulant, although if I had lost another unit of blood and was near passing out I might have just done that.
I was counting on the walgreens having styptic if I couldn't stop the bleeding, but they apparently don't like to sell that at many locations anymore.
I actually thought about superglue for some time, but I kept thinking about the infection I could get if the wound wasn't sterile enough and the glue trapped in bacteria. And then how would you remove the superglue once you were done? Order the solvent from the back of the bottle and hope it wouldn't fuck up your skin or be too toxic? Meh....
Plus I wasn't liking the idea of an infection on my chest, so close to my heart and lungs (as someone mentioned earlier here). That is also why I endured multiple IPA scrubbings.
Got some styptic now and I'll be keeping it close. I'm really surprised that Silver Nitrate is prescription only, but then again stupid people might eat it (from my understanding it's usually prepared with some KCl in it, which ingested in high quantities kind of stops your heart...). Plus it tattoos your skin to a slight extent.
