The only tests I've ever taken were online tests, and more or less I was always around 120. I never took a "professional" one tough, so I don't know if that's any accurate at all.

I made IQ test at inet like year ago, when there was a study here that what city is the smartest here. The rankings were different then here, but my result was above avarege, so i'll pick 110-119 here. Seems like we have few Einsteins here ...
These kinda polls suck, cause eventho its anoumous, ppl still lie on polls lol... sad.

210 + Show Spoiler +

Some third world countries are reported to have people with lower intelligence. Around 70 or less. Not because they have stupider people, because many of the people don't know how to read and write and do not engage in mentally stimulating activities because of long work and family.

Without using a number to define you, as sites like hotornot and ratemypic have shown people love, intelligence is actually the neural concentration in your brain. What do you think is genius? Awesome memory, good at puzzles, ability to read and go through tons of knowledge?

Most of what people perceive as genius is simply discipline, and obsession to ideals. Speed math? Yeah you can get speed math, and speed reading too. Find tricks to memorize and read about intelligence from a newscientist article.

Genius to me is the people who know what's really common and don't rely on others for validation and appreciation. People who act are rare, and people looking for some number, or norm to define them best are common. Neural concentration is correlated to stimulus. Use your brain more and have it become more active. It's that simple. Stimulate all 5 senses when you can and pay attention. Enrich yourself by learning mathematics and music theory, and local laws and rights so when things happen, you'll have a deeper understanding.

When a chessmaster plays a game, and a beginner plays a game of chess, it's the beginner that actually is shown thinking harder, because everything is foreign. It's not how much you practice but also what you practice. If it doesnt feel uncomfortable and complicated, it's likely using much less brain activity. Make things complicated, and look further.

The more familiarity you have with mathematics problems and the english language, the more you will increase your IQ, which invalidates the test to begin with. It's matter of effort and how much you can put into bettering yourself. Does your job really give you more skills everyday, or are you just in a cycle of busywork? Money is worth very little compared to time and intentions.

Schools don't teach mastery, they teach short term memorization so the students are prepared to do busy work jobs. They're a creation for mass population efficiency management, so kids can have a place to go for a good while while parents are at work.

If you ever get in an argument or start talking about intelligence, don't be all arrogant and prove your stupidity by throw out a number. Deh indernet says I smart at 155IQ!! der der den they try to sell me my score. Point to something you can do, your education, or some accomplishment. If I took a poll where people said honestly what their IQ is, the average would be 140. So if you're going to brag, say it's 210 or something, which would be equivalent of genius once the IQ has been adjusted up to fit the average bragger scale.

If at first you score low, try a different test. If you succeed tell your friends... and thus is the evolution of only the stupidest tests, getting popular.

According to some mensa test on their site and some other tests I found, one in swedens largest popular science magazine im around 125-135. Although the peak IQ most of those tests are able to show is like 130 or something so even if someone had 180 it would say 130 since there are no questions above that level I dont think im above 135 though. I wouldnt be supriced if the average IQ on TL is around 120 atleast. If its 100 in the whole population then maybe its 105-110 to people who use the internet a lot. And a community centered around a strategy game? plz... Half of the people here study some maths heavy subject at UNI XD

I did a doubtful online test 3 years ago and got 126. I think 115-120 would be more accurate.
100 is average (i.e. most people have 100).
"Above 130" with the most votes, come on... Above 130 is extremely rare.

http://mensa.dk/testiq.html

press "start testen" at the end
then calculate using 15 spread

while this isn't a professional test (as specified), it's the by far best internet test i have taken. I also took a test for the army where they didn't give us a specific iq, just a score from 1-9. (however I did hear that only 2% get 9 which would make it about the equivalent of 130+)

one of the annoying things about iq is how many people have no idea what spread their iq test was using. if it is a reputable test, the spread should always be included, because the numbers are so significantly different.
(130 on 15 spread equals 148 on 24 spread.. )

pretty much every single internet iq test is just plain bullshit tho and while I certainly believe that the tl.net average iq is higher than average, and also the fact that people who score highly on iq-tests are the ones who are likely to both press this kind of thread, as well as submitting their answers to the poll, 44% of the site being among the 2% smartest is obviously bullshit

nothing groundbreaking psychologically about discovering that everyone puts themselves in higher regard than what should be the case tho.

different type of tests measure different type of intelligence, and within them, there are various different tests that give out different results. some more outdated the other. you should phrase your question more specifically to which kind of intelligence you're asking for and base on which particular tests.

130-135, according to the average of many IQ tests.

I think people need a quick clarification of the IQ scale so they understand what your IQ means.

The IQ scale is designed to be a normal guassian distribution with 100 being the mean and 15 being the standard deviation. This means that the average person would have an iq of 100. Due to the way the guassian distribution is done, 68.2% of people fall within 1 standard deviation of the mean. Meaning that 34.1% of people are between 85-100 and 31% of people fall between 100-115.

26% of people fall between 1 and 2 standard deviations from the mean. So 13% of people have IQ of 70-85 and 13% have IQ of 115-130.

Finally, 4.4% of people are outside 2 standard deviations from the mean. Meaning that 2.2% of people will have an IQ of over 130 and 2.2% of people will have an IQ under 70

Professional testing puts me soundly above 130.

Scoring over 130+ in an online test doesn't mean anything, it is NOT accurate... actually, the more similar tests you make, the higher you score. You learn quite fast what to look for when trying to solve the puzzles. I've scored numerous times 130 but I doubt it's near my actual IQ...

Even though every 'tard votes for over 130 obviously (lol) I really am above 130. The last offline test I did showed 138, while the first I ever done was 146 (that was like at the age of 12 though, so I guess those are fairly inaccurate )
Complete the cycle!

IQ 141, first test administered by Defiance Ohio School board when I was 5.
IQ 138, second test administered by Orange County Ohio school board when I was 8.

Average IQ is scaled to 100 and the standard deviation is scaled to 15. Internet sites, even Mensa's don't do this. Below 60 is classified as retarded. Most tests administered by schools don't offer scaling above 150.

My mom is a school psychologist. She actually administers IQ tests almost daily. If you play with blocks a lot or have your multiplication and addition tables memorized you do a lot better on IQ tests taken when you are young. IQ has also been found to correlate with an individuals level of education.

I really wouldn't mind doing a real legitimate test. I've never done one, only many internet ones. I'm usually pegged around 120-128.

One time though, I just woke up and was super hung over and my friend told me to take this IQ test. I scored a 89. When he asked me what I got, all I said was "Let's just say I failed". It was a pretty funny moment.

Happy birthday!

I've never taken an offline test, unfortunately. Online mensa tests gives me pretty high scores but I am at least smart enough to not believe in those

The only one I took was in 5th grade to see if I could get into GATE. I got a 131 but that was years ago, so I probably back to 100 now.

I took some IQ tests via internet and i was scoring into the 160s. It seemed normal at the time, until I found out from another source that Einstein was estimated at 165. Those scores were obviously bogus.

Recently I took another online test that I actually paid for and scored 136. The test was a little different, and one portion had these flashing numbers to see how long you can retain them in memory and whatnot. Really weird, and not expected at all considering we've all had a shitton of practice going through IQ-esque questions.

There ARE decent IQ tests online (only for 18 or older) contrary to popular belief.

Tested at 159 on the official shrink-administered crap in fifth grade. Probably a lot lower now, and never had much work ethic to go with it, so it all balances out.

As for the poll, it's open and self-selective. People who don't like their results won't vote. Conversely, we smartasses specifically flock to brag, much like Ron Paul supporters.
We believe that we invent symbols. The truth is that they invent us; we are their creatures, shaped by their hard, defining edges.

I took some bullshit online iq test and got like 131 then i asked my dad if that was right (he has the IQ results from when i took the test in elementary school but the fucker wont tell me what i got) and he said it was a bit above that. Some randy facebook test i got 136, idk how accurate that is. But i'm guessing that its 130+

I love the poll results though :D Like half of tl is in the top 2% of the world.

To be honest, I'm not entirely surprised if everyone is telling the truth. Starcraft is remember, considered the futuristic version of chess. Many people here do play chess and are pretty damn good at it. Like I said, even just by looking at the general forum at more of our debate topics, it's awesome to see such intelligent people.

im sure the average iq for tl.net is above the average for the general population, but 56% in the 98th(+) percentile? thats a bit much

Would be interesting to know if the votes are just for fun or if you really think you're that smart...
Then again, even the dumbest people think they're somewhat smart and would rate themselves much higher than what is realistic.

I don't think the problem is just the people answering but the tests themselves. You have to be a retard to not score above 100 in like just about all online tests, which is wrong seeing as half of the people taking those tests should have below it. If Beyonder had provided a test with his first post then maybe the poll could have given a more accurate result but now half of the people with 130+ probably posted their iq test results from 5th grade.

...and yep i scored below 130.. :/

I don't get why so many feel that they have to lie when the poll is anonymous. Or is it that they're just ignorant?

I chose 120-129 because that is what the only serious IQ-test I have ever completed - taken in my native language - after turning 19 gave me.

I mean, people in this thread saying they score over 140, come on? Sure, there ought to be one of those guys here, or maybe even two (when considering how many people have answered the poll). But the vast majority should be found in 100-119 (assuming teamliquid > world).

Sad. Although I guess many people just choose either the highest or the lowest score as a joke.

I've never taken an official IQ test, but I have taken several internet based "IQ tests", and my scores were between 130 and 140 on each of them. I have no idea whether they were accurate. Probably not, but it makes me feel good about myself.

You should link to a test that seems reliable and ask us to take it. Your poll's going to be incredibly skewed towards everyone being a genius.

I think the real IQ test is wether you take an I-net IQ test and believe in the result or not. I score about 145+ (which would make me a genius) on these tests, while in "real" tests I never got over 124. Which still is a pretty good result...

144 and 141 by professional testing;/

like CA said, I wouldn't be suprised if most people here were telling the truth, since you can figure that many of the people who answer will be the ones who got high IQ scores. I guess more then half over 130 might be a little much:O

Oh please. Don't even try to compare chess and SC. The games are incomparable on so many levels...
Your argument could also be applied to soccer, for example. Or just about any other physical sport.
Fast speed is the enemy of detailed thinking, that's one big reason why SC can't be compared with chess and is not a "game for intellectuals".
Which doesn't mean that SC is bad, but it's just a completely different thing. More like a sport, while chess is a mental game. And fast-paced sports games can never be compared to things like chess.
If SC were like you described, it would already be renowned world-wide.
I really like SC too but making claims like that is just ridiculous.

I think that compare starcraft skills with iq is stupid.
One of my friends was B+ on pgtour, and his iq tested at 94.
And (for who compares maths with starcraft skills) my friend was bad at maths, but good at sports.

From what I hear 120 is around above-average, so I put that. I'm no genius but I believe I'm at least slightly smarter than whatever is considered average (but then again I'm pretty sure everyone believes that about themselves )

I consider myself to be a bit smarter than the average. But unfortunately it seems like I share this idea with just about every dumbass out there. Based on this, I estimate my IQ to be around 65.

I assume I'm slightly above average in some areas (I rock standardized tests in Literature and Language stuff + I always do really well in AP stuff tests but maybe that means nothing. I'm just going by general intelligence which is not the same iirc? IQ is your capacity for intelligence I think?) but.. I've never taken one so I'll just throw out the average score.

119 on drone's test.

Still, according to the poll I'm one of the dumber people here, which seems kinda weird to me because I don't work a lot and am still able to follow the highest education Holland has to offer pretty easily. Sounds to me like a lot of people are clueless on their iq or made some test aimed at 12 year olds or something like that. That or this site is filled with pure geniusses, which is pretty hard to believe when you read some posts here.)

Not to mention the amount of people who're voting below 70 here are obviously all lying, if you're below 70 I doubt you've ever played starcraft at all.

But I guess it's not really the point of the poll to be accurate anyway seeing as it's for a psychology project.

I've never taken a pofessional one, only online ones. Do they almost purely measure math/puzzle/problem solving skills? If so, I don't really think that's an accurate measurement of intelligence. I'd estimate I'm around 115-125, just comparing myself to other people who've had professional ones.

Very nice, I got a 117 on that test
People are fucking up the poll by assuming a random internet IQ test is accurate, on 99% of online IQ tests I've taken I've scored 145+. This test, on the other hand, is VERY challenging and is 100% patterns/puzzle solving.

In a test with only symbols&math about 130, with language a bit lower. Sp probably around 125 in a real test. 133 on the mensa.dk test, evenso I must admin a guessed at several of the last answers. Quite a hard test. The test on mensa.de is too easy, you only lose points there if you make stupid mistakes.

That's so far from the truth it's not funny. You are vastly overestimating C-. I scored 119 on that test that drone linked (I'm C), that test probably overestimtaes IQ a bit, seeing as how everyone taking that test seems to be scoring 130, so in actuality I'm likely to be lower than 119.

I guess I'm the dumbest person playing at my level, seeing as how everyone at my level has AT LEAST 120 IQ.

fuck it. i was about to bitch about how lame those tests were (mensa&hiiqsociety or whatever) but it's not worth it. (mensa-121, highiqsociety-127; i can reach 135 on iq tests in my native language)

so instead, i'm gonna ask if any of you has a link or knows where one can take the Amthauer intelligence test. i could only find 'pay for' crap. it's supposed to be teh shit as far as intelligence&psychological characteristics tests go.
And my fury stands ready. I bring all your plans to nought. My bleak heart beats steady. 'Tis you whom I have sought.

IQ = raw power and is NOT a guarantee of success.
Hard work, tenacity and normal intelligence always outplay raw intelligence and laziness in the long run.

There are so many people who are good at specific things, i.e. chess, starcraft, other mental activities, that are only average(maybe slightly above average) at everything else. I would agree that you need to be at least 115-120 IQ to be amazing at SC or chess, but you certainly don't have to have a 120 IQ to be C- on ICC, that's nonsense. Same with being an expert at chess, there are a lot of players who are 2000+ that aren't really that good at anything else.

The thing people don't realize about chess and starcraft is that they're (for the most part) merely skills. You don't have to be a genius to memorize chess openings and endgames, and you don't need to be a genius to be able to solve thousands of tactics problems over and over until you're decent at the middlegame. I think anyone who has slightly above average IQ could get to at least 2000 in chess. Of course the best players in chess and starcraft are way above average in intelligence, but this is true of nearly every field, even sports.

EDIT: Got 126 IQ on Physician's test. I have no idea what my actual IQ is, but that test is bullshit. There were at least 10 questions(out of 26) that were factual, which has nothing to do with how intelligent you are.

Also, all of you who keep bitching about not seeing a bell curve in TL's IQ statistics: STATISTICS SUCH AS STANDARD DEVIATION FOR THE GENERAL POPULATION DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STANDARD DEVIATION FOR A SPECIFIC SUBSET OF THE POPULATION. Holy shit you people are dumb T.T

On a side note, I really do think I\'m above 130, but ill actually take the test again to see if thats changed.

And you base this on ? Absolutely nothing? My thoughts exactly.

You do NOT need a high iq for starcraft, for christ's sake what makes you think that. The thinking part of sc is cooking up a strategy and understanding what counters what etc. This can be done with the help of other people and within plenty of time. Why anyone thinks you need a high iq for sc is beyond me.

And stop naming sc and chess in the same sentence, it's fucking rediculous.

This poll is silly, even if there was on option for 200+, everyone would pick that. Just like how 30% of TL was A+ in the last ICCup season.

i dont think im above average tho sometimes it takes me awhile to understand concepts like in maths

hmm, this gives me an idea. The poll should have an option of 200+, and we could effectively not count those votes because it is unrealistic.

edit: also have a 0 option, for those who vote the other way.

Every stupid internet test I took over the years has been over 124 up to like 148. They are all shit tests. I tried to see what I could get on them by just randomly choosing answers and (for the ones who count time) leaving the test/questions open for looooong amounts of time. and I would still always score over 110. They are pure bullshit to get you to sign up to their elite forums or whatever and pay money.

So in essence you fail the test if you pay for anything because you've been duped.

Another thing to note about these online IQ tests is that they are natrurally biased. Because everyone taking them must have a computer and the internet. So Poor/stupid people can't even take the tests.

This Einstein Riddle is just about as accurate in gauge of intelligence:
+ Show Spoiler +

Einstein wrote this riddle last century and said that 98% of the world’s population would not be able to solve it.

Are you a part of that 98%?

* There are 5 houses that are each a different colour.

* There is a person of a different nationality in each house.

* The 5 owners drink a certain drink. They each smoke a certain brand of cigarettes and also have a certain pet. No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigarettes nor drinks the same drink.

The question is. “Who has the fish?”

CLUES

1. The British man lives in the red house.

2. The Swedish man has a dog for a pet.

3. The Danish man drinks tea.

4. The green house is to the left of the white house.

5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee.

6. The person that smokes Pall Mall has a bird.

7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.

8. The person that lives in the middle house drinks milk.

9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.

10. The person that smokes Blend, lives next to the one that has a cat.

11. The person that has a horse lives next to the one that smokes Dunhill.

12. The one that smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.

13. The German smokes Prince.

14. The Norwegian lives next to a blue house.

15. The person that smokes Blend, has a neighbour that drinks water.

Don't google the answer noobs.

Yes, I have solved the riddle. No, I am not smarter than 98% of the world.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

I took a test 8 years ago, and it was 109, I don't know if it would change now, but I sure don't have the patience to do another.

I narrowed it down to the german in the blue house smoking prince and drinking water with the fish ( since it correlates to ocean etc) and the danish tea drinker. however, i guessed on fish or cat since it seems interchangable betwen the two.

haha, it took me about an hour to do. I did it logically @ 1st and then just started doin check/see after i had it eliminated to a couple choices. When he said 2% of the population, did he mean the 2% can do it in their head?

The einstein riddle is meant to be done on paper, doing it entirely in your head would require far better memory and visualization than top 2% of the population..

And to say that only top 2% of the population can complete it is bs, i'd like a direct einstein quote for that. It's merely a test to measure a portion of a persons intelligence. And alot of people who has solved decent math problems can solve it if they are given the time.

I've never taken any kind of intelligence test as an adult and I don't intend to.

I happen to think that I'm quite bright, and I fear such a test would ruin my delusions.

There is more than meets the eye; some of the questions are added exclusively to adjust for learned knowledge bias and the test itself is also a statistical research tool i.e. it is serving the user as much as the user is serving the test makers. The value you are given correlates well with Stanford-Binet IQ test.

The people behind that test are.. hum.. for the sake of argument lets just say they are deviously clever.

The Danish Mensa test posted here too is decent no matter your knowledge of math and language.

I was searching for Gary Kasparov's IQ and I found that. It seems somewhat reliable.

My official IQ based on a real IQ test is 121. I guess I'm below the average TeamLiquider, which is nothing to be ashamed of

I'm pretty sure when Einstein made the riddle he figured only few people would even come across it and then probably just give up on trying to solve it after themselves figuring out they needed to make a chart and consume more than 30 minutes to solve it.

In otherwords he assumed no one would use their time trying to solve it, hence only 2% would actually do it.

Or maybe he just made that number up to entice people to use their brains on his riddle, so they could feel better about themselves after solving it.

drone's test was interesting because it passed all 3 of my fake-iq-test-detectors
- it doesnt have any stupid fake questions with random answers
- it doesnt test random factual knowledge
- if you go really quickly and put random answers you actually get a low score ( i got a 79 doing that.. most internet iq tests still cough up 120+ with totally random answers)

that said it still probably overstates your iq by a lot. i was down to the last 3 questions with 30mins left (why such a high time limit??), couldn't come up with a reasonable conclusion after like a minute, got bored, and guessed the last 3 (most likely incorrectly), yet still ended up slightly above 130. what bullshit =x

p.s. didn't vote on the poll. i really want to take an actual iq test someday though

I'd say having your multiplication and addition tables memorized does make a huge difference when your young. My parents had me memorize all of mine at a very young age.. 3rd or 4th grade and I tested in the 150's as a kid. According to a couple of online iq tests im usually 120-130. Of course I guess like everyone is saying these might not be accurate though. I wonder where I actually am because I still get high test scores on other things.

When you study for an IQ test, it sorta means absolutely nothing (even more nothing than it usually means). IQ tests don't even measure the most useful forms of intelligence, like decision making, and situation analysis. It just says whether you've gone to school and paid attention or not.

Not entirely true PsycHOTemplar, IQ tests are normally meant to test your knowledge with math, problem solving, and patterns, all of which are someone taught in school, but most of these subjects are a "it clicks or it doesn't" type subject.

You can study patterns all you want and go look at one you haven't seen and not find the pattern because people told you the pattern, or used simple patterns to test you. If you find a pattern you've never seen before, you will either get it after a while, or not.

Also, I've memorized my multiplication tables up to like 25 or something in my head, but thats just basic math and repetition, however my ability to do long thought out problems in my head due to memory and the thought process to continue that problem to the end with correct answers means I would do fairly well on problems people told me, or showed me. I wouldn't say that memorizing helps you do that, or paying attention in school (6 out of the 8 people in my AP calc class used calculators and paper for everything, me and one other guy used our heads a majority of the time)

IQ is just a test of how well you can learn, or your capacity to learn knowledge, education, etc., not so much how much you can memorize, because while i can recite multiplication tables, memorizing them doesn't particularly mean that I have a high IQ.

I haven't taken an IQ test in a while, but the last one I took last year in the spring before I left high school (I'm 19 currently), I scored 135 on the mensa site. I'm really good at problem solving, patterns, and math in my head, but I suck at english -.-, like really bad.

ps. 157 votes (people) said they had higher IQ than 130, which, is much, much less than 2% of the world =/

126 on the mensa one and 135 (er..) on Physician's. The mensa one actually hurt my damn head...I thought I was going to get a 80 or something.

Who cares if the poll is skewed?

I think we should just rejoice that everyones so fucking smart here. Apparently tl.net owns life just as hard as internet voting. Cheers, fellow geniuses!

i've taken numerous iq tests online...they were in the range of 120 - 130+...so i guess that puts me in the 120-129 category...i think...
btw, where can i take a legit iq test??

jeejee I think you actually might be one of the few guys here underestimating himself if you really did all but the last 3 in 10 mins. It took me like 30 to get to the last 5/6 or something at which time i "hit the wall" and didn't really come very much further. But I'd agree that the mensa one probably oveerstates your IQ too, but i guess it would be accurate if you detract like 5/10points. It is by far better than the other one posted.. Oh and I don't see how you can claim the test is to kind because you guessed the last 3 and got 130something. There were 40 questions after all.

I took an online test once which told me I was 137 but I guess it was at the very least unscientifical and porbably some commercial bullshit to make you buy some IQ enhancing program or something like that.

One of my friends was given the status of genius intelligence back in his high school, but presently he spends most of his days smoking pot and making hemp bracelets. The weekends he likes to binge drink and watch prime-time movies with no goal set for his future. He didn't dumb himself down, because you could practically talk to him about any subject and he'll have some basic or complex knowledge of it, but he doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It just feels like the iq tests are just a masked dick-measuring contest.

Why not just judge yourself by what you do with your head instead of what's crammed in it?

Most IQ tests record the type of brain which obsesses over niche things such as Starcraft. While this is correlation rather than causality it would, along with copious lying, explain the poll results.

I wonder what's the validity scale on this poll .

IQ tests don't even measure the most useful forms of intelligence, like decision making, and situation analysis. It just says whether you've gone to school and paid attention or not.

Decision making and situation analysis is more of an EQ atribute than IQ.

Unfortunately you put way too much emphasis on IQ. The higher value of the IQ won't give you an edge in many situations.

The best situation to find yourself in is to have a balance betwen your IQ and your EQ. As Daniel Goleman said in some conference, by his longitudinal studies, people with near values for iq and eq (not sure how you define that since tests for eq don't have the same scale as any iq one) have the best chance in life (they succed in most areas). His studies also indicates people with IQ betwen 105-119 detain the highest probability of a high EQ.

Too bad there's no acurate test for measuring your EQ. This is my personal opinion since i don't really like the Baron test.

They first ignore you. After they laugh at you. Next they will fight you. In the end you will win.

This poll is REALLY fucked up. There is no way that over 50% here score 130, and similarly, there is no way that like, 30% is below 70.. (actually...)

Didn't vote, but scored 144 as a kid, ~138 now. I'd say my weighted IQ, counting laziness, is around 130.

what I find the most hilarious is that a majority of the people who chime in saying that there's no way 50% of the teamliquid posters scored 130+, then follow up saying that they have been tested scoring above 130. you god damn faggots are yelling "no way are half you guys as intelligent as I am" and honestly, that's a pretty damn gay thing to be yelling.

in the school days, i always tested between 120s to 130s... but those tests dont mean a whole lot. iq takes a lot more into factor than just how you do on tests.

I never took one, when I was younger. I probably would of did really bad though. Every report card I had was. "Doesn't complete his tasks, Is easily distracted, Doesn't fit in well with others but is polite" Until around grade 5 when it turned into other crap.

Highest I ever got was 132 on a online test (Average 122-128), but I believe all of those are bullshit.

EQ is so stupid. Emotional intelligence isn't intelligence. Intelligence is.

No one says that intelligence is the end to all, quite the contrary. But EQ is just nonsense. Seems it's made up for or by people who feel bad because they don't have a very high IQ. Who cares?

They did a poll about estimating your own IQ in a scientific magazine. 98% thought they were above average intelligence.

This post is irrelevant to the topic the originator asked for but so are most replies so here goes mine:

http://www.iqtest.dk/main.swf

another free online IQ test (don't know what stdd) that I think is a lot more genuine than most other free online IQ tests. It's all visual/pattern finding to lower cultural bias (not that it eliminates it). Though it only tests for visual/pattern finding. Just for fun.

You really can't compare IQ tests done before the age of 16 to the ones done later on.
When you are a kid the simple formula is (MA (Mental Age) / Actual Age) * 100 = IQ.
So if you are 11 years old and your mental age is 9 that gives you an IQ of 81, which is bad.

So IQ tests done while being a kid really arent valid in older age, where they test the normality in different cognitive areas. I don't believe in tests where actual knowledge is tested (i.e "Name the biggest city in Africa"). Actual knowledge is a factor which varies from where youre from, age, etc. etc.

The Mensa tests gives you a hint of your actual IQ but arent as accurate as you might think.

/own opinions.

You can always try to find your TLIQ (IQ compare to other TL members). Someone need to pick a good IQ test not strongly language dependent (because TL is an international website), open a new thread, everyone interested post his number of correct answers (NOT the resulting IQ) and you will have a distribution with all the scores and the corresponding TLIQ for each score.

That should limit the number of boosted ego

well if you really want it to be accurate you need to find an unbiased person and have everyone pm him their answers then he grades it, otherwise people could still inflate their scores.

Yes, anonymous is better. Only the distribution is really interesting and the corresponding TLIQ for a given score. The test should also contain a good number of questions (30-50) and be aim for people with an IQ of 130+. Even more fun for the final result.
